Well done Botswana maintaining and good national herd with sensible management
What was the final weight on the tusks?
Shooting sticks at 5 yards… I’d be ashamed of myself for being such a level of non hunter.
You've obviously never hunted dangerous game!!
I'd be so disgusted and ashamed.
@joshgormally You're upset with the accepted game control methods of sovereign countries 1000s of miles away, yet - HYPOCRITICALLY - fine with the daily killing of hundreds of captive-bred animals down at your local abattoir? Hypocrite!!
I would appreciate it if you would take a moment at the end of these videos to discuss where each bullet penetrated and what tissue damage was done.
Have you played THCOTW?
My question is how did the 2nd headshot not cause him to go down instantly?
@@agentbubbles782maybe the caliber has Not enough punch ? What are the caliber of the rifles?
@@furtif223 the head shots were a 35gr Spitzer from a 22 Hornet.
Never hunted African game, but wondering why the hunter used a scope?! Anything within 100 yards...would much rather use iron sights with better peripheral.
Bunch of cowards killing a beautiful animal.
Hunters inject funds into these areas. These funds help pay for park rangers. More park rangers protect the animals and help address illegal poaching. Plus, the meat is all put to good use for many people who are protein deficient.
What have you personally done to help protect African wildlife and help the local people?
I can't agree more with you. I actually think it's also sociopathic.
You're upset with the legal implementation of established and proven necessary game control methods - yet are fine with the daily killing of captive-bred animals at your local abattoir!! You're just another hypocrite son.
@joshgormally ....since abattoir workers kill hundreds of captive-bred animals every day with your tacit consent, they (and you) must be worse sociopaths using your own judgement!! Hypocrite!!
So sad...
Have you done anything to first close down your local abattoir? They kill hundreds of captive-bred animals every day!!
Why?
That was one tough elephant!!
So, self defense or it counted against his license?
I'm sure he tagged it.
I wonder if it legal to take an elephant with a Serbu- BFG 50? it has twice the ft lbs that my 416 Rigby has
What do you think selouse would think
Should have left that beautiful elephant alone!!!!!
They're population needs to be controlled
Magnificent animal! Man's a natural destroyer. Was that the actual bull they were looking for?
So are elephants. They periodically have to be culled as they raze the countryside, destroying all the trees and vegetation. You Disney folks take a look and say "Oh, that's so cute!" and that's what you base your logic on. As for your question, no, it wasn't, but, it was taking on a definite threatening posture and committing everyone to the inevitable outcome.
Kakav bik to je 🐘
This is why you don't use a scope to hunt elephant. Amateur. His scope was not set for such close range. He's lucky he wasn't killed, had the elephant charged.... all bad.
A 1-X scope is perfectly allowable and smart, if you can't see your iron sights properly. Properly zeroed, you'll place that bullet more precisely with a scope than without. If there was an issue here, I'd put it on calibre and/or bullet weight and construction.
You obviously have some experience shooting African elephants. I hope you'll share.
How many have you killed?
All of them @@spamgwin4166
@@spamgwin4166 Sounds like a dozen or more... in his mind.
I've witnessed a so called game Warden, miss an elephant's brain whilst hovering above it in a helicopter. The distance was less than 5 yards...As in this situation, there's only one word. Pathetic!
Stop posting these without mentioning the rifle caliber and bullet used!!!!!

They probably use 700 nitro express look it up

5 yards, with a scoped rifle and shooting sticks. That’s not hunting.
You've obviously never hunted dangerous game before.
Wow Nice
This is disgusting. Elephants are smart animals. It's laughable that this is called hunting.
Horrible that these videos are allowed on youtube.
They're population needs to be controlled
They should be so as to alert the people that have no knowledge of the realities and consequences of over population and habitat invasion by humans in Africa wild. Unfortunately the wild animals become the victims.
Don't like it don't like don't watch and keep your opinion to yourself

