The thing about Rapunzel is that the Brothers Grimm explicitly mention several times that she ties her hair to the a hook in the wall before letting it down, so she does in fact not have to carry the princes' weight. But adaptations tend to leave that detail out.
Probably for the best a lot of details from the orignal stories get left out to be honest.
The world record for a woman lifting a weight using her hair is 125kg. The hair itself can support about 10 tons.

Actually in Disney's adaptation she also put her hair through the hook and uses the hands to pull the hair and her mother up (so there's still no tension on her head).

Regarding the "men's secrets" post:
I worked part time in a Chinese takeaway restaurant a few years ago, and one of our regulars was coming in less and less. He suffered from severe depression, so his trips out were mainly to us, or the local supermarket.
He appeared in the shop, one night, and I smiled, said hello, and asked if he wanted the usual (he would keep leftovers for the next day). He said he only wanted the usual starter and sauce (lung fung roll, and curry sauce). The shop and phones were quiet, so I started talking to him, asking how he was, and how smart his new jacket looked on him. Joked with him about just banging on his floor to get his order sent up if he couldn't face coming downstairs(he lived above the takeaway，and I know we wouldn't be able to do that, but it was a running gag).
Once his order was ready, I told him to take care, enjoy his food, and I'll be waiting for the ceiling knock.
Another couple of months passed, and he didn't come in. I was starting to worry, because neighbours hadn't seen him either.
It was mid-July when he returned, and he looked fantastic. I asked if he'd been away on a holiday, and he told me that the last time we'd spoke, he was going to eat his last meal, then ☠️ himself. But, he changed his mind because I was the only person he'd spoken to in ages that hadn't berated or looked down on him, and always had a genuine smile. He had eaten his food, then called the crisis team who booked him into emergency psych evaluation. He then had a three month in-patient stay for treatment. All because I treated him like a human.
I'm not sociable by nature, and even when it was busy, was always nice to my customers because I'd never have known if I'd been the only person they'd spoken to that day/week/month/year.

Thank you both for your very kind words. I'm far from a "model" human, but given that depression and CPTSD has nearly won the battle several times (very nearly succeeded at 14/15 with my school tie😢), I've fought back as much as I can. My two cats are my anchors, and I also believe that if just one kind word, a smile, or a hug can help someone, so be it.
I try my damnedest to hide my bad days, but it doesn't always happen. Those days, you can see a complete change of "tone" per se, in my posts on social media. I get very nippy, so I've found it best to try and stay away from it all at those points.
I hope you are both doing well. Depression is a bastard, but there will come a day that we'll wake up and feel like the world is no longer crushing us. XhugsX XhugsX XhugsX

As someone who's brother killed himself not long ago and me being the last person to have spoken to him, I really agree with you. Since this happened I have come to realise how important solidarity can be and completely agree with you. You might rather see yourself as someone who isn't very strong and perhaps even broken, but I think it's very impressive how far you've gotten and admire your strength to resist the urge. Not just that, you also grew wiser through this, although instead of keeping your knowledge and your experiences to yourself you give strangers your advices and gradually help other humans and by that humanity as a whole.
I believe you helping others being more friendly could actually save lives.
With this in mind I want to thank you for being you! ❤️
I've made a habit of trying to find the silver lining in ANY and every situation. It's not always easy to find but if you can it definitely affects your attitude for the whole day.
It’s amazing how more obvious sexualization of women in video games becomes when you switch the character models.
Well, it does fit Catwoman in particular, but it's done way to much in situations where it doesn't really make sense. I do enjoy the occassions when the Chainmail Bikini has the Male Only tag, though.

A kid may say they're 18 and they're an adult but the parent dealt with the first 17 years.
As a man in my mid-thirties it took my mom the same amount of time with me being an adult to finally see me that way.

That story about a teenager wearing braces during the apocalypse does exist. A french comic called "Sourire d'Acier" (Steel Smile) uses that very concept in a world where everyone has an obsession related to their thoughts at the start of the apocalypse, this girl was supposed to get her braces off that very weekend and now travels the land looking for a way to get them off

Yeah. Bats are pretty cool. Though my favourite fact about them is - when scientists decided to study how bats manouver in their caves to avoid collisions with walls and each other, they eventually found out that they don't. Bats bump into walls and each other all the time.
My favorite bat fact is that when some vampire bats are too young or old or sick to go out hunting for blood, some of the other bats who go out gorge themselves on so much blood then come back to the cave and puke it up to feed the ones who didn't leave.

