The base Carrera is a driver’s car. Unless you’re tracking your car, the additional HP from the Carrera S, GTS, Turbos is not missed. Drive the 911, enjoy the power and handling. I personally have a 991.1. I drive it everywhere, everyday and have never looked back.
Absolutely. Keep enjoying your car!
I have a buddy of mine and his racing partner bought 2 x 992 base carreras and converted them to race cars. they race stock carrera class which doesn't allow powertrain mods but the interiors are stripped out, fire suppression, netting, race seats, cool suit. so.. these cars can be used on the track. also, even as a complete street car, these can be tracked, and would be a blast. I have a 992 carrera 4s i've tracked a few times and really fun on the track.
April 1 my 911 got wreak by a door dash driver! I miss my car!!! Will get another later this year or net year early 2024. Be safe folks and enjoy your cars. I will most likely get a base 911 and spec the heck out of it!!
Tesla Model 3P can kill this POS easy, porsche is consider slow car these days haha
@@WD-72bps3 the new M3 can kill this POS even easier
As an owner of a 992 911 Turbo I can tell you I can only floor it when I’m on big wide open roads. Recently we went on a road trip and we took my wife’s 911 Base. It was quieter, rode better and I was able to use more of the engines power on Southern California windy desert roads.
We have the 19”/20” wheels and acoustic glass and Bose stereo and that’s all.
After I do some more ridiculous launches in the 911 Turbo I might sell it for a base or Carrera S.
Thanks for sharing. I can only imagine how ridiculous those launches are. Enjoy it! Let me know if you swap for the S.
Wow, interesting. I have only driven the base 992 C2 (rented for a day spirited canyon driving), but was very impressed by the overall package. It is much nicer, more refined, and spacious than something like a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 (that car does handle much better though). Other than fairly loud road noise, I really fell in love with it overall. I do think the 3.0 flat-6 turbo engine is excellent, and I would say better than the NA engines in something like the 4.0 flat-6 in the 718 GTS 4.0 (this is heresy to say in the P-car circles). My next plan is to drive a 992 4S and see how that is, I have historically like the way all wheel drive cars pull through the corners and take many trips to Colorado in the winter. To be honest though the base 911 992.1 C2 was amazing. I still think about my drive in it all the time.
On the fence of where to enter the next tier of car, love the content. Sports car or suv, new or used, so many good options! Really like the video as well, saw it on the homepage hope the algorithm treats you well man!
Thanks for the kind words. Let me know what you choose!
I am in Houston as well and just signed up for the Porsche Drive rental experience. My first 911 arrives next week and its base white with sports crono, blacked rims and a sunroof. I am so dang excited! I am doing this to see what trim I eventually want to buy but the base is growing on me (from what I have read).
You'll love it! Let me know your impressions.
Picked up my base 992 Carrera a couple of months ago and I love it, really waiting for the spring to drive it a little more. I have sports chrono, sports exhaust, and the 20/21 sports wheels. What an awesome machine!!
These really are special cars!
very down to earth review fair assesment clear pov. thx kind regards, subbed !
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Very direct about the car, unlike other car bloggers great work🎉
Thank you!
this is my grown ass man dream car, and you're right about the options price increase. from 106k ending my "build" at $148k. sure, i choose a higher level carrera but then not all the options i'd want. subbed, looking forward to seeing more of this beauty!
Nice review. I have a base 991.2 Carrera and it is plenty for my needs. Thanks. 😎
Thanks, Gilbert! Enjoy your car. These are beautiful machines.
Agree 💯
That package you got is perfect. Nice color, nice wheels, a few add ons like the sun roof. Clean and simple interior. Simple beauty!
Thank you. These are really special cars.
Great video!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it
Nailed it, thanks!
Thanks!
it is ... more than enough for everyday driving on the highways and city streets ... love my 991.2
Great cars! Enjoy. Thanks for watching.
I love my 2022 Carrera S Manual….best car and Porsche I’ve owned. Nice review!
Thank you! Enjoy the S! Such a great car.
Nice car, nice vid
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it!
Well done !! ( I subscribed )
I have an Agate Grey C2 that was just released for transport a couple of days ago.
