    Fun video.. small bikes are a lot of fun. Though less so on the high speed roads in the USA, I'd take the super Cub.. probably more reliable long term.
    Take a look at the old original super Cubs. They're practically indestructible.
    The CVT and the other scooter will self-destruct at some point or require maintenance.
    17 mi each way is not a road trip.

      For real! I did around 800 miles touring Vietnam on a Honda Blade 110. Carbed, mechanical drums, about as simple as bikes get, climbing up crazy passes and doing extremely rough roads. Context is important, though. Road speeds are generally much lower, and the vast majority of Vietnamese are riding around on similar bikes. Long story short, don't estimate small bikes! They are as capable as you are brave.

    2 years later I have a request guys!
    I believe the new Yamaha Xmax and the Piaggio BV 400 are probably the best maxi scooters you can get in the states. I, and I'm sure many scooter enthusiasts, would LOOOOOOVE a comparison video. I think you might find yourselves pleasantly surprised if you haven't driven them.
    As far as I know no one has done a comparison on them yet. I think you guys would kill it. Hope to see it, if not keep up the great work guys!

    • @geraldscott4302
      @geraldscott4302 Před 6 měsíci

      The Xmax is downright UGLY, both its body design and the fact that it is nearly 100% flat black. In bright red or blue or silver it would look 100 times better. I don't know about the BV400, But I have ridden the BV350, and was quite impressed with it. I ride a 2006 Vespa GT200, which currently has 14,000+ miles on it. It's a light metallic mint green, with lots of chrome aluminum trim, and silver painted wheels. It has the matching Vespa top box. It will hit 80 mph GPS, and climbs hills just fine, even with my 240 pounds on it. It is also carbureted, and does not have ABS, two things I really appreciate. I would prefer it over any new computer scooter.

The Rupp was a mini bike with a CVT it technically had a 172cc lawn mower type engine but couldn’t keep up with my friends Honda CT 70. But it was fun to ride. My Honda CL 125 was my 1st street bike after I got my Motorcycle license and rode it in the highway sometimes but remember the speed limit was 55. Also rode it off road. Top speed was around 60. I have owned a PCX since I bought it new in 2015. I routinely rode it on camping trips with a tent under the seat in the Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia area. Did Skyline Drive, Gettysburg, Harpers Ferry a lot. My wife can ride onthe back too with really no influence on power. The key was to set the GPS TO avoid highways. Scenic old two lane roads and urban stuff was fine. I can getup to 67 and hold it but its a lot more comfortable cruising around 55 to 60. Kind of a sweet spot. I've ridden the ADV and its even a bit more capable as an update of the same bike. The Trail is amazing at what its named for...trails. You'd have an amazing time on these machines if you rode them in that way. A commute of that length would be nothing on a PCX / ADV if you chose the appropriate route.

    People have been using the Honda Supercub and its variants like the Honda Biz and Honda Wave to cross continents. They are way more than just a scooter, they can take anything you throw at them. This wasn’t a real “road trip” in my humble opinion.

    I like the video. I really would like to see Honda make a 350ADV. A little more powerful and cheaper than a 750ADV and the same amount of storage as a 150 ADV. I am looking for the 150ADV to check out in person

    I sure hope a gas tank doesn’t explode on you while you’re knocking drops off the nozzle. Metal on metal strikes on an open gas tank is a bad idea, and a bad habit you should break.
