    In this video, I want to cover the four biggest benefits of pistachios.
    Pistachios are actually the seed of a fruit. But, we’re going to refer to them as nuts because that’s what people are used to.
    The 4 biggest health benefits of pistachios:
    1. Pistachios have the lowest oxalates of all the nuts
    2. Pistachios are very high in potassium, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin k1, vitamin B6, vitamin B1, folate, vitamin E, vitamin C, chlorophyll, and magnesium
    3. Pistachios are a good source of amino acids and healthy fats
    4. Pistachios have antioxidants

    Glory to the Creator for having created pistachios! This video is quite delightful to me for pistachios are quite delightful to me.
    Thanks for the elaboration on the nutritional content of pistachios, Dr. Berg. I had heard before that it has the lowest oxalates of all the nuts & much less than my other favorite, namely cashews, although I've laid off cashews now (unless I've soaked the cashews in water for a few days & then roasted them a bit in the oven) since hearing cashews are nearly as high in oxalates as almonds are. But to hear of all the other nutritional content was grand. 👍

    Here's what is says online:
    Pistachios are not just the most melatonin-rich nut, they are simply off-the-charts as the most melatonin-rich food ever recorded. To get a physiological dose of melatonin, all you have to eat is two. ... So, taking a whole handful of pistachio nuts is like taking one of those high-dose melatonin supplements.

Why would anyone falsify information on melatonin levels in pistachios? Do you think it would increase sales? Even if they don't have the highest melatonin content, people will buy them because they are so tasty.

Or is a different part of the day better? Can I take all of them together? I know taking ONE brazil nut every other day is recommended and eat after soaking and drying for 8 hours to release phytic acid; I cut each one in three to help release the acid faster. Hi Dr Berg; Thanks for all you do,Its great.I wish more people who are in your position would mention about Acrylamides in roasted nuts and phytic acid & lectins,Also for men a new study between the risk of prostate problems and folic acid.Most of the data on pistachios is that they have a moderate amount of oxalic acid in regards to the body having a hard time dealing with oxylates and most people do not know how to precipitate them out of the body.

      @MarionetteKazuko Pƙed 4 lety +31

      That was because some time ago pistachios were imported. During that process the shells would get roughed up and bruised. To cover that up and not make them seem as low quality, they would dye them red. As of lately, the us has been producing their own pistachios, hence the absence of dyes.

      Pistachios have 15 grams of carbs per 100 grams of nuts. Cashews have 22 grams of carbs per 100 grams of nuts. I would consider neither to be "low carb". Things that were omitted but to be aware of:
    Quantity:
    About a handful (1.5 ounces) is a good amount to shoot for each day. If you’re concerned about limiting your pistachio intake as the buttery flavor can be addicting, go for the kind that have shells on them instead of the pre-shelled ones. Since pistachios contain fructans, eating too many of them can cause bloating, nausea, or abdominal pain. So it’s always a good idea NOT to overdo it.