Can’t wait !!!
I almost went with the Carrera White ( my Macan is white…love it buuuut…….went with grey……beige interior.)
Options included adaptive cruise, sport exhaust, lightweight sound glass, extended range fuel tank ( biggie ) sport Chrono, 14 way seats, sport steering wheel, yellow tach and seat belts"…
I think it’s going to work !!
That Agate grey is really nice. Enjoy the car!
For every day use, the base is more than enough. If I want a track car, the GT3 is on top of the list.
100%. Thanks for watching.
Nice car, congrats
Thanks for watching!
The Thumbnail picture got me here❤
I have a 992 S and I can confirm, the base 911 is just fine. Next time I may save the money on the S and get more options.
Such great cars, either way. Thanks for watching.
Bazni je sasvim dovoljan bez chrona ali sa ovim felgama i bijelom bojom!❤
Nice video.
Thanks for watching.
... I'm guessing, yes! It's the best looking of the bunch, to my eyes, also.
An elegant design.
congrats at least 25k in options on that bad boy!
They stack up quick. Thanks for watching.
Congratulations on getting the best car in the world. And yes, by that I also mean getting the Carrera and not the S. There’s some purity to it and it’s still a very, very quick car. Only thing I would have spected is the sports exhaust. There definitely is a noticeable sound difference + I think the oval pipes suit this car best. Sport Design Package is also something I would have spected. I know it’s a lot of money, but it makes the car look much more aggressive. That said, of course it’s a matter of taste and budget. Personally, I would spec a Carrera just like I would spec an S. Less power does not mean you should treat this car like it’s less worth. So - if the budget allows - always go for your dream spec on any car, which doesn’t mean you should overspec it by ticking every single box there is.
But other than that, totally love your choices. The interior ambient light package is a must have. Cruising around with it at night, hearing the howl of that glorious engine… does not get better than that. Very happy for you!
The sport exhausts looks and sounds great. Probably helps resale too, since it's a popular option. And the sport design package does look good. Love those night drives! Thanks for watching.
The sport exhaust seems to add more base to the sound down low, but not so much difference to the treble up high where the sweet flat-6 wail lives. I would test drive both back to back and see if the difference matters to you. For some, the difference may not be a dealbreaker. Regardless, if you want a real sound upgrade - better to consider aftermarket exhaust options since $3k to Porsche doesn't make for a huge upgrade in sound from my perspective.
As far as looks go, I don't think the Sport Exhaust tips look better than the rectangular tips. There's something odd about the way the large round ovals bulge out and offset the rectangular look of the rear end. Maybe if they were a bit smaller... Of all the exhaust options, I think the Round Quad-tips on the standard exhaust look the best. Of course, this is all 100% subjective. : )
I do like the Sport Design package, especially the front. It would be in my top list of options (along with 18-ways, Bose, leather interior. The lightweight glass and premium package would be the next things I would get). I would pass on Sports Exhaust, the exhaust on the base 992 C2 sounds great and is as loud as I would want it. I would also pass on Sport Chrono, it just doesn't add hardly any value. Without it you still have the sport mode, except no dial. You do loose launch control, but that is a feature that I think would get used 5 or 10 times and you can still launch the car yourself (and some prefer to do it that way anyway).
@@iphoneappverse7631 For base 992s the quad exhaust tips (separate from sports exhaust) are an option (standard on the S). I have seen some people do it. I agree I think they look best, I don't like the ovals.
Carrera T manual I think is the sweet spot, base 911 is already a beast.
The T looks like a really compelling car. I wish you could spec without the GTS anti-roll bars for daily driving.
I’m looking for my first Porsche. I thought I’d get into the Caymans. You mentioned you previously had a 718. I’m on the fence with the 718 and the 981. I understand the six and the four differences and also the sound. The sound aspect isn’t a factor on me. I came across a 2017 718S which is certified preowned and a very good deal. Like growing up we all want a 911. I thought I’d start with a Cayman. I love to drive. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
Mike, I was really torn between the two. Both great cars. The mid engine makes the 718 more precise. You feel it in the corners when you get on the throttle and the weight scoops you through the turn. That effect is even more pronounced in the 911. It's really a matter of taste, what flavor do you prefer. The 911 is bigger and heavier. An equally matched 718 will get around the track faster, in my opinion. The 911 is a little more refined, more room, has a sunroof option, and you can spec things you can't on a 718. If none of that matters to you, the 718 is hard to beat. I highly recommend getting seat time in both before you purchase. Either way, its smiles per mile.