The autism simulator video is actually really interesting, since its specifically looking at the parts of autism that have to do with sensory issues. Theres a point in the video where they use a mixing board with volume sliders for different environmental sounds as a physical way to show the difference between how autistic and allistic people's brains filter out background noise.

but something in my brain tries to complete the story and it just gets wholesome....
I will just give them names now Woman = Emma , Monster = Shelob
Emma, still trying to just calm the terrifying "monster", continues pretending to be the "mommy"
Shelob tells her something like "I love you mommy" and how "it's so great to be finally loved"
This continues for a bit, Emma is no longer terrified of Shelob and just adopts her as her own, helping her new daughter grow up, go to school and all that.
Obviously society would not be so accepting, so we now have a mother fighting for her little girl.

Unfortunately it's not very common in grocery stores. I have always had to use normal bread slices and just layer them like bricks so the cake stays structurally sound.

I actually got lost down a rabbit hole on finding out how Mickey Mouse got his name, just last week actually. So I was looking for who voiced a particular character, and that led down just seeing who else he did. Turns out he’s the childhood voice that I mentally connect with SANTA CLAUSE! Mickey Rooney! Sometimes you just don't read whose name is on the top. I once opened my neighbours bills, which were put in my mailbox accidentally. I have the same internet-phone provider and electricity company, so didn't notice until after opening and wondering why the amounts on the bills are different than before.

A handful of years ago an older colleague I hadn't seen in a while (freelance work) and I talked between work calls and I remembered something random about her husband and asked her about it. She did a double take and asked me how on earth I remembered that. To me, it's just normal to remember if someone tells you something about themselves. She smiled a sunshine smile and said "you know OP, you're such a nice person!" That really stuck with me. Whenever I feel like I'm not a good enough friend or person, I remember that interaction and it brings me so much joy that someone saw me like that and not like the hardly bearable too much talker I think people take me as.

Simple kindness and recognition of others makes the world of difference to everyones lives I think.
in highschool, a single compliment made me feel more loved then I had ever felt before... It stopped me from killing myself and I have dedicated my life to always being there for the person that said it... she has her own life, but can always come to me with anything. i owe her my life...

For me it was my friend coming over after I had completely ghosted everyone in my life for almost two months. I was actively self harming in the bathroom when I heard my friend calling out for me. He had used my spare keys to get in and literally yelled out "Hey! Aleksi are you alive?". I completely broke down and just cried for two hours in his arms. I couldn't talk. It was 10 days from "the day", which would've been on my birthday. Seeing that people cared enough to come over to check up on me made me realize how fucked up my situation was. I felt so guilty. I spent my birthday with my family. The only gift I asked for was that we would all go eat together at the small Chinese restaurant we used to go to a lot when I was a kid.
Honestly that isn't the only time I tried to or planned to take my own life and it scares me that I can't confidently say that it's my last. But I don't feel so utterly broken and hopeless anymore. Yes there are days when I'm still feeling like that but there are also okay days, even good days. I haven't completely climbed out of the deep waters yet but I have hope again. I have the word "yet".
The point is that there's always a chance to get better but you'll never live to see it if you aren't alive. Keep living to see that day. I'm proud of you. I'm here if you want to talk. Take care of yourself ♡

Having braces during an apocalypse sounds more horrible than if you had braces your whole life. After I had my kid's braces removed, I was told I'd have permanent braces, which as a teen, I thought meant they'll never come off again. These are put behind your front teeth and for so many years, it was excruciating cuz the metal sometimes cut into my tongue OR you tend to feel pain from the pulls over time. Then one day as an adult, a few years before covid too my dentist said I could have them removed. If I still had those during covid, boy, I'd probably go looking for pilers :x
Everyone deserves to have a place to be open about their feelings, and also not everywhere is that place. I’m definitely guilty of oversharing sometimes, but this just reminds me of the time I was sitting in my therapists waiting room. A guy came in strung out on meth and quickly and emotionally told me his entire life story. I didn’t even say one word. A few minutes later my therapist came out with her previous client to walk them to the door. When she entered the waiting room this guy was balling next to me now on his knees as I sat awkwardly in a plastic chair unsure of how to react. The whole thing was so sudden and unexpected

I know of a case where one half of a pair of conjoined twins where one stopped developing and was just a head, neck, and a highly underdeveloped torso without functioning organs. The fully developed twin’s heart couldn’t handle working for two, and ultimately they had to remove (and thus kill) the underdeveloped twin to save the developed one

A couple days ago I finished the first draft of my book! I'm not going to publish anything for a while since I'm still young but I've never made it this far before. Now on to the 2nd draft I guess!!! :)
