In this video, I want to cover the four biggest benefits of pistachios.
Pistachios are actually the seed of a fruit. But, weâre going to refer to them as nuts because thatâs what people are used to.
The 4 biggest health benefits of pistachios:
1. Pistachios have the lowest oxalates of all the nuts
2. Pistachios are very high in potassium, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin k1, vitamin B6, vitamin B1, folate, vitamin E, vitamin C, chlorophyll, and magnesium
3. Pistachios are a good source of amino acids and healthy fats
4. Pistachios have antioxidants

Only problem it's, once time your open a bag you can't stop eating them.
Just take some in ur hand and go outside while eating them ...dont bring the packet with u

Great đ idea
One huge problem with pistachios is that once I start eating them I don't stop. A bag of unshelled? Forget it-that bag is gone.
Me too, but nothing wrong with that.
You just have to get in enough Omega3 to counter the additional Omega 6 from the Pistachios, then you can eat as much as your Carbs allow you to
Lol me to
Big a huge bag. then go home and seperate them into smaller bags (reusable ones of course) and then only eat that one bag at one time. This tells your brain...hey, I just ate a bag of pistaccios and I'm satified.
That's why you buy shelled it slows down the eating.
@@thegoldenhero Not with me. I unknowingly and easily ate 1/2 bag the other night.
I respect Dr. Berg. I was a glutton & overweight with a 39" waist. After watching Dr. Berg, I am doing 20/4 IF for the last 12 months. I take 2 meals in my 4 hour feeding window. My diet is nuts, wholegrains, fruits, veggies & yogurt. Lost 14 kg & shrunk to 33" waistline in 12 months. Am happy , full of energy. All my stress is gone, I AM LIVING MY BEST LIFE. Hammer Slammer : According to the nutrition label on the back of my 8 oz. package. There are four (2 ounce) servings in the bag.
Two ounces of pistachios contain the following:
Calcium 30 mg.

Potassium 280 mg.
Thiamin .2mg.
Vitamin B6 .3 mg.
Phosphorus 130 mg.
Magnesium 30 mg.
Copper .4 mg
Manganese .3 mg
It sure beats most other addictions. Healthy AND tasty? Why not?
I noticed most of the comments are from people that can't stop once they start. One trick I've learned that works really well for me, ( on nuts, not candy) as soon as I get a bag of nuts of any kind I put them in snack bags so when I want some I grab a bag and go to another room.
Hahaha.. I like your thinking..go to another room! I try that and end up back in the kitchen, for just one more handful đ Good tip non the less, bless ur heart đ
I love Pistachios! They have an incredibly hard shell, in fact if you have a problem with a slightly opened pistachio, just use the edge of another shell to pry it open, it works a treat :)

I was literally contemplating buying pistachios this morning while shopping. I actually ended up with almonds, hazelnut, brazil seed, cashews and walnuts. Next time I'll get some pistachios I really like them with a little salt on anyway. Thanks for the video, now got a good excuse to eat some pistachios! Love your video's, always informative.
Peanuts are the least healthy, and walnuts are the most healthy

The only bad thing about nuts is once i eat it its so hard to stop :')
Thank you so much I was really eating these because of your recommendations a while back but here recently I found myself eating these a lot naturally as if I'm loving what's in them.

Above all such a polite way of explaining..thanks
Pistachios are like a combination of a wonderful cake and the best steak I've ever had
Once in a while I buy a bad brand/batch and they taste more bitter than the better brands/batches and are usually a little smaller and have more of that papery inside skin.
Glory to the Creator for having created pistachios! This video is quite delightful to me for pistachios are quite delightful to me.
Thanks for the elaboration on the nutritional content of pistachios, Dr. Berg. I had heard before that it has the lowest oxalates of all the nuts & much less than my other favorite, namely cashews, although I've laid off cashews now (unless I've soaked the cashews in water for a few days & then roasted them a bit in the oven) since hearing cashews are nearly as high in oxalates as almonds are. But to hear of all the other nutritional content was grand. đ
Intending to buy a couple or so more packages of pistachios later today. đ

Wow, I never knew they were low in oxalates! This is super important for me as I am very sensitive to oxalates and encouraging because I love pistachios and am always happy to find things that add diversity to my diet!
High in Aflotoxins.
Someone commented on the melatonin content of pistachios.
Here's what is says online:
Pistachios are not just the most melatonin-rich nut, they are simply off-the-charts as the most melatonin-rich food ever recorded. To get a physiological dose of melatonin, all you have to eat is two. ... So, taking a whole handful of pistachio nuts is like taking one of those high-dose melatonin supplements.
Natural melatonin? Wow..and someone from Dr. B's live show chat room stated not to eat them, because the carbs are too high.
@@ritalafleur3079 A small amount is ok plus if they help you to sleep that would be great!

