- Investigations are underway after pro-Palestinian encampments and demonstrations took place at USC and UCLA in late April and early May.
Earlier in the week, police removed a massive pro-Palestinian encampent at UCLA and hundreds of people were arrested in the aftermath. Many are criticizing the universities for not stepping in earlier to take action before things escalated.
KTLA's John Fenoglio reports on May 3, 2024.
KTLA 5 News - Keeping Southern Californians informed since 1947.
It's not free speech when you destroy property and harass people with whom you don't agree with.
What property was destroyed? I think one window was broken from what I have heard. The violence you see in this video is done by the counter protestors. And harassing people? Who is being harassed because it looks like these students are getting harassed by the cops and the counter protestors and agitators.
Rule by law, not rule of law
Are you talking about the pro-iseal thugs that were attacking and harassing peacefully protesting anti-war students? The same people who were throwing fireworks into the encampment setting things on fire? Are you talking about the campus police who watched on as that was happening and did nothing for 2 hours? Because yeah I agree.
@@johnd.2778 bingo, someone gets it. Its peaceful till interference by opposition, similar playbook as the George Floyd incident-granted some of those were genuine riots structured around burglary during times of weakness.
@@johnd.2778No, the pro-Hamas thugs.
Not pro Palestinian. It’s PRO HAMAS.
Don’t take the bait. You are either smarter than that, or you are not. Check your emotional bias. Free Palestine.
Exactly. They are pro-Hamas.
Well parents, this is where your hard earned money went. Now come pick up your kid.
Where do you find these people to interview? Have they been living under a rock?
They attacked the police. Infact the police had to retreat and get back up. This was not peaceful.
As Pelosi said to the Student protests in Hong Kong: A beautiful scene to behold 🤣🤣🤣
Paid agitators.
This might blow your mind but there are a lot of people who believe so completely against something that they might actually go and protest against it and they would do it for free.
not all.
Which camp?
Not the pro peace/life camp right?!
I can see the pro genocide camp as being not necessarily paid but backed by local officials to antagonize the pro peace 🕊️ camp to get them to be violent so as to undermine the peace/life rally.
The anti protesters sure as hell weren't. They fought back.
So same like to paid protesters in Hong Kong by US NGOs like NED or USAID 🤣🤣🤣
how come they dont protest against the ukrainien war
It's not the hip thing to do and not on the agenda of the Marxist organizations they are a part of.
I also wonder...
Because they haven't been paid and/or ordered to.
Because the US isn't funding Russia... It's really not that hard man
@@DigitalDeath88 who is doing the paying and the ordering? Who is the one having that much power to get students to risk getting arrested and potentially getting scholarships/grants pulled or kicked out of school all because someone ordered or paid them? That sounds like a huge risk. I wonder why no one has ever come forward to admit to being told to protest or proof of payment?
Why is it so hard to believe that students might have their own minds and guess what? They might not support war or ethnic cleansing and they certainly don’t support their school or gov’t spending their money to fund it either.
Obviously, you can’t wrap your mind around that thought so the easy answer is that they must be ordered or paid to protest. Ok, sure Jan. 🙄
Shame on these students for continuing to victimize native Americans and continuing to occupy their lands. They should be expelled! The hypocrisy is monumental.😢
They haven't got a clue of what's going on. Indoctrination can do strange things to joung minds.
No such thing as a native American.

