    Thanks for the video and comments. If you have any poetry in your soul, you will appreciate the SuperCub, you will get it. James May waxed lyrical about it ( the original version) and this latest generation has been made with obvious love and reverence by the Honda design team. It's more a tribute to the original bike than practical transport - let's face it there are cheaper alternatives, and the 'online expert' is not slow to point this out. But it is still one of the cheapest new bikes out there, and as you say there are plenty of us who do get it, and are willing to part with a few extra dollars to have a true icon of the motorcycle world in our garage. I loved the opening video BTW, very nicely shot. 👍🇦🇺

      Thanks so much for watching. It really does come down to a bit of style and nostalgia. Same as buying a MINI, or modern Vespa. They aren't the best deal ever, but they have great style and amazing history.

    As a super cub 125 owner myself it is my first motorcycle and i absolutely love this bike and how simple and cheap it is. I couldn't afford a car or a sports bike. Its not only my first motorcycle but my first and only vehicle.

      Scandinavian descendant here too. I find it funny that taller people are just fine with small bikes in America, whereas we're the ones actually having to be scrunched if the bike was too small.
      .. now at the same time.. KLR650 be feeling so comfy with 36 inch inseam. But the SuperCub and Trail 125 (Hunter Cub) both are more practical for vast majority of people.
      Edit/continuation: ... and don't feel bad to sit on and utilize either.

    You’ve pretty much nailed it on the Super Cub. Only the unmentioned Yamaha 125 Zuma would be a true 125 comparison but since that is a scooter with a CVT it’s still apples to oranges. It has storage and good utility but no “character” like the SC.👍

    • @Dailycozwerks
      @Dailycozwerks  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Agreed! The Zuma 125 is definitely a solid option. Same with the Vino 125 if you want a bit more style. Thanks for watching!

    Very well done/said video! After 54 years of riding and over 50 bikes of all types, sizes, and genre's -- heading back to the start -- a Hnda Cub -- just like you said . . . just looking for fun on backroads, don't need Ducati performance any more - just some wind in my face,

    Great video, I also always find it funny when people complain that the bike is too slow. As you said, it is in fact a 125cc bike... how fast do people expect it to go? lol I have a Grom (was still called the MSX in Thailand when I got it) it has the same exact engine just a 4 speed manual instead of semi auto and its perfectly fine speed wise. I have taken that bike all across Thailand on road trips with friends, and always had a blast. I have a slightly faster 155cc bike I take if I think I am gonna need more speed, but honestly that Honda 125cc engine is a beauty, and as you pointed out the cost of ownership is basically nothing. And to be fair. the Cub and the CT are probably the two best looking motorbikes in the game right now, so that's just the cherry on top.

    I bough a second hand cub in 75 as a winter hack a role it still fills, it was kind of a beater when I bought it but nearly 50 years and 140 thousand miles later it's still with me, as long as they get regular oil and filter changes they seem pretty much unkillable. As well as being the bike of choice for ice and snow it's also handy for local trips, nearest market is a five mile round trip all of it in 30 limits which makes using a litre sports bike seem a bit pointless.

    I heard, that the body size issue is easily solvable with upgrading to a bench seat. I heard that they are much more comfortable than the orignal seat as well

      Check the laws where you live . Where I live you must register, insure, and have a drivers license to take this bike on the road and I believe this is true for all other US states.

    when people complain that something is what it is... it is often best to tell them to return to whatever makes them happy as clearly this is causing them distress... somehow.

    Yo! Thanks so much for making these videos. Quick question from the top (sorry if you have answered this in the past) What year is your Super Cub? The reason I ask is because I'm looking at a 2020 used one in the near future and wasn't sure if there are any major differences between the 2020 and upgraded 2022 models beyond the oil filter to consider. I'm looking for a bike to get back and forth to work with great gas mileage and reliability. My first bike was a 76 Honda CB550, so I'm a little biased when it comes to Honda! The older I get this all makes sense because I first got involved with bikes on a moped and have owned a Puch Maxi in the past. I just wish finding the older smaller displacement bikes was a little bit easier, but I think one of the biggest appeals to the upgraded Super Cub is some of the modern amenities. The looks department hasn't changed and I sincerely hope it never does, because it is perfect. The Cub content is awesome and it is probably going to point me in the direction of getting this bike and hopefully hold onto forever.