GREAT comment - thanks for taking the time to post it! That's amazing stuff!!!đđđđđ
@DEVARMONT7 peer reviewed climate change is proof that peer review doesn't always mean it's the truth. Almost anybody in a science field can be bought off. Why would anyone falsify information on melatonin levels in pistachios? Do you think it would increase sales? Even if they don't have the highest melatonin content, people will buy them because they are so tasty.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love them! I have been sticking to walnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, sunflower seeds and hemp hearts. How did I miss them on my list?
Excellent as always. Your way is very easy & likable. Thanks đ for hard work.
This is good news. I was thinking "oh dear, too many carbs in pistachios." Since I can't chew well I put them in a dish in the morning and cover with some filtered water. In the afternoon I remove the water and eat with a spoon. Incredible snack.
Hello Dr. Berg, I am watching your videos from last two months. I was really benefited from your product wheatgrass juice Powder. Dr Berg thanks for all these videos; I have the following nuts/seeds and want to know how much of each should we take per day? I have: Sunflower seeds - Pine Nuts - Chai seeds - Hulled Sesame seeds - Brazil nuts - Pistachio kernels. Is it a good idea to take a little of each and have with breakfast? Or is a different part of the day better? Can I take all of them together? I know taking ONE brazil nut every other day is recommended and eat after soaking and drying for 8 hours to release phytic acid; I cut each one in three to help release the acid faster. Is this a good thing to do? In short how much or how little should I take for each of nut/seed in each day? Thanks.
Dear Mr Berg: I have 2 questions on pistacios: 1. should we eat them roasted or raw ? 2. Could I Use them for low carb baking recipes instead of other nuts like almonds or half and half with almonds?
I stopped eating these guys a while ago, not too sure why. But i'm definitely getting some from the store now :)

Hi Dr Berg; Thanks for all you do,Its great.I wish more people who are in your position would mention about Acrylamides in roasted nuts and phytic acid & lectins,Also for men a new study between the risk of prostate problems and folic acid. Most of the data on pistachios is that they have a moderate amount of oxalic acid in regards to the body having a hard time dealing with oxylates and most people do not know how to precipitate them out of the body.

Does anyone remember when pistachios were dyed red?
yes
That was because some time ago pistachios were imported. During that process the shells would get roughed up and bruised. To cover that up and not make them seem as low quality, they would dye them red. As of lately, the us has been producing their own pistachios, hence the absence of dyes.
I never ever understood it. And who was the total moran who thought that one up

love them! Awesome! excited! Thanks!
My favourite nuts are cashews and pistachios... glad I can still eat one of them!
Pistachios have 15 grams of carbs per 100 grams of nuts. Cashews have 22 grams of carbs per 100 grams of nuts. I would consider neither to be "low carb". As all poisons though, everything depends on the dosage. There is nothing wrong with eating a mere handful as long as you are tracking your daily carbs. But who can eat just a handful?

Things that were omitted but to be aware of:
Quantity:
About a handful (1.5 ounces) is a good amount to shoot for each day. If youâre concerned about limiting your pistachio intake as the buttery flavor can be addicting, go for the kind that have shells on them instead of the pre-shelled ones. Since pistachios contain fructans, eating too many of them can cause bloating, nausea, or abdominal pain. So itâs always a good idea NOT to overdo it.
That happened to me recently. I had pain and bloating on my left side after eating pistachios. Couldnt seem to get rid of it. I did some situps and it went away very fast afterwards.
Have read in the past that too many can also increase blood pressure. Usually I eat between 10 to 12 a day after knowing that.
