This is a remake of Super Mario Bros. 2 present in Super Mario All-Stars. Aside from musical and graphical improvements, it also provides a save feature.
Thanks to a glitch involving Wart ( tasvideos.org/Forum/Posts/222666 ) and a few other optimizations ( tasvideos.org/5839S ), author mtvf1 ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/m... ) improves his previous effort by 00:03.44 seconds.
Runs of the NES counterpart ( tasvideos.org/1724M ) and GBA version ( tasvideos.org/2482M ) are also available.

I hope in the future we can get upscaled remakes of older games like this.
It's interesting how the save feature allows for completely different routing from the NES TAS. The differences in which exploits you can perform also means we see a little more comparable utility from Luigi and Peach

Also, I like how mtvf1 used the Japanese version of Super Mario All-Stars, and they still use "Toad" instead of "Kinopio" (what Toad is called in Japan) in "Super Mario USA"
I think it's because it's called Super Mario "USA" and they use the American names
How in the world does anyone find these glitches?

If you throw a shyguy, then grab the bird and throw that in to the shyguy, then grab a turnip and throw that in to the bird's corpse, then jump on the turnip and ride it through the air, you'll clip through the ground and reappear two thirds of the way through the level!"

Even as a kid, I was kind of baffled at the decision to name each and every enemy. I dunno, as long as I was able to distinguish them from one another, it really didn't matter what they were called, so I just ended up calling them names like "flying mask thing" or "big-ass ostrich thing". Maybe I'm a weirdo like that.

How I remember Mario 2, pick anything but Mario.
Yeah...Toad would've been the most Contributor, of course. I mean:
Mario - Well-balanced; superior jump when charged
Luigi - High jump, but slow velocity; great when reaching high places
Toad - Fast item pickups, but poor jump; great when fighting bosses
Peach (or, in this, Toadstool) - floats when jumped (or as people called it "flying"), but poor item pickup; great when reaching far distances
Mario : Well balanced with a nice charge jump.
Luigi : Can jump higher, but he has a bad fraction on the ground and it is not easy to land on some small platform with him.
Toad : Super fast and he goes even more when he hold a enemy. He frame to pick up a object is super fast, but his jump is not the best. Toad is not only great against boss, but he is the best character to speedrun.
Princess Peach : A nice floating mecanic and jump, but she slow to move and her frame to pick up is really slow compared to the other characters.
Ew. After hearing the warp sound a couple times i found it more scarier than i did before.

The interesting thing about TASes, is that while we have frame perfect input, we can always optimize better. As such, there's still no "perfect" run. XD
What about HappyLee's 4:57.31 on Super Mario Bros.?
@SnickerYT It's not a 4:54, it's a 4:57.31 timed from POWER ON, you could time it the way regular speedruns do but that isn't done in TASing.
Interesting how some of the glitches used where the same in the nes version.
Theoretically nes and snes versions have the same code but different graphics and sound

What I find strange is that this is the Japanese version, but it has a lot of English Text
Because Japanese games in early SNES games takes too long to make their own Japanese localization text, so they reuse the English one by deafult.

Yeah, but it takes longer to beat the game if it's used, which is especially important to consider in a Speedrun.

Faithful Shadows- Pianista, PT2 and more looks like a subgame of a mashup and usually the games in those are changed slightly to avoid copyright so yes and no
