Maybe googling why they do it was too hard I’ll explain to you. This elephant is known as an “old bull”, old bulls don’t allow the younger ones to mate, they fight them constantly and breeding drastically drops for their species.. besides these elephants not having the sperm required to make babies, they’re just halting the breeding process of elephants, so you have to take the old ones out,

They are being hunted to cull the overpopulation of the southern African elephants as the land they live in cannot sustain that many elephants anymore causing widespread ecological imbalance in the area. Learn to do some research before you speak out of your ass next time.
I'm an avid hunter and i wholeheartedly understand their are huge over population problems of elephants in some parts of Africa, but would i take down an elephant? No, I don't think I'd get anything out of it.
Why these men are not arresting??
I ran into a video of a guy (whose face was blurred out by the way) with another gentlemen from Africa and they took out an elephant in the video. The comments were turned off so I assume they where illegally killing the animal. Would that be correct gmctech or are they just ashamed to not show their face knowing they where doing something that can be frowned upon?
Ever thought about it not having anything to do with you? You get an experience hunting the largest and most dominant land animal om the planet. You're feeding the locals. Your contributing to anti poaching projects. You're contributing capital to the locals, which in return, result in the better well being of the local wildlife, and preservation thereof. Maybe you don't have to be the one to "get anything out of it." You're a hunter and don't understand the first thing about conservation.
@@JDobrozsi1 False. Comments are turned off by CZcams when videos are restricted. They blur out their faces because activists are complete nutjobs who will do anything to dox a person and their family or even murder a human being over an animal. The animals culled on video are legally put down. and harvested for villages to eat. When animals become a nuisance or are a danger to the herd killing off the baby elephants they must be removed to preserve the herd. These animals are on a preserve. Please get the facts before you type some BS lie. Also, the hunter pays 100s of thousands of dollars sometimes over a million dollars to take the shot on the animal. That money goes back into the preservation of the animals, Why not have someone pay to shoot the animal and make money for saving the rest of the endangered species? One more thing. The money pays for security for the animals so that they can stop poaching and give jobs to the locals who are starving to death.
One thing that amazes me is how ignorant you are. Because of the stupid phone you use to type your ridiculous accusations. Kills 1000s of animals every year mining for lithium to produce the batteries they run on. So unless you live in a cave without modern amenities, you're a hypocrite. Before they would be killed at random by locals but now there are so many thst they have b3come a huge problem for farmers and villages who can't do anything about it. They only hunt large bulls who have already bred many times over. Besides, hunting is natural and beautiful. It isn't painful to the animal at all really and they would die in a far crueler way anyway. We can't allowed them to reach carrying population either, because that would be cruel and cause massive damage and starvation. The whole situation is actually very good all around.
On the other hand, rhinoceros are nearly extinct because nobody bothers to protect them. South Africa used to allow them to be managed on private ranches where the population exploded, but ended those 'racist' laws after apartheid ended. Private sport conservation is fundamentally good and moral, but even the government can help sometimes.
stop crying
@screwstatists7324 You do realise the elephant population dropped from around 25 million to 400,000 due to humans? In some countries there are only a few hundred left, even though you could find thousands in 1900. So saying "there are so many, they have become a problem for farmers" is just absurd. And these conservation strategies that you're talking about don't work half the time, you can find plenty of articles on that topic. Corruption and negligence makes these attempts futile. So executing elephants like that is nothing more than a sadistic past-time for rich men.
@@Ruzzky_Bly4tKind of wird how the nations that allow a lot of Elephant hunting have so many more compared to those that do not. As a former Royal Marine, who lived with a Rifle, slept with it, ate with it by my side , all whilst on active service, I can never understand the obsession with Hunting , killing and weapons. I wonder if they would be so keen if the Animals had Guns to fire back with. Killing for food yes, killing for conservation yes but killing for excitement and pleasure, no.
They are not mutually exclusive. A hunter can kill for food, support the only workable and sustainable conservation model in Africa, and have fun along the way. Remove hunting from the equation and the results are all too predictable: poachers move in to decimate the herds and there is no employment or meat for locals. Is that a better outcome than limited and highly regulated hunting?

