The ease of reparability for dell was one of the main reasons why I choose it over a macbook. However, I never knew the xps was that easy to dissemble!

What’s the number or code on the screwdriver did you use to open the fan and the CPU?

i was thinking the ram and wifi on motherboard and maybe including power button are because of security reasons mostly. I didnt think about before but to break encryption used to be mainly only possible by hijacking a working computer and taking out the ram where the encryption keys were stored as long as they were still powered cause powered off ram ERASES everything it stores. so u could break hdd/sdd whatever storage encryption.
i was watching to find out if i can remove the ram ! But you clarified its actually really soldered on the motherboard. Thank you .

What's the metal square to the right of the SSD? My laptop stopped working and got extremely warm in that area when I attempted to charge it (to no avail).

i broke the top 3 plastic clips on the laptop itself now when i put it back together there is a bit of a gap and you can see the flex in the aluminum when you push down on it, any thing i can do?

Not really, unless you want to carefully use some flexible glue like silicone, you would need to tape it down tightly until it cures. Silicone should be safe for any electrical contacts and can be peeled off later if needed.

hey when I put the base cover back on, I don't get a satisfying click. Also I feel there's a little gap near the vent area. Is this normal?

You may have broken off some of the clips that hold the metal panel and the palm rest assembly together. Dell literature recommends avoiding prying the machine open from the back, for what it's worth!

My xps 9370 is giving me some issues like when I plug it in with the type c charger the metal parts are giving static shocks. Like when touch the metal parts, it feels like it’s vibrating! Is there any fix? I've checked all grounding and earthing, the problem seems to be in the main body of the laptop!

Usually they are separate from the keyboard, or can be separated. As long as it has its own ribbon and can be physically separated from the keyboard.

Same here, any advice on how to proceed?
I accidentally already broke a part of the plastic housing… and after 5 minutes of trying to get it off I realized that I literally cut some skin off of my fingers lol

@@barbarossa11 I bought a `spudger` set from Amazon which contains lots of tools for opening these laptops and which can also be used to open up mobile phones and other electronic gadgets too. The way I do it is once all the screws are out, look around the edges to see if there are any gaps larger than others and then use the plastic and nylon opening tools (NOT the metals ones - throw those away) to gently work around separating the bottom from the chassis. The way to do it is gently, and not `bull in a china shop` with levering everything in sight like you are pumping water from a well, just gently work the tools around the edges and slowly one by one each of the clips will release. The second time the bottom is removed it will be a lot easier as the clips wear slightly each time the bottom is removed.
On all the laptops I have opened I haven`t damaged any of them as the nylon tools are softer material than the laptop and are designed to break before the laptop does.
