Just as a heads up, Flash should never corrupt in normal operation, if that is the case, you probably have a routine that is not monitoring the power rail before undergoing a write or erase procedure
Under extreme conditions (space) or very rarely, may you see a bit flip occur as an affect of x-ray.

See that yellow thunder in the upper right corner? That's voltage brownout. Also, disable swapping if you want the SD card to last. they're not built to constantly move data.
10 million erase or write operations surely. But yeah, if we're talking updating everyone 10ms... Your lifespan is limited.
@@FerdinandReisch 10 mil at best. Lower end cards will have something closer to 1mil. Wear leveling is very limited without sacrificing bandwidth (which in itself is very limited for SD cards) therefore we can't assume that cycles will be spread out evenly, meaning you will have much, much less capacity on individual transistors. The problem with swapping is that they often result in rewriting the same blocks over and over until they die. Dumping tons of logs can be troublesome too but much less so than swaps. This of course is a lesser issue with newer gen raspberries with 2GB or more in RAM, but during the time I used to play with them we had a gig or less shared with video data. The most common reason of corruption of course is sudden power outage. The display used in the video is one of the official pi touchscreens and costs less than 100 bucks.
@@TheChrisey Interesting, tbh I havent played around with Pis a lot, just basing it off embedded development. But now that you explain it, shared memory would be hard on the SD card.
When you say bandwidth is limited when performing wear leveling, do you mean this in the sense of having delays in writing when completing a full sector?
Agreed, loss of power during write/erase, but in the case where you have a battery constantly connected... this should really only be an issue when replacing the battery, and thus shouldnt occur often. They either lack a good power supply that can maintain supply during cranking etc, or they dont have a good power saving mode when the ACC is not switched.

Deffo go to a trigger kit, much better than a CAS. any 2nd hand unit you get will just be worn out as your stock one. Lots of options for trigger kits
Low or underpowered power warning .. top right lighting icon showing... Plug in another power source 5 volts with 2 amps or better and it will not slow down..

I love geeking out too. Anyway, you could use a UPS hat to prevent abrupt power cut to the RPi when you turn off the ignition and let it shut down normally. Something like this: my.cytron.io/p-ups-power-hat-for-raspberry-pi
Btw, wats the software used? And is that the official RPi display, is it readable under the sunlight? And do you use a physical cable to connect to your ECU/OBD port?

Hi Sammit! What is a CAS? What is a trigger kit? You repeat these things over and over, but you don't explain. I have no idea what your talking about. This is a noob CZcams mistake.
Shane Black Lord cas is a short for Cam Angle Sensor and a trigger kit measures the cam signal way more advanced and precise compared to the oem cas if I’m correct
He has explained it in previous videos

Amir 020 Hi Amir! Thanks for the explanation, I really appreciate it. I hate when people use terms without explaining what it is. Other CZcams channels for out of their way not to make this mistake. They even state the reasons for not doing this, repeatedly. I guess some people don't appreciate what it was like when they first started and didn't know what these terms meant. It also does help to say things like he explained it in an earlier video. Really? Which video, when? Why not just say cam angle sensor?
