I am sure some diehard fan is going to explode due to my mistake of saying "he" one time in the video. Don't.
Summary for the game its good.
Karak is there Mouse support? Might buy this again for PC if I can paint with my mouse.
To be fair I don't blame you, even though Amaterasu is a goddess she certainly isn't feminised in the game.
my thanks
oh dear. You aren't going to be happy long here lol. If that makes you cringe you won't make it through a single review lol:)
Elena Coutinho-Taylor 30 seconds in Google Image Search with safesearch off is all the research anyone needs.
I hope it sells well this time around. Hideki Kamiya has repeatedly expressed interest in making a full-blown sequel, so if this makes enough money, maybe Capcom will let him.
okami den is the sequel, but I hope it gets another fucking game
I would buy that day one if they had the same creative team working it. It does kind of set up a sequel that would be very different (given the ending which I won’t spoil here).
Pls pls let that happen, lets pray together >.
NeonFirefly
I shall pray for his wish to become true.
*cue Reset Thank You*
This game is such a beautiful master piece but sorry man it will just never sell . I hope capcom just releases a sequel and markets it enough for some good profit , but as far as okami hd goes , unfortunately it won't sell...sooo underrated
This is like the 3rd generation this game has been released and I have still yet to play it. This game is going on my New Year's resolutions list. I owe it to myself to play it.
Same, i would love this on switch tho!
VZA Pls, for the love of Amaterasu, play this game. Over a decade later the game is still a masterpiece !
VZA good idea getting a game list into a new year resolution. Guess I am gonna do myself too. Never finished this game before and now I wanna play it again
You owe it to the game to play it!
play this game! It's such an underrated classic and it's a travesty that more people haven't played this game
One of my favourite PS2 games ever. Best thing about it is that you get to play as a Wolf/Dog . Might buy it a third time . Classic
agreed
I couldn't agree more. Cell shaded games seem to age much more gracefully than your average game.
This will be the third time I purchase the game and I don't regret it in the slightest.
Pscdub72 I never played it should I get it
Another excellent review !
Last time I played this was on PS2 on launch day so I will rediscover the game :)
Reay old game? It's from 2007, that was only 5 years ag-OH MY GOD
Kiuraz 10...
2006 actually, same year that Zelda Twilight Princess came out
Crazy isn't it?
2006. The year where PS3 and the Wii came out and Windows Vista for PC.
Time seems to sped up faster as you grow older my friend
Cheers , great review as always , have a great Xmas mate , I love the podcasts , use them on my long drives in Australia , happy to be someone who donates to your work , thanks again
Okami was the first game I played through as a kid and I could not and would not drop it. I was 11 years old when it came out for PS2 and to see the beautiful graphics it has today, I couldn't help but buy it for the PS4 AND for the PC on Steam. The story you get from this game never ceases to awe and make me laugh, and I hope it's as enjoyable to the new players that became aware to this game with it's new release and better graphics, as it was for me~
I love this game. I really love this game. To this day, the final boss battle still move me to tears and the ending theme is one of my favorite songs of all time. I really, really love this game. Definitely on the list for this Winter Sale (aka, the only times I still buy video games) along with Touhou 16.
yes. the song for the cutscene for the final boss still makes me teary eyed. My first play through the music timed up absolutely perfectly to the big moment that gave me chills... how many games out there can have that much of an effect and still do that every time it happens?
Reset is one of those songs that whenever it comes up on my playlists, I never skip it and i just go into full blown nostalgia mode. Absolutely incredible song.
Feng Lengshun awesome gonna pick this game up asap.. i never played okami buut i played as okami in marvel vs capcom games lol
just take it , u won't regret
Loved this game for the Wii it's an absolute classic if you haven't played it please give it a go
This game made me warm inside. Which is inkredibly rare.
me to but I run hot
mmmm melons
Nice review. Gonna pick this up for my winter break gaming time !
thanks!
ive been playing this game yearly since it was released. i have it on the ps2, wii, ps3, and im most likely going to buy it for my ps4.
i wish i could experience the first few play throughs all over again. its on of the most beautiful games and i love how the controls work. if you have trouble drawing, try it on the wii. the wii controls still feel very natural and the drawing mechanism is a lot easier to handle.
