I used to be best friends with a girl in hs who faked having cancer. I had random people running up to me telling me that she has lung cancer or brain cancer. She was telling people she was on oxygen at home and heavy breathing treatments. I looked at them so confused like, "what??? I was just at her place last night, and she didn't have any of this, thats funny." I spent almost everyday with her. She knew that my cousin had died as a kid from brain cancer. She knew my great grandpa had died a year prior from throat cancer, and that was the 3rd time of him having it. And my aunt at the time had breast cancer, along with my uncle having throat cancer. I dropped her IMMEDIATELY. I don't play with that.

When I was 13 I lied about having cancer to a few people obviously to get attention, of course it came out I donât, Very embarrassing. I went to therapy and learnt the psychological reasoning why I lied was simply because I wanted love and attention, and thought I needed to go drastic measures to make people care because I felt unlovable. Itâs very crazy thing your brain does , and Iâm glad I got help⊠I was too embarrassed to admit it for years but now Iâm older I know itâs okay as long as you take responsibility for your actions , face them, change ,become a better person. Also taught me to be genuine and il get the right love and attention in my life Iâm supposed to have. If your going through similar, just go talk to someone, it really does help â€

My grandmother pulled the "I'm a cancer survivor" card when she didn't have cancer. The woman just looks for attention where she can get it. She's probably the old woman in the neighborhood that has terrible kids and grandkids that never visit her, but the people she tells that to will never understand what an incredibly evil woman she is.

I recently distanced myself from my mother, before I was stressing myself for her wellbeing to where I wasn't caring for myself. As sad as it is i need to focus on me for once.
I cut ties with literally my whole family, quite a big bunch of people.

my mom is exactly like this, but even worse.. she admitted herself into the hospital the same week she was going to be evicted, hospital found nothing wrong with her but kept her for nearly a week because she wouldn't stop complaining. My child brother and sister had to walk themselves to school because she has no support system as she's alienated everyone. they came home from school to find a lock on the door and had nowhere to go. they were 10 and 11. i hate my mother, and wish i could get her the help she needs, but she'll never admit she has any flaws.

My dad had a brain disease that caused blood clots all throughout his brain and required brain surgery to fix. After he went through brain surgery and got a lot of attention, he started faking multiple other illnesses to the point he was diagnosed with Munchausen syndrome (not the same as Munchausen by proxy). He craved attention and would get it by telling people he was terminal. He was 'terminal' for almost a decade and eventually died from suicide. I miss him every single day but I still have a lot of anger toward him. I used to dream about confronting him like this, but it often just makes it worse. People like this need help, but it's damn near impossible to force them to get it.

Itâs poor behavior - however I feel like if the behavior started after a brain injury and invasive brain surgery, he might not have been fully at the wheel there. Surgeons mightâve bumped something. I have a sister who is mostly normal but occasionally becomes really preachy and then angry at me, Following a pretty hard slam to the head that she never got an mri or anything for. Itâs frustrating but I try to keep that in mind.

My mother did the same. All my childhood she lied she has a breast cancer and under the treatment. When I was a kid I was so sad and worried about her. Now Iâm 22 and I know sheâs pathological liar and said her friends Iâm sick too. Sheâs evil woman and till this day she denies everything and still believes sheâs sick. When doctors say otherwise she just changes doctors and itâs all over again.
It sounds like she lies about everything, being a pathological liar. But lso the thing you're specifically describing seems to be Munchausen syndrome, and Munchausen by proxy.
You're probably already familiar with the term but I thought I'd share in case it helped somehow.

Omg she's just like my aunt. She's had so many 'health problems' that never existed and she's scammed so many people for money with it and she's been called out but she lies so much she buys into her own lies. She lies about literally everything.
People like her are the reason people like me with ACTUAL chronic illnesses aren't believed. Especially when they're invisible illnesses. I'm not faking shit I actually have an immune system that attacks my own body and that means some days walking isn't happening depending on my pain levels or that yes I do get dislocations often because I also have a freaking connective tissue disorder. Ugh I hate ppl.

SLE?? my late aunt which i refer her as my mom had it before, first doctor thought she had leukemia, but further research says that she's been diagnosed with SLE, Stay Strong, cuz I know you can pull it through just like how my late aunt did, at the time, she also had two tumors discovered during the MRE/MRI( can't remember the name) scan, one on her lower back and one on her brain, she survived the lower back, but when it comes to the brain, they managed to remove it, but they soon faced problems like there's too much water(plasma) in her brain so they had to flood it out. Soon, after constant fighting for atleast 2 months in the hospital, she finally Rest Peacefully.
It was a sad day for me as i was just 12 at the time, we were so close until a point i also called her 'mama', like my own mom.
So keep on fighting cuz i know u can too, ur stronger than you ever think you are, sorry for the long essays, it's just so rare for me to hear others saying that they have lupus/SLE, when i hear u mention the part where ur own immune system attacks urself, i got all the memories and flashbacks of my late aunt. I worked with someone who faked cancer. The way we found out was cuz the new manager that came in had the balls to ask for a doctor's note or to not come back. She didn't come back. Cuz for some reason the management before didn't ask for any documentation. But this lady was saying she was an hour late cuz she was coming to work from chemo... You don't go to work after chemo đ