Hi Mike, I have owned a 2017 718 cayman s and now have a 2021 911s. I would strongly recommend the 718s over a 981, especially if the sound isn't as factor for you. Its better than the 981 in almost all regards other than sound. And thats subjective. I loved the sound of my 718s, it's loud, barks and sounds quite tough. I ended up selling it to my uncle who is in love with it. You wouldn't regret it.
did you have any service issues? failures? are you not afraid of the durability of this 3.0 turbo engine?
What a dream
Its great and in most places ITS ALL YOU CAN GET!!!
Right. Tough to get allocations these days.
@@maxaeonmusic it’s awful
@@tommy516 I'm hearing 12-18 months for delivery. Hopefully it eases up soon. I'm guessing in 9 months there will be a lot who back out if recession hits.
@@maxaeonmusic yeah that is what I know for S and above...I was told my dealership is getting ONE T....which hopefully I will get but they seem to have quite a bit of ADM on it, while the 2022 Base I have, had none.....
@@tommy516 See if you can find a "Premier Dealership." From what I understand, they can't add ADM or they'll lose status. But they makeup for it with add-ons. Crazy times.
The 992 Carrera Classics are the best looking wheels ever. Would love to find a 992 owner ‘upgrading’ to aftermarket wheels so I could put his Classics on my 991.2 (assuming they fit).
Might try Wheels America. They had OEM rims for my Mercedes at a great price.
@@maxaeonmusic thank you man!
The fact that this thing doesn’t have a LSD is inexcusable
Even the Miata has LSD.
TC takes care of the WHEEL SPIN 👊
@@williamheinsinger7390 It simply cuts power, LSD puts traction down so it doesn’t have to cut power
Respectfully, sport chrono as you said is probably in either Sport or Normal mode for most and is standard equipment. Save the $2500 and skip the dust collector on the dash, ambient lighting is an absolute must, drive a modern 911 without it and you will for sure be happy you checked that box.
The C2 is truly a great sports car.
Right. The only thing you miss without sport chrono is the auto-blip feature and dynamic engine mounts. The lack of dynamic mounts is just one less thing to break. It really is a wonderful car. You really don't need any of the extras to enjoy the C2. Thanks for watching.
@@maxaeonmusic The Auto blip is already there with normal sports mode without sports chrono. It's just about the clock, Sports Plus Mode and dynamic engine mounts and maybe a tiny bit quicker launch.
God willing tomorrow I’ll have mine
Awesome! You'll love it!
as a 992 Carrera S owner, I can tell every newbies, drop down your ego
base Carrera is plenty for daily drive and have fun
I only went for Carrera S because i have a slot popped up...
if you have chance, go for base Carrera and enjoy, you wont regret
Do you even notice the limited slip on the street?
@@maxaeonmusic are referring to the difference for LSD? me and my buddies dont really experiencing the loss of traction... I mean, I am not shooting a fast and furious movie : )
I dont think Sport Chrono is needed. Otherwise great video. A must is the noise reducing glass though its pathetic loud without it
Thanks. Big fan on noise reduction. I only want it loud when I want it loud lol
@@maxaeonmusic lets say it this way: 99% even in a carrera you dont race with it. thats what most clients should think about, also when ordering bigger wheels, hard seats, race suspension, race gimmicks, ceramic brakes, bodykits etc. And you dont want it noisy! Base carrera with blue metallic, noise reduced glass, glass roof, park help and distance control is all I would need. less is more.
@@rudiausbuddeln Totally agree.
Ooo nooo the front bumper scratched
Good enough for anyone. 😀😀😀
True!
It's good enough as a sports car, but I don't think it's good enough for the price. They need a version that sells out the door for under $100k.