I wish Okami/Okamiden has a sequel (hell, maybe a pre-sequel). This is one of my favorites next to Zelda.
You know, if you hold down the X button while using the Celestial Brush, you can paint faster. This comes in very handy in the timed sections.
Thank you for reviewing the remastered version of one of my favorite games of my childhood
sure
Thanks for great review, ACG. Okami is still to this day my favourite game and I can't wait to play through it again. I was also curious to know if you were planning on reviewing that Jak Collection that came out recently at all?
Just finished my last final exam and I can't wait to relax and play this tomorrow, thanks for the awesome review!
I still have this for my ps2. If someone turned up their nose to this game solely because its 30 fps they need to sell all their game consoles and pc. Game is fantastic. Buy it so that maybe we can get the sequel ive been waiting for since 2007 :(
You never play Okamiden? I think that game only came out on the Nintendo DS but that is a sequel.
ShadowMagnum its already got a sequel Ōkami den for the Nintendo DS
Even tho i liked OkamiDen, i will neves consider it canon, as it wasnt made by Clover Studios.
Pablo González Hermosilla Same here. Just like I won't consider Sly 4 canon as it wasn't made by Sucker Punch.
@@marcusporter7565
Well it's not called Sly 4.
Thanks Karak for another great review as always. I really appreciate it!
By the way, for the timed brush stroke sections, you can hold down x to move the brush a lot faster across the canvas, and you can hold down x and square at the same time to paint faster.
amazing game, played it a ton on PS2. Buying this one for sure
It’s been a while since I’ve played the PS2 original, but I seem to remember there’s a way to speed up the brush while drawing.
I want to say it’s holding Circle, but I can’t remember. Not sure if it’s in a tutorial or if it was removed for some reason (can’t imagine why) for the remakes, either.
Really, though, the brush speed up makes it much easier to play. I guess I should look it up again…
I'm SO glad this game was remastered and I'll finally be able to play it on a system I actually own! As always, thanks for the review! :)
By far one of the greatest games I've played.
Would love a 2nd one.
okami den for the ds came out a few years after
tubabluba789 Too bad it was garbage
This was one of my favorite PS2 games, I'm so happy it got ported. I couldn't give a rats ass if it's locked at 30fps, I just want to play it again.
I love Ammy's game.
Beauty incarnate, what games used to be.
How is the control using the brush with keyboard/mouse and with the controller? I played this on the Wii and it was awesome, but I can see that being a problem with "normal" methods of playing
Can you use the touchpad for drawing with the celestial brush on PS4?
great review. Loved that game on PS2 back then
I absolutely loved this game on my old console. I'm a suckered for cell shading - couple that with a great story and unique, well-executed play mechanics, and you've got yourself a must-play game.
Awesome really like these reviews
Thanks for the review! This is one of the few PS3 games that were highly regarded that I never got a chance to play. I guess this is when remasters work the best. Looking forward to diving into Okami!
How are the Keyboard+Mouse controls for PC? I played it for Wii originally.
My only question is about Move support on PS4
PS3 had it. Can you use the Move controller on PS4. If not, I’ll stick with the old copy. The paint brush mechanic works so well with the Move. Much better than the analog sticks.
Acg you're the God of the reviewers! The only one I really trust! Thank you so much for your work. Are you considering also the possibility of reviewing films? Happy Christmas from Italy :)
Awesome review! Didn’t expect anything less. Love this game and am happy with the remaster. Cheers.
Was replaying this on PS2 again last year. Its got a few slow spots but overall its fantastic definitely up there with the classics also love how it pulls so heavily from Japanese mythology and blends all these tales and themes together in its world in such an organic fashion.
wow , this was fast. Thank you Karak!
I own this on the PS3, but never got around to playing it, so I ordered this for the ps4 this time around and am getting ready to enjoy this
loved this game, I already pre ordered it yesterday, cant wait for tomorrow to enjoy it again! thanks for the review karak!
