- Physical confrontations on UCLA’s campus had been relatively minor until late Tuesday night when pro-Israel counter-protesters lobbed fireworks at the encampment and attempted to dismantle the barricades. KTLA 5's Kimberly Cheng reports. May 1, 2024.

Well here is what UCLA says about it's students, first from the "True Bruin Values."
*I will respect the rights & dignity of others.*
*I will be accountable as an individual & member of this community for my ethical conduct.*
The code of conduct (both student and group), which is more binding, has sections on:
202.11b Harassment *conduct that is sufficiently severe... so as to interfere with or limit an individuals ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities or opportunities offered by the University, or creates a work environment that is intimidating, hostile, or abusive*
102.08 Conduct that Threatens Health or Safety *Conduct that threatens the health or safety of any person*
There are other sections that also can be read as applying to this but we'd be getting into the weeds at that point.
It's a good point that UCLA is a public school, which receives public funds and therefore is bound by the first amendment more stringently as an organization.
But these rules I shared are agreed to by the students as a prerequisite for attending, and violating them is clearly prescribed a punishment. So the university does have the right to discipline or expel anyone violating their code of conduct, as that student is not only a person subject to the constitution, but also is subject to the rules that regulate their association with the university.
Remember when you would see little kids at the stores throwing a fit, falling on the ground and screaming and thought “ what the hell are going to be like when they become adults?”. Well, here’s the answer.

I’m sure 2024 Fall enrollment will drastically decrease at UCLA.
A metal barrier = 140.00 each and a Plywood sheet = 40.00 each. These STUDENTS must have a lot of money. Why does a STUDENT bring a 500.00 + tent with them to college into a very small dorm room and take up valuable space from them and their room mates. Makes no sense!

At UT-Arlington, had a student pull the fire alarm on final exam day, when finals were rescheduled, they did it again. Finally, the school posted police at every fire alarm lever and finals were given. I don't mean to dismiss the students or their message, but let's see if this continues past finals week is all I'm saying.
You can not blame the police on this. The campus wanted to wait and let them protest. As soon as police were asked to assist they were there.
