Regular viewers may have noticed a trend in recent uploads: I'm really enjoying the Contention server, and Judas in well and truly on a 190-A kick so I've been doing a fair bit of warbirds. Sooner or later, these were bound to meet. Contention allows you to fly WW2 planes up against modern jets, and they're not just a gimmick. Turns out, they can actually be useful!

Some warbirds actually do a decent job of filling in for those oddball FAC-A aircraft (OV-10 Bronco, and some A-1 Skyrader variants). Some of them compare favorably to something like the A-1 Skyraider, although lacking in some of the payload an A-1 can carry.
Poor Apache felt that ⬆➡⬇⬇⬇.
How does the FAC mechanic work? Does it automatically pop up and look for targets at a certain range or do you have to activate it to search? I would love to fly some of the trainers on MP if they actually have a purpose.
I'll be doing a guide series on the server soon, but the short version is: it's automatically enabled for all planes with the ability. Every 30 seconds it searches an area around you for close enough targets with line of sight and reports the results in the top right. You can then use the F10 Comms menu to target a detected unit then arty/smoke/lase it
I tried the server after seeing your video. Really like it so far. Id be interested in more videos about utilizing the warbirds fully. Did not realise that was bad. Why, other than a waste of mw50?
Idk what others do, but I like 3000rpm for takeoffs. Just have to be ready for when the tailwheel comes up. That's when you have to be on your game. Maybe try waiting as long as possible b4 going up on 2 wheels.