Hello this game have spanish subtitles or change the idiom system game?
Does it use the Dualshock 4's motion or touchpad controls at all?
Don't think so. No PlayStation Move support this time also.
Am I the only one here not bothered in the slightest by 30fps? It's not a multiplayer competition requiring the fastest reactions possible. 60fps is nice, but completely unnecessary to making a fantastic game. Seriously, just play this, it's one of the best games you'll ever play.
Nah, you're not. While 60fps is nice to have and definitely preferred, 30fps isn't a deal-breaker, especially for a single-player story-driven game. I just beat the game for the first time, and I wonder why I did not play it sooner! Especially considering I was already a fan of the Zelda franchise
It's not a deal breaker. It's just a disappointment.
This review is 100% spot on, and an excellent example of why you're my preferred reviewer. I just got the platinum on the PS3 version of Okami about a month ago, and I think it does run a bit long. Overall: wonderful game. I can see myself picking it up on PS4 in the future.
Lawrence Newman This version is linked to the PS3 trophy list. So there are no trophies to unlock if you already unlocked the platinum on PS3.
Does the PS4 version have move controller support?
Hey man, you didnt mention, is this worth buying if i already have it on PS3? Or are they both pretty identical?
Hello ACG can you please review Jak and daxter collection review for the ps4. Please the game released bit I can't find a good review
Omg this was one of my favorite games on ps2.
So glad they re released it
I really wanted to play this game when it came out, but I didn't own a console. Time to try it on the PC, looking forward to it!
Can you press x to make text appear instantly like the wii version or do you have to wait for the slow text speed to fill like ps2 version?
many cutscenes no, some yes
PS2 version also allowed you to make the text appear faster with square and/or X
Tremendouz not for most cutscenes. Atleast in early game
This and twilight princess was my favorite on the Wii. Will buy again just to play again in higher resolution.
I remember playing this back in 2006 on the PS2, might get it on PS4 or Xbox One once I'm done with finals.
One thing I have to say is if you can get your hands on the wii version and pl;ay it on the wii.... you will find that this game fits so well for a Wii. This game in hands down one of the best games to have been made. the story, music and art are so intertwined that i have called this game a artwork all of its own. its replayable in a way that no other game is and really just has a charm that no other game out there has. good review and i hope this encourages people to buy the game and experiance just how amazing this game truely is.
My boyfriend bought me Okami HD, I never heard about the game before but this is definitely one of the best games I've ever played! 🐺👌🏽🙏
You won't regret playing! Take your time and explore. If you have any questions, you can ask me (as long as they arent about the gameplay... I'll be playing my copy later to replenish my memory)!
So what exactly does the "HD" mean? I assume the textures are better and like karak said it will support high resolution displays but is that the extent of it? Did they change anything in the actual game? Can you rebind controls on PC? How do the controls translate to KB+M, is it feasible to play that way?
I finished this game on PS2, and I plan do again in my Xbox One...Okami is a classic!
By the way, good review, Karak! It's always a pleasure see a honest and detailed opinion about any game, and helps a lot when the person really knows what you talking about.
Does anyone know how the drawing technique works in PC,PS4 & XONE?
No mouse support for the ink mode?
Perhaps this is a sign they're going to bring Ammy back to MvC:I?
Ohh I only played a bit on the PS2, gonna definitely pick this up on Steam
I had some real struggles figuring out where to go the first time around but I'm so glad I stick with it. No other game gave me quite the same feelings.
This game is giving me life; it’s hauntingly beautiful, the characters are great, the score is impeccable and next to that the story line is truly amazing! After finishing this game, I played it again and really took my time to fulfill the nice side quests and explored the breathtaking world. I just strolled for an hour in Sasa Sparrow In and stayed at the onsen (hot water spring spa) with a smile on my face, due to the cute and funny sparrow employees over there. That’s how great Okami is
Does the game have the option of muting the gibberish like vocals? I'm not a fan of that
Shaunak Deshpande you can ease yourself with fast forwarding the text, if there's no option available. This is on the ps3 version, atleast:
square -> fast forward without skipping the dialogue.
triangle -> fast forward and continues to the next dialogue.
you don't need to mash that confirm button.