They are overpopulated
@@bruhman571 African Elephants?!? They are on the threatened species list.
@@Splandrocitycertain cities were too good at conservation of elephants. It becomes dangerous for people to live, and these animals unfortunately have to go. It’s just life, as sad as it is.
Did you kill this elephant for so called sport? There's no mention why you set out to kill
Elephants, like EVERY other species, need their numbers to be controlled so they don't over compete for dwindling food sources, thus ensuring their specie survival. Legal sport hunting is a recognised (and accepted) effective game management strategy across Africa. The carcass - like everything else in Africa - is given FREE to feed the local community (as there's NO Social security or welfare paid out anywhere in Africa).
Looks like bigger bullets
It may just be me but as you get older seeing things die for sport is not something I want to see. I know we kill animals to eat etc. and even that is harder to justify but it is how we survive. I have seen to many examples of animals that tell me they know more and feel more than you think. I could never take down such an animal as that….
They are overpopulated
Go say that to the workers at your local abattoir- and see what reaction you get!!
Awesome video... Please don't let the women talk!
You killed that Beautiful, majestic elephant on the sole basis of patting each other on the back and giving your buddies a high-five. Killed the elephant, took pictures, tusks were taken to be sold on the black market, departed the area leaving mega-tons of elephant meat to rot????
They are overpopulated
Plus it probably fed a whole village. Or the entirety of the ecosystem
As with all the meat from the game legally hunted in Africa, it is given to the local community. This forms the only legal source of meat for such people. When the poachers realise the meat is given to them, they STOP POACHING!! Better still (through need for more meat) they them police their own local areas to stop outsiders poaching their wild specie populations!! The trick here is simple: a monetary price is placed on EACH animal - thereby creating the economic driver - to provide a liveloehood and employment for those to protect these wild populations for the future. QED!! NO other game management strategy has been as successful and effective than the legal, sustainable, hunting of game!! It's so successful that many places are being repopulated by game!! It's ironic but true that legal, sustainable hunting has INCREASED Africa's wildlife!! Want proof? Go watch: "A conservationist's cry" on YT.
Work on shot placement pretty low 1rst shot ,i thought u might be toast when it hit, armchai quarterbacking sorry😊
First shot too low, 2nd was too high!! Had the placement been reversed, the ele would've been brained.
impresive but if you want a real scare be charged by a baers wood mouse with only a 416 rigby between you and it
It's great stuff uploaded. What interests me though is why it took three shots to make the beast fall..... Would love to know....
Horrible shot placement, a great advert for hunting 🙄
Naw shot placement was fine, poor caliber and bullet selection for a frontal brain shit.
The hunter had his rifle sighted in at a distance greater that the target actually was. At such close range the scope becomes inaccurate. The shot was definitely low. Poor preparation, just bad ethics, bad practice, lesson learned.
If thats not the bull they wanted why shoot there was opportunity to back out ,
You an expert on elephant behavior? Ever shot one? This PH apparently has over 200 in the bag... if you can top that, I'll give credence to your assumption a retreat wouldn't have got them trampled into jelly.

What of the meat
All legally hunted meat in Africa is gven free to the local community as - quite possibly - it's their only legal way to obtain fresh meat.

In my opinion that bull was just curious and a bit of shouting or a warning shot should have turned him.. but hey nice bull anyway!

Do you have 200 elephant kills to your credit that you can make that assumption? The PH has and knows when the line's been crossed. Easy to make that call when you're not in the line of trampling.

Wrong . People have overpopulated the world , which is why there is less and less wildlife habitat.
@@tommurphree5630 True, but elaphant populations are on the rise in South Africa were you are aloud to hunt them and they aren't were it's illegal. So clearly they are doing something right

So you're calling out hunting in general 99% of animals shot are innocent. The population must be controlled
@@bruhman571 why can’t the population of humans be controlled. This earth belongs to all living beings equally. Who are we to decide to control the population of other living beings. Have you created them
Lol
Hunting tuskers with an elk rifle. Jeff killed that bull. How do you miss the brain at 5 yards with a scope? You Shhoooot low.
Adrenalin got the better of him..plus a loose tummy💩
Scopes become inaccurate at closer ranges, the distance they sighted it in at was greater than 5 yards, therefore the scope was inaccurate, it has happened to me so it’s not uncommon, also elephants have hard and thick skin, you also have the skull to deal with therefore a bullet would struggle to penetrate
But why shoot the animal at all;it’s not even a contest !!!😂
There are too many in Botswana. The environment can't take it and is being destroyed. Wake up this is not a Disney world.
Sure, shooting the most dangerous game animal when wounded "isn't a contest." Let's also just ignore that elephant hunting involves walking over dozens of kilometres every single day until you find a suitable bull. Yes, very easy as you put it.
@@maxmcqueen1196 I didn’t say it was easy just not necessary
@@matthiasgree7251 they are destroying farmers crops and livestock not the environment but just wait 2 years before the African Elephants dwindle to none in Botswana due to hunting. in general the African Elephants are still classified as vulnerable
@@maxmcqueen1196 so okay to kill an animal for fun as long as you sweat a little first ?
What amateur d head hunts elephant with a scope at such close proximity?!?!?
real big man
Maybe he has trouble picking up iron sights and a scope (1X) only makes the shot easier on both hunter and quarry. You must be one of those 2000 yd shot on elk boys.
@@rockwellrhodes7703 jfc how do you type with the PH's balls covering your eyes?
I guess you don't know what a variable power rifle scope looks like.
“Terrifying”” for only the Elephant did he have enough backup,, maybe a Gatling gun should be handy along with a few Grenades. Crappy shot from sticks is embarrassing
Y shoot when animal populations are dwindling and human population is exploding besides if animals have to be killed to show bravery then try using knife or machetes instead of a rifle . Sustainability of a species based on resources applies for humans also
They have to shoot these animals because they are over populated in that particular zone, causing too many damages to their environment, if they let these animals, in some time they all will die, that zone can't feed more elephants... That's studied, it's science... Also the money that the hunter pays for that elephant, comes back to the environment with anti poach and conservative works... You will find that the countrys that allow hunting have way more animals than the ones that don't allowed it
When I shoot something, it isn't to prove anything, especially to someone like you.
Expensive hunting big game. That was a beautiful beast. I'd have paid you $100,000. To let him live.

Cry about it. Hunting is the economy in these poor regions. Many decades ago, locals learned that gunshots meant food on the table, which is true to this day.
