Kashmir Shaivism: The Guru and Shaktipat

“Gurur-upayah” (the Guru is the means) states Shiva Sutra 2.6. Kashmir Shaivism emphasizes the immense value of receiving shaktipat initiation - which awakens the Kundalini - and guidance from a Siddha, a Self-realized master. One’s encounters with a true Guru may come in dreams, visions, or embodied in the form of living teacher. However it comes, this is a supreme blessing.