Just bought it it's downloading... I'll start tonight I'm looking forward to it as it's new to me!
Is it only the 'interactive' cutscenes that are unskippable? I only ask because every one I've tried so far has let me skip if I want to.
nope
general dialogue is skippable, but full cut scenes with story and stuff aren't
Got the Platinum on PS3 like two weeks before this was announced. Still buying because it's at such a great price, and it's an amazing game that I can get another Platinum on.
ACG, great review man, as aways! I have a doubt: i got the PC version and it doesn't have controller support, I can't seem to use even the Xbox controller, just wondering if you reviewed the PC version you had the same issue. Thanks a lot!
Will you make a Spellforce 3 review?
Your reviews are always enjoyable regardless if I buy the game or not. I'm going to try this on the PC because it looks so different than what I usually buy and play. It's cheap so I'll give it a try. As always, thanks.
thanks
Do you recommend this on PS4 or PC since the framerate is locked on either platform.
Either lmao
Definitely an amazing and unique game. Glad it is getting preserved on more platforms. I still own it on my PS3, it probably doesn't carry over to my PS4.
A really good review...and now I will watch some other reviews...Because just 2 hours until it will be released *_* Im super hyped to play this masterpiece again!
Is the paper filter optional? Can it be disabled entirely?
No it is not optional, in fact the games art style is built around it.
I'm amazed how much I liked playing this on the Wii. The inclusion of motion controls into brushstroke powers made it really worthwhile.
Love your reviews, thank you!
thanks
Looks just like it does on ps3. I just beat Orochi, game is much longer than I was expecting.
You're a bit over 1/3 through the game I'd say.
Sure is. If the game had ended at that point my first time I'd have been satisfied, but it just kept going and going.
Tremendouz This, after that is just epic battles after epic battles.
I remember when I beat orochi and I thought it was over too. Thankfully I was completely wrong
Joseph Honora yeah, such a great feeling to realize there is much more of this world out there at that point
I remember reading that the PS3 version of the game actually was running in 4K but was downscaled because the PS3 can't display 4K resolutions.
resistance1207 Okami HD is Xbox One X enhanced also.
Happy Holidays ACG! Half the time I know I’m going to buy these games anyway, but I always enjoy hearing your opinion.
Might have to buy this again for the fourth time. Amazing game.
I'm beyond excited to pick this up for the Switch!
Awesome review. Definitely buying this one.
thanks
Wii version with motion controls or HD version?
So should I play this on ps4 or ps2?
This is a really good game. The new HD versions are gorgeous, though I really prefer the gameplay with the Wii’s nunchuck.
Nice to see it get another port.
I played this on the PS2 back in the day. Then I bought the PS3 version more recently and I haven't played that version yet. When it came out for PC I thought I might buy it again just to play it at 60fps. Oh well...
Does the pc version has anything over the PS3 one besides the potential of playing at even higher resolutions? As far as I'm aware it's 1080p on PS3 also? I might be wrong but I don't think it matters that much considering the art style anyway.
You should review Nine Parchments next!
Heeeey that dog was a mod for Skyrim :P
Just finished replaying, after this review reminded me this remake was a thing. Gorgeous game, and gorgeous channel.
is this gona b on the switch?
I liked the giberish talk back in 2006, and im liking it right now too, it was pretty unique. I understand how it would be just annoying for others tho...
I think it works for this game, ithink was a good decision.
I have OkamiDen on the DS (the sequel to Okami) and it is great and beautifull game. I never got the original Okami so I plan to get this masterpiece.
You should Okamiden is a good game but I prefer this one, have some problem but overall is a great game
Beautiful game with just enough of a challenge to entertain you without it getting frustrating. This game always felt relaxing and peaceful to play. One of my favorite RPGs that I'll definitely pick up and play again
What about controls on keyboard?
thank you for informing me of this games release. didnt know it before and ill buy it now
I watched a bit of this when it wasn't on PC and was super intrigued by it. So glad my boy Karak is on the case, now I know it's worth buying.
How many hours does it take ?
