I have friends with a kid who's just like this kid. The school can't keep him out because they are required to provide education and his parents have the money to take him from Dr to Dr.
They didn't want an oppositional defiant diagnosis... So they saw 8 Drs until they got him a diagnosis of autism - pathological demand avoidance. Basically he resents being asked or demanded to do anything and responds with the pathological behavior. Lying, and violence mostly. They are furious all the time that the school doesn't accommodate their child's behavior with the right accommodations and one on one behavioral stuff They even claim he suffered severe trauma at the hands of the school. But his behavior is that they ask him to do something and he melts down and violently lashes out to the point where he needs to be restrained by more than one adult.
But When I listen to their complaints it infuriates me on behalf of other parents and children. What they don't seem to understand is that it is equally traumatic for the other children in that classroom to see their child freaking out and violently throwing his weight around and attacking people. It's great to accommodate child disability at much as you can. But your child's right to an education ends at where he ruins every other child's ability to feel safe and happy at school. And they have spent the last 8 years trying to fix this problem and he has not in fact gotten better at school. My husband and i are basically just waiting for him to injure another child or adult to the point where a lawsuit is levied against them. It's horrible to watch. I think a lot of people don't realize how hard it is to get these disruptive, violent children out of the public school system because of the right to an education laws

OK guys there’s actually a ton of stuff that you guys left out of this story. It’s actually even crazier than it seems. Somethings definitely wrong with this kid, but I wonder what it is about him that made the school not want to address the seriousness of the situation. Apparently his parents were supposed to be with him all the time because he disrupts the class so much, and they weren’t there that day. This kid has also said in the past that he wanted to light this teacher on fire and watch her die.According to the news, I heard.(I mean what’s going on at home that makes a six year old even think something like that?) A kid had told a teacher that this kid was carrying a gun, and nobody did anything about it. I think they checked his backpack but he had already moved the gun to his pocket. A teacher said they thought they saw him put a gun in his pocket but the administration said his pockets are too small to carry a gun? Pretty weird. Apparently there were several red flags but the administration would not let anybody really search this kid because it was near the end of the school day and they didn’t wanna deal with it. The parents and the school definitely need to be held accountable and if I were that teacher, I would be suing the hell out of that school.

its not a lack of supervision, its a lack of raising your children. clearly something more than just (turning your attention momentarily) is going to cause a child to act like this. They managed to associate guns with targeted behavior. That means they had a source of information to understand that using guns gets rid of people that do bad things. so that emotional connection comes from somewhere, and I'd be curious to know where. cause the average 6 year old wouldn't see a gun in that way (its intentional way) they'd play with it, which is why accidents are far more common with children than intentional assault. this is far more interesting in that regard because he attacked someone who he was angry with. Those kinds of behavioral problems suggest a very very chaotic home life. one where having his PHONE taken away causes great amounts of psychological distress, so chances are, he is on his phone A LOT, as a form of emotional regulation. This behavior screams ADHD, and a mixture of a violent home OR exposure to gun violence perhaps on the internet. Kids aren't stupid.
There is also a possibility someone was whispering in his ear. Maybe someone online who thought they were being funny or didn't realize they were talking to a child. You know how many people online are violent and pro-gun that would freely type a comment like: "Guns keep the world safe from horrible people, if someone wants to mess with me or my family, I'm going to shoot them!" and what does that do to an emotionally unstable child? Fuels their behavior.
I have a sinking suspicion that this is going to, once again...fuel the anti-gun laws. Sadly. You can guarantee everyone is going to over look the family dynamic and the unusual silence of the school to address behavioral problems in children. And for all we know that teacher might have been an actual bitch, we all know one. Don't let pretty fool you.

In Germany, two girls murdered a 12-year-old girl with more than 30 stitches.
Since the perpetrators are only 12 and 13 years old, they are not of age to be punished under German law.
According to investigations, they probably did it because the victim informed adults about bullying.
It is an important topic, we have to accept at some point that children are not the same as each other and there must be possibilities, in extreme cases, to bring children to trial.
There must be justice for the victims, no matter the age of the perpetrator.

Anyone heard about the recent case in Germany? A 12-year-old girl got her life erased by her two girl friends which were 12- and 13-year-old. They apparently lead her into a forest and knived her many times and some time after that, one of these girls made a TicToc dance video.
According to the law they can't and will not be charged. They even protect them from "Cyber-bullying" and keep them anonymous. These two families also apparently left that town.

