- I make salt broiled saury today.
This is an indispensable food for autumn in Japan.
Ingredients (Makes about 2 servings)
2 pacific saurys
a little salt
appropriate amount of grated radish

Looks delicious! I've discovered that the Japanese meaning for the Saury fish is "Autumn knife/sword fish". I also love how simple it is to cook - salt. That's it. Perfect for someone learning to cook seafood! Those of us living on the Atlantic Ocean side don't get to have much fresh Saury. Curious if the frozen is any good? Thanks for posting!

Salt-grilled fish is simple and very delicious.
Frozen saury is also sold in Japan.The taste may be a little weaker than raw saury.
If you are using frozen saury, place it in a nylon bag and thaw it under running water. Once the surface of the saury has thawed and become soft, sprinkle with salt and grill.
If you thaw the saury completely, it will lose its freshness.
