First off, in no way am I bragging on what I currently own or have owned in the past. With that said, I have owned $3,000 strats and $3,000+ PRS’s $3,000 Gibson’s….. I currently play and prefer the HT Squier Strat with a custom neck. These guitars are absolutely fire. You need to know how to work on them and be comfortable modding and fully setting them up to truly enjoy them.

These are the kinds of comparisons that YT needs more of. Thank you.

Anybody have an idea of the difference in weight between this Squire vs a Fender Players Series Strat?

I didn't know anything about Squiers. I came upon this used Squier "Standard" Srat. (not a "sonic") in a local music store. I loved it. The guy says "make me an offer". I had no idea what it was worth...so I said $240.00. Best two hundred and forty dollars that I ever spent.

I recently bought a surf green squire sonic strat and love it especially for $180. But recently I’ve been looking at the squire paranormal offset telecaster in Olympic white. I don’t know how it plays but it’s one of the best looking guitars out there

There is a trend happening with the reissue of the old Fender Sonic Series: a funky sound and great playability for less cash. This could be Fenders antidote to the decline of the guitar in popularity. Since the Boomers adopted the guitar as the voice of their generation...the generations just after the Boomers have not done the same. The guitar reigned supreme from 1958 thru 1985. Will the guitar do it again?

Did anyone else not have any space inside the cavity of the guitar to put the battery? I ended up having to put the battery in the back of the guitar under the bridge plate (?).

If the pickguard fitment is an issue for someone they can detach all the EMG stuff from the included pickguard and transfer to their original one. Might help some guys with various year guitars or foreign makes.

I was gifted one of the cheapest 2010 Squires (Strat-pack) you can buy from my brother who got it for himself but then didn’t get time to learn to play (he went for keyboard instead)….it was unplayable when I got it, but I cleaned & treated the maple neck, then had the frets levelled by a luthier who also made & fitted a bone nut, then I put in the DG20 & upgraded the tuners & saddles myself….it plays & sounds amazing now, looks so cool with a black body & pickguard…I’ve clearly spent a fair bit of time & money, but much less than a new MIM player & this thing is now in a different league! Don’t recall having to drill out, though I do remember a couple of the pickguard screws didn’t line up but that was no biggie…and yes, it’s quiet as a mouse with lovely tones (my LP studio is a noisy beast, though I did put SD Slash pups in it after similar TLC)…it just shows, you can turn a cheap guitar into a diamond with a bit of care, so go for it!

As the proud owner of a squire sonic I can confidently say its the greatest guitar I have ever played. I also say that as someone who is just learning to play and its my first guitar.

When Sylvester Stalones agent called Jesse James and wanted a car painted yellow, Jesse replied "I dont do yellow" ...lol. Squier is putting out some nice very affordable guitars! Squiers name should be Fender ll.

Bit too late, but you can just poke something through the little holes in the EMG connectors, pop the wires out easily, feed the wires through and reverse the process to refit the connector, no drilling required.

I put a MojoTone loaded pickguard on a Bullet Strat hardtail. I had the same fitment issue with the scratch plate and the hardtail bridge. Apparently that hardtail bridge is wider than a tremolo bridge. I ground the plastic on the scratch plate at each end of the bridge until it fit.

Don't sweat the hole in the back.....no one will ever see it anyway.

The regular strat rings out a little more. Perhaps the best middle ground is to get a standard squier sonic, upgrade to the 20$ Fender Standard Series Vintage term (it has a steel trem block), and deck / block it?

I love the modifications! I also got this guitar for Christmas and I haven't put it down and I own a lot of guitars. Definitely becoming a favorite and most likely not going to make any modifications on it. Set up was perfect right out of the box. Also I enjoyed your song a lot and will check it out on Spotify.

I ordered the hh version of the affinity strat not knowing that it had only a 3 way switch, my favorite sound is the fender quacky funky sound on the number 2 position. But I heard some one on CZcams and still got that sound just a little more rounded mellow. I like that yellow you have. Sounds great. I think I’ll like mine in artic white, thanks for the review. I have installed a $1500 spasm spec upgrade on my 992 Turbo S, and I live in Chicago with lots of potholes. My question is, do I need to activate sports mode to engage the lower suspension, or is it automatically engaged at all times?