The problem is I can't find any 911s on the lots, and I don't want to pay 20 grand in markups to order one from a dealer. I'm looking for the 911 turbo, maybe if the market resets.
Right. The only one's on the lots are one's somebody backed out of at the last moment. There's a premium on the higher end models. Find a "Premiere Dealer." They can't charge ADM or they'll lose their status.
Are those standard seats non leather in the middle ?
This is leather. I think on some models like the T it's a cloth center.
I would want at least the "S" trim level, to get the manual transmission.
Too bad they don't offer it in the base.
The Carrera T has it along with sports exhaust and sport chrono for quite a bit less than an equally optioned S trim
@@jwalesoutlaw3294 A year ago, the T model was only available with the PDK. Today, Sardine Sunday for my cats, the T is available with the manual transmission. The availability of certain options or colors changes.
My buddy has one, and we took a road trip from Toronto to Cooperstown, New York and back. 800 km in one day. It's a great car, it looks good, it's fast and it sounds great and it's got the nicest rear end of any car.
Amazing cars.
mine will be just 911 4, ceramic brakes, black paint, gray interior and lightweight windows. Only thing I may consider to add, paldao wood. I don't need anything else.
Nice spec. These cars are great no matter what.
How tall are u?
19”/20” tires provide a much nicer ride.
Great to know. Thanks. I'm looking for the easiest city ride possible due to a hip issue.
do you have the base head lights?
PDLS+. Highly recommend.
Drives well and looks good but It’s too slow.
Sold mine now looking for an older turbo.
Engine sound was a huge disappointment coming from a 991s
Enjoy the turbo. Thanks for watching.
Is the color White or Carrara White?
It's White.
Keep it simple. Any 911 is good enough.
Isn't that the truth! Thanks for watching.
I agree 💯
Sport seats are much narrower and not as comfortable as the base “comfort” seats.
After getting some time in the sport seats plus, I agree. Way too narrow for me. I'll stick with the standard seats.
Unfortunately it's a three year wait if you order one, which is absurd.
Yeah, that's definitely keeping the used market inflated. I suspect there will be a lot of people backing out of deliveries in a year's time.
There are some base allocations now at MSRP in most everywhere in the United States, except California.
I have ambient lighting in my 911 2021 Targa 4 and I find it rather pointless. Not all that bright and the color differences are not all that obvious. Not sure why you need to see your feet at night in the car.
I didn't even notice it after the first drive.
I will trade my Panamera for it.
Enough of the chat, lets hear you boot it
Yep Houston roads are terrible. I have sports car and drive it sooo slow…
I've had to memorize the potholes on every route lol. Thanks for watching.
@@maxaeonmusic Lol. I do the same! Great vid. Keep them coming
Base engine is good enough for 99% of consumers….
For sure! Thanks for watching.
also theres no pasm for base carrera
Yes there is. Sport PASM is the option which is lowered.
******** Yes - it is a GREAT car...Still WAY OVERPRICED ! ********
Very. Will be interesting to see how the coming recession affects pricing.
Porsches are not overpriced, now they can be unaffordable for many. You get what you pay for with them. True drivers know this man🏎
@@williamjackson5357 Oh boy Bill...true drivers...?..REALLY? You feel better when you call yourself that?
Just calling it like I see, I am a true driver. What about you?
@@maxaeonmusic Im sure it will affect the pricing just as it affects any other product or services. But those who can afford one will still purchase one. As I stated earlier, not overpriced but unaffordable to some 🏎
It is too luxurious for the real sport car and too sporty for GT. Stuck in between. Hey, but there is a no-depreciation factor that all boomers care about. Like rolex submariner - emotionless category that looks at the thing through a price tag.
Do you need it no ,,lol
Not much is "needed" on these cars, but it's all about the "wants," right? lol.
Exactly, nobody needs a Porsche or a Rolex. It is a want and nothing wrong with that.
Ferdinand Porsche even said that “noone needs a Porsche, but everyone wants one”
It's overpriced for sure
Would be nice if they were cheaper. Thanks for watching.
True but the residual value is Awesome 👌