WOW! My sentiments exactly. I am not a veteran and I often wonder if these "tough guys" were ever put in a real dangerous situation, be it "danger close" or a vicious fire fight, how brave they would be. Plus, killing a magnificent animal like that bull elephant for pleasure that surely has more knowledge of its wilderness and greater brain power than those who were determined to murder it. Subsistence and/or hunting for conservation purposes is totally understandable but even these should still be done responsibly. Thank you for your post. I think you didn't get rave pushback BECAUSE: 1. you ARE a veteran (a Royal Marine) who understands real death and 2. your points are spot on.
Probably why you’re a former marine, those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.
Lived in Tanzania around mwanza and this is not as bad as people think. Typically the meat goes to local villages, the money funds anti poaching enforcement, and the locals kill them for free when they destroy their property. They also select not breeding bulls. Special place in hell for trophy hunters
Let it be known that trophy hunting is pretty much the only reason that many of these animals aren't nearly extinct. The huge amount of money that trophy hunting brings in helps to fund the parks, the rangers, and in general all of the conservation of these creatures. And has been mentioned in other comments, the population control is essential to the health of the creatures. In some places where hunting isnt allowed, and where paching isnt a problem, the elephant population has become too dense, causing food shortages for the elephants as well as widespread disease. Hunting is essential to protect these creatures.
You keep telling yourself that. There are huge global organisations who are more than willing to fund protection efforts, and help out local people, but this type of hunting usually is due to a corrupt local gouvernment and about earning a huge amount of easy money.

They do that as to close the distance with the animal while it’s down. Although a Nitro express is a very large caliber, it never really hurts to have a follow up insurance shot/double tap when hunting one of the big five. Especially because those animals in particular are incredibly dangerous and very very hardy and tough. It’s best to hit the animal while it’s down so it doesn’t suffer but it also keeps you from tracking a wounded and dangerous animal through the bush and also stops it from charging should it recover. Lastly, although the bull was very big, the kill shot is still a relatively small target. Again, just insurance.

Thus, they learned it again in Afghanistan. No animal is a match when a human confronts it from a distance with modern weapons. The only wonderful form of combat is human against human. I absolutely love the fact the white races are now slaughtering each other in Ukraine after causing war and genocide all over the third world in the last 500 years. Watch the fun. This war will hopefully eat up Europe again.

Feeling big n macho by doing that would be the same as a tiny little femboy claiming hes the worlds strongest men bc he shot Jon Jones on the back w a shotgun while he was walking down the street.

is it much of a hunt if you fly in on a helicopter, round it up, step off with a high powered rifle, and shoot it? Or is that for sport? Obviously there's sport hunting yes, but where's the hunt in flying in and just shooting it?
"elephants are destructive" meanwhile people who moved in the area where they have been living for hundreds of years are apparently not destructive, what a bunch of hypocrites
What u get from this
meat and employment for the locals...and a reason to keep the elephants around rather than letting poachers eliminate the herds--which is what they've done across Africa where hunting has been banned.
TO MANY ASSHOLES HUNTERS IN THIS PLANET
@@garywatson9917 Shame you have no idea what you're talking about but continue to post nonsense. I derive no funds from these hunts...in fact, I pay for the privilege to be there. What has been your contribution to conservation?
@@garywatson9917 from The NY Times: The United States Fish and Wildlife Service last month moved to allow hunters to bring home trophies from elephants killed in Zimbabwe and Zambia. Safe to say, few conservationists saw it coming.
In a 39-page report, the agency cited Zimbabwe’s progress in creating a sound management plan for its 82,000 elephants and evidence that hunting revenue is in fact reinvested into conservation. Well-managed trophy hunting “would not have an adverse effect on the species, but can further efforts to conserve the species in the wild,” the agency concluded.
Humans can hunt animals but why can't animals hunt human?? 😅😂
If the elephant 🐘 is protected why is it being allowed to hunt it. Interesting
Elephants are very destructive to the environment. Their natural habitat has disappeared, so it's either manage the population, or allow the destruction, which will negatively impact all species & flora in the area.
He paid at least 100,000 dollars just for that tag. How much money have you gave to save elephants? 50 cents

Is any animal more cruel than a human being?
Funny
yea lots of them. Grizzly bears tend to eat their prey from the hind quarters to head. Leaving the prey animal alive while half of its body is eaten alive, causing unfathomable suffering and pain. Domesticated cats hunt out of fun of it, and lynx paralyze their prey by biting trough its spinal cord before eating it. Nature is not a Disney animated film. Your morality does not exist in nature
Uneducated
Considering the elephant died in a few moments after a gigantic injury
As opposed to being ripped apart and eaten alive

Depends what part of Africa I guess. But this hunt here is actually a part of the conservation effort for elephants and rhinos. They only do select hunts and all the money goes back into conservation and anti poaching efforts. Pretty sure it's working quite well too.

Population control
These hunts are typically done to specifically target infertile or violent animals that pose a risk to the extremely closely monitored elephant population
Most of the money paid is donated to the conservation and the meat is used to feed local villages
I have zero desire to ever do this. This is up there with going down to see the Titanic.
The only thing I want to hunt in Africa is poachers and human traffickers.