      Ours is a 2021 purchased with zero miles on it in 2022. I would honestly say just buy whichever is the best deal. Small changes really won't make a massive difference in the long run.

    KTM Duke 200 requires a oil & filter change every 1000 klms or 621 miles. I think that's a little crazy.

    Worse here in Quebec City today, it was a mild winter from mid Dec to Jan 8th. Now a foot of snow and double digit lows. I'm about your size. I've been unemployed since Nov 3rd-if I don't get work soon, my plans of buying a minimoto on May 1st, could be shot down.

    One thing to keep in mind is to remember to turn off the fob in addition to turning the switch to off when not using. If you don’t you may run the battery dead. Does anyone agree?

    • @Mofapilot
      @Mofapilot Před 26 dny

      Yes, it saves the battery on the FOB AND the bikes turns into a kind of sleep mode, when the FOB is not in vincinity/switched off. I have the bike for 4 years now and never had a flat battery even when putting it in storage during winter.

  • @rockinginafreeworld3256

    It’s a pain in the butt to remove the battery.

    • @Mofapilot
      @Mofapilot Před 26 dny

      It's not worse than on scooters, but how often do you need to access the battery? Mine 2018 had one battery swap and I installed a tender cable for accessories. So not that of a hustle. There are cars out there where you have to remove the front end to replace the headlight bulbs...

    Talking about dreadful weather and I notice your nose piecings.. gotta say, would hate to have a pierced nose right now, with how cold it's been (no central heating in the part of the house I reside in, (also in Georgia)) and so I've consistently had a runny nose.
    Nice piercings and I know this is off-topic, but I am seriously curious how being in cold, wet, drizzly weather messes with it. Does wiping your nose-tip irritate/jostle the piercing inside your nose at all?
    Sorry to be off-topic, nice piercings and whatnot, just curious how that is like when it's such gloomy weather lately.

  • @MakisOfEquinox
    @MakisOfEquinox Před 6 měsíci +1

    I think the main problem for these especially in the US is how big our country is compared to everywhere else in the world. Things are pretty spaced out here and places that aren't have a ton of hills that these lower power vehicles have a hard time getting around.

    • @Dailycozwerks
      @Dailycozwerks  Před 6 měsíci +1

      A lot of it comes down to the car drivers, too. In many other markets, they are driving slower and showing way more respect to people on two wheels. It's the same as the poor treatment cyclist experience here. I live in a major city with mostly 35mph speed limits, and cars regularly drive 65mph on those streets.

    • @MakisOfEquinox
      @MakisOfEquinox Před 6 měsíci

      @@Dailycozwerks again that's all because everything is so spread out. When you have Europeans where everything is a ten minute walk away and driving 55mph gets you from one end to the other of your country in three hours the attitude is a lot different to a country where a single state like Texas where you can drive for 12 hours and still be in the same state.

      There's a British youtuber who did from England to Morocco all on his 125 honda monkey.
      Distance is not a problem. As long you're motivated, it can do it.
      Myself, I've ordered a honda dax 125. Same engine and trans as the super cub.

    • @MakisOfEquinox
      @MakisOfEquinox Před 6 měsíci

      @@SandStormPower no one said it can't do it. And again you're talking about much more densely populated areas across multiple countries most of which are built around things being closer together and not needing to travel as far compared to the US where everything is massively spaced apart and population density is a lot lower which makes a huge difference.
      And I wouldn't want to make a 2000 mile drive in a car let alone a bike that's just stupid. Maybe if it was spread out over a week and a half it would be enjoyable, for sure on my shadow where it's comfortable and I can ride for 3 hours no fatigue, but on a tiny uncomfortable and underpowered bike going long distance is just a struggle session.
      I did see a fellow do a weekend trip with a buddy on tomos mopeds and that looked like a great time, but it was only 600 or so miles in comparison.