@@jeremyvogt102 True
They asked them to leave and they got the results.
You should be reporting on the outside funding coming in to these protests! Not just college students!!
expel and jail, the graffiti alone is bad enough but the created a complete public danger , blocking people spitting shouting ect this is not protest its bullying
It’s called their first amendment rights but I don’t think I have seen any bullying done by the protestors. I’ve seen cops bullying and pro-Z*on*st people trying to agitate and cause the movement to look bad but not the actual students protesting.
material things over human life 😂
You should be investigating why it happened in the first place and who is paying for it. Scrutinizing the police is not the direction we need to go. Their job is hard enough.
Media lies keeps this going!
Yeah because the mainstream media isn't basically hasbara propaganda at this point.
She never mentions the Vandalism. That’s not free speech.
Yeah, those Boston tea party guys should’ve just stayed home and accepted the monarchy rules. Those Boston citizens shouldn’t have agitated the Red coats, the British needed to set an example. The police have to instigate and escalate violence, so the news can record them fighting back and say they started it, because optics matter more than any so called truth.
Ok fine them but majority are still peaceful protesting and not vandalizing. Though I know for sure shooting fireworks into crowds can be considered attempted murder. Which isn't free speech for sure.
Once a single person vandalizes public property, then no one has freedom of speech. Putin should invite you to be his spokesperson.
Hitler, Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong-un gave a thumbs up.
@@ddiisns What do you mean? There's videos of the protestors harassing black and Jewish people on campus who were just passing through the protestors on their way to class. That's not a peaceful protest.
All they had to do was to turn on the sprinklers. That would have cleared them out.
Start static, then play victim. That’s CAIR in a nutshell.
Destruction and disruption is not peaceful demonstration.
Police escalated the situation just as they always have in American history. Nothing has changed because the rich and powerful always value insured property over human life.
The protests are about as peaceful as the people they're supporting-Hamas
@@darthtechnologies553 "checkpoints with signs saying zionists not welcome."
Protests are peaceful as Israel
The students are far more peaceful compared to the rioters on January 6th.
I saw nothing wrong with how it was handled
This will end very badly for Israel.
So where was the peaceful protest. None of that was peaceful.
Any violence the news was showing you was the pro-Zionist protesters violently attacking the peaceful pro-Palestine protestors. The cops didn’t do anything for three hours while they allowed the peaceful protesters to be attacked. That was the only violence other than when the cops used violence to arrest peaceful pro-Palestine protestors.
@@darthtechnologies553wow way to frame that in a truly factual way based way lmao. There is no genocide no matter what TikTok tells you. If that was the case the American revolution was a battle of genocides and that is utterly ridiculous. Get a grip on reality.
@@mattdobson7598 It isn't Tik Tok. It's the international courts. There are arrest warrants against Bibi and the Defense minister. George Washington didn't orchestrate a man made famine on the loyalist in the states.
There was no police brutality, I watched the whole thing from start to finish. The police acted with force against those that refused to leave private property and it was the students that were violent against the police. Not one student had an injury, some feigned injury and others exaggerated the force used against them because they refused to leave. As if them disrupting their studies, the studies of all the students in the University, and destroying university property will make the Israeli army change their tactics. This war is bigger then them. They should be sent to Israel to confront those they disagree with and give their solutions to an age old war the greatest minds in history have not been able to solve. 😂
Rubber bullets for a protest? In Washington state. Antifa took a few blocks, declared it their country, burned buildings - and they were left there for months. 😅
You are lying. If the police had caught violence then the news cameras would have caught if, or the police would have release their cam footage. You don't arrest 200 people without visual evidence. Plus are argument is weak. They protest because Israel has been sniping Palestinian protesters at least since 2015. Israel funds Hamas. They meet with them in the tunnels that Israel dug. Israel calls them up and tell them that they have 3 minutes to get of the house before the jets drop bombs. Go to your local library and watch the CDs that have been around since 2015.
Very accurate account of the event. I watched all the coverage live. Any claims of police brutality are WILDLY exaggerated. There's no question.
The KTLA coverage was wildly misleading and dangerous and it will definitely embolden more and more clashes with police. But I guess KTLA makes $$$ from that because they get to be on the scene.

It's not a peaceful protest if it means you are discriminating against a group of people.
I'm sorry did you think criticizing a country wasn't allowed? Or are you just being antisemitic? And how does speech equal violence??
@@jm74784wow you came in super hot and escalated this right out of the gate. Why not ask a few simple questions before making accusations in the guise of a loaded question?
@@jm74784 Leave then. Nobody is asking you be here.
@@jm74784 I never said anything about speech equaling violence or criticizing a country was discrimination. What I said was that there was a group of people who were being discriminated against during this protest. To be specific as to what I was referring to, the Jewish people and people who were not necessarily pro-Palestine were largely prohibited from stepping on their own UCLA campus by the pro-Palestine occupation, often by people who didn't even attend the school. Surely, you can criticize a country and use freedom of speech without infringing on individuals' rights, but what I am not fine with is punishing the Jewish individuals who had nothing to do with this Israel-Palestine conflict, or punishing individuals for not being pro-Palestine for one reason or another. If the roles were reversed and the pro-Israel people were the ones causing this chaos, I would be strongly against that too for the same reasons. A peaceful protest is when you can exercise your first amendment rights without infringing on other peoples' inalienable rights, all without disturbing the peace, and that's what was missing in this UCLA occupation.
And for your information, not that it matters, I am neutral in this Israel-Palestine conflict. It's impossible for me to pick a side due to the complexity of this situation that stems back decades, and I just don't feel right having an opinion on something so complex. I can see why supporters of both sides feel so strongly about their positions, and I can agree with both of them on certain points. I hope you understand.
It seems like the UCLA college doesn't really care about the students
"Criticized over response to Campus protests"
Damn right! They didnt arrest nearly enough of them, and allowed them to stay far too long.
You mean they didn’t arrest enough of the pro-Zionist agitators that violently attacked a peaceful protest by pro-Palestinian students?
The cops sat back and watched these students get violently attacked for 3 hours and did nothing.
You realize that they're protesting against a genocidal war that takes money directly from their college tuition and American taxes
It's called "freedom of speech". They were sitting on the grass or walking passed. Only a couple of fools were acting out. Perhaps alt-right Nationalist disguised as protesters.

And the tone to psychologically pick at the viewers conscience in order to dominate their audience’s emotions.