He doesn't need to be around other children at ALL.
He LEARNED this violence from somewhere, and somebody needs to figure out why and how and where, and take care of it, before it keeps escalating. Which it will, if there are zero consequences and he learns at 6 years old that shooting people doesn't get him in trouble.

I taught third grade in the county school system for 4.5 years, having resigned this past December. Abby's experience certainly came as a shock but not quite unthinkable, especially the details regarding how she and others followed procedures of alerting administration and how her life was still put at risk. It's a glaring reflection of the current state of politics in education at the school level.
My experience is hardly comparable, but I believe it relates to the idea of safety in schools. Sparing any sensitive details, one of the things (among many) that led to my decision to leave was being told by admin to essentially barricade myself in my classroom and hide from an angry parent that meant me harm and had a history of noncompliance with our SRO (school resource officer). This parent was allowed in the building after being escorted out in handcuffs just a few months prior for seeking to harm their child's teacher the previous school year.
"the teachers are afraid of admin, admin is afraid of parents, parents are afraid of their own kids, and the kids fear *no one*."

So not only does he get trauma but he also gets a ridiculous amount of debt as a side dish, but this kid, though yeah I get they're 6,brought a gun to school multiple times and shot the teacher doesn't get any real punishment. That's insane to me.

Children like this have always existed. The reason it seems like there are more kids like this now than ever before it’s due to something called “mainstreaming.” This is a public education policy implemented in the US during Bush’s No Child Left Behind where kids who would normally be institutionalized or sent to an alternative school are instead put into mainstream classrooms with other students, and given a “para-educator“ to sit with them and give them any extra support they might need. In this kid’s case, he was so out of control that his parents had to take on the role of para-educator bc there wasn’t any professional who could handle him as he often had to be physically restrained. This child clearly needs to be institutionalized because he’s obviously in a bad home if he was able to get access to that gun at all as a 6-year-old, and mainstreaming him had been a disaster for sometime before the shooting incident because he just could not mentally handle the mainstream classroom environment

    • @bebop2523
      @bebop2523 Před rokem

@@Kaybye555 it’s not just that we need more of these institutions to exist, there are parents who are offered help and hospitalization for their mentally disturbed children and they *refuse*. Think of Ethan Crumbley‘s parents, who refused to take him to the psych ward right before he shot up his school, they were able to refuse the principal’s request to give Ethan treatment, and they were able to demand that he be sent back to his main stream classroom. Think about Nicholas Cruz, the Parkland shooter, whose mother was offered mental health services for him over 160 times during his childhood, she refused every single time and he got sent back to his main stream classroom every single time. It seems pretty likely that there was a similar situation with the six year old shooter since he had threatened to kill multiple teachers and classmates in the months leading up to the shooting, yet was somehow still allowed back into the classroom. Prior to NCLB, it was much easier for schools to expel a kid or do you send a kid to an alternative school by court order and override the parents. At a certain point, parents like those who are in denial need to be overridden, because their refusal to accept that their child needs to be institutionalized is actively putting other children and teachers in danger

If this isn't dealt with now this kid will definitely become a life long criminal or murderer.

I live in Virginia and they’ve implemented policies in certain schools for see through backpacks now. During my freshman year of high school, my school had a plethora of 💣 threats to the point where we were constantly being pulled out of class. They put metal detectors outside of the cafeteria (they would also do bag searches) and the building doors, there were constant fights happening, kids were doing drugs and sneaking in alcohol on campus. It was really easy to skip classes (with little to no parent follow up mind you) and even leave the building even though we had a closed campus which meant we weren’t allowed to peruse the courtyard outside of class. I remember they brung in the search dogs into my acting class once and that wasn’t the only instance in which they did bring dogs. They would do random locker searches and we also had to have meetings about these issues in the auditorium. The parents are absolutely responsible for these happenings because kids can’t get away with doing things their parents don’t allow especially considering their lack of resources, transportation, and employment. Keep your kids level headed and busy, not just busy to be occupied but rather to be motivated. Kids with nothing to lose and no purpose are just like adults with those same circumstances only you can actually blame an adult for their actions and for the child you can really only blame the parents and their piss poor parenting.
