+Messiah Gray They aren't even that good with the X-Men. Their FoX-Men films are mostly just "The Adventures of Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto, Mystique and friends" Out of those only Wolverine is an actual X-Man since Professor X is more of a founder and teacher of X-Men than an actual team member and Mags & Mystique are villains more than anything.
+Just Another Guy I think they did pretty well with X-Men, considering The Last Stand, which took a huge pile of crap on the entire Phoneix Saga. Days of Future Past was great, and even that solo Wolverine movie wasn't too bad either. It's just too bad that the focus is mainly on Professor X, Magneto, Mystique and Wolverine, and the rest are practically ignored for the most part.

What's sad is that even if Marvel Studios gets the rights to make an F4 movie that turns out to actually be _good, nobody's_ going to see it because of how every last F4 film performed. I mean, _I'll_ go see it even if it turns out to be awful... but nobody _else_ will...

+Retro Hero 276 Most modern Marvel movies regardless of publisher have a cameo from Stan Lee unless they are terrible. He appeared in the Sony Spider-Man movies for example.
A marvel movie about any character stan lee created needs a cameo from him. Logan and wolverine didn't need one, but the fantastic four, one of stan lee's greatest creations, needs a cameo from him.

Man looking back on this 4 years later it's a good thing that Disney bought most of Fox's film and TV assets which included the rights to the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool respectively and Kevin Feige is developing into movies part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thank god Disney/Marvel got the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool back.
Now let's see what generic safe movies they're gonna make them into.

+Ruston Wilson They really should have had more screen time to explain the whole adoption. Maybe say how Franklin use to work with Sue's parents many years back, an accident happen to them and how he decided to adopt Sue. That would have given both Sue and Johnny more character development of their relationship as brother and sister (without the whole ignoring and disrespect crap).. Then I probably would have accepted the adaptation...but sadly no.
***** Even the original work just doesn't seem like a Fantastic 4 movie. I mean the serious tone works well for some adaptations, but the fantastic 4 isn't really one of them. I still feel the director had no intentions of making a fantastic 4 movie. Like the studio micromanaged the shit out of it from the get go, and when the director still didn't want to do a superhero movie, the studio took over completed and reshot the second half.

They aren't going to make another FF movie because they know they're just going to bleed money if they try. They fucked this last movie up too much and no executives at Fox are going to be green lighting another shitty FF movie.
+Temporal Mix Productions I suspect the reason that they keep doing these movies is because:
1) Pretty much any movie can now be financially successful on the international market. Fan4stic actually DID make back money, just not domestically.
2) I would bet a lot that Fox makes a ton of money off of the merchandising from toys and other stuff.
+David Cage's Script It made it's production budget back, but when you factor in the marketing budget, it's still probably at a lost, albeit only ten or twenty million.
The fact that they've tabled the sequel release probably means they're figuring out what their next step is.
That of course isn't to say they're just going to revert the rights back to Marvel, I could see them trying their hand at another one in a few years after the taste of this one has left our mouths.

Fant4stic (2015)- 168 million worldwide (-121 million from last movie)
Fox CAN NOT financially make another Fantastic Four movie in the amount of time that they would have to to keep the rights. Fant4stic was their last chance. One of 2 things is going to happen: 1) They make an exchange with Marvel and give them the Fantastic Four rights. Or 2) They can't make a deal with Marvel and are forced to just wait until the rights expire (which I believe would be 2021 or 2022), and Marvel gets the rights back for free. Either way, Marvel IS going to get these rights eventually.
The director of this wanted to make it more of a "body horror" type thing rather then a straight up superhero movie, and that's part of why the movie ultimately failed. Its not what the fantastic four is about. FF has always been about discovery, the exploration of the unknown and facing the threats that come with that exploration. The "body horror" approach would have worked great for a Doom Patrol movie because several characters on that team basically got their powers by winding up in disfiguring accidents, the two prime example being Robot Man and Negative Man.
I never realised the body horror part, but, yeah that really freaked me out, especially when the Thing was bleeding from the cracks of his body.
see, I saw this movie, and from what i witnessed, the elements in this movie all had the potential to be good, i think it was just executed VERY VERY VERY poorly

The problem with the 2015 movie is that the studio writers thought they could do better than the Marvel comic source material and made a lot of vast changes to the characters, which put them out of character essentially, and pissed off a lot of long time fans. "It's clobbering time!" Fans rejected it.

I went to the theaters with my Aunt Michelle a long while ago, and we were open to see anything that was out. At first, we almost walked into Pixels, but it was not playing, (which I don't know if that was a blessing or curse), so we went to see fan4stic. The only good to come out of this evening was us making fun of the film.

Hear that, Fox??? That's what the fans wanted. Start selling the rights to F4 back to Marvel. And Marvel, go get those rights to Fantastic Four back, and starting making a *proper* F4 movie. You can thank me later once your movie grossed 1.3 billion in the box office. Now ... go!!!