Yes this is truly disgusting, my mom was diagnosed at stage 4 with cervical cancer (spread to lungs and brain) and passed away 5 months after her diagnosis without telling us it was terminal, people who haven't experienced it will never know how horrible and invasive this disease is.
I hate this because this is exactly like my mom. I was her care taker for years, lost my childhood, and my early adulthood caring for her. Taking her to doctors just to have them tell her ânothing is wrong with youâ till she finally found a doctor that believed her when she said she has strokes and seizures. Itâs so sad, but at least this lady is actively being out there. I had to listen to my mom lay in a bed saying âIâm dieing soonâ for 12 years. I had to eventually cut her out of my life. I mentally handle watching my mom slowly ruin her life.
I feel you. My mom has a similar problem. I lost part of my childhood and a big part of my adulthood caring for her too. I can't even begin to describe how strongly this affects every aspects of your life, especially when you get zero help from other relatives. You did a great job and didn't break. I actually had cancer when I was 15 and when I told some of my friends and acquaintances and one of them thought I was lying. At that time I was like who would lie about something like that, but now I see.
They actually gave her a title for "Most Stokes had during championship" she had a stroke for every title, then a few on the way home.

My mom had stage 3 breast cancer and is still going threw struggles with it but thank god she survived. This was painful to watch

True story: My mom had leukemia, survived and went on to win several national competitions in weight lifting a few years later.
My mom actually had cancer in her abdomen. I was a child so I donât remember what it was but it wasnât pancreatic it was something else. But she literally had parts of her stomach and other organs removed because of it and I remember her recovery and they practically butchered her, like she had bile coming out of a hole in her stomach that wasnât intentional that smelled so bad I literally didnt want to be in the same room as her. It was bad. My mom didnt fake that horror, she couldnt have. She still bears the scars and the side effects of the surgery that she now struggles with diabetes. I cant imagine how people can make up stories and play pretend in something so awful. Its not a joke. Iâm lucky my mom is even still alive. People like that mom need seriously mental help.

They probably took parts of her pancreas and thatâs why she has diabetes, because the pancreas controls insulin levels
The dental issue that Ken was talking about sounds like a stage 2 or 3 Maxillofacial condition, I had a similar operation. It's basically when your upper or lower jaw does not grow to match the opposite jaw. They take bone from the larger jaw and used it to expand the smaller one so that they line up. I also have the Titanium screws and metal plate in my jaw which is always fun at the dentists. I think the operation is called an Osteotomy.
Isnât Your upper jaw completely connected to your skull? How does it work with that not growing properly and expanding it? Wouldnât that affect the rest of your skull too? If your upper jaw was too small wouldnât that make your whole skull smaller?

Edit: If I did do the surgery, it would of forced my mouth to be more slightly open. because my teeth would be resting directly above my bottom teeth. Like I said before, it's no big deal and alot of people are like this. I swear dental is treated like some secret art in the West =_=

The technique is called Orthognathic surgery, I'm not a surgeon and I was unconscious at the time, but I think that the way it works is they move one forward and one back, so yes, your whole lower jaw area is disconnected from the rest of the skull, moved forward and then a plate is put in place to hold it there. In my case I had to have my teeth wired together for 6 weeks in order to allow the broken bones to heal, and then I had physio to learn how to use my mouth again afterwards because the muscles had grown weak from non-use.
no they dont use the bone from one jaw to the other, they simply move one jaw forward or backwards

But why it's bullshit content, it's too easy a job, why
Iâve had several brain AVMs (Arteriovenous malformations) and after treating them I had epilepsy attacks and migraines however I never had any cancer related ailments in my life. I couldnât however write and forgot to speak for two months. I had depression since I couldnât even get the words of my frustration out but Iâve recovered and moved on with seizure medications to take. Itâs sad to know thereâs people who lie about having fake illnesses.
I really hate people like this, my mom passed away last year from stage 4 kidney cancer. Watching her go through that was more painful then anything Iâve ever had to go through, really hope karma catches up to anyone using a lie to catch popularity. Cancer is no joke.

I have a friend of 10 years that I had to distance myself from for this exact reason. Heâs super insecure and has had some issues being accepted by his family for personal reasons, and heâs always been a compulsive liar. I had to cut ties with him when he started claiming he had leukemia to gain popularity in the drag community. My grandmother has barely survived cancer multiple times so itâs personal to me. This friend and i were roommates for a while, so we shared each otherâs location, I had to draw the line when he told me he was at the hospital getting a blood transfusion but his location showed him at home. Cancer is not something to lie about, I was willing to support him and help him grow as a person until that moment.
