Please, Lagos state must be issuing flood alert and inform the public to stay at home during heavy downpour.
Only essential services should be on the road!

In Lagos State Nigeria my observation is that drainage doesn't flowing to anywhere. In the 1950s to before the military take over water flows in gutters and are washed every day, we also have sanitary inspectors (in yoruba wolewole). I was born in Lagos State in the 50s uptill date, I know Lagos State like the lines on my palms. Since the first Republic Drainage in Lagos State of Nigeria does not flow to anywhere, that is a fact. I challenge the Lagos State government to prove me wrong. Drainage/gutter is constructed with no direction water flow to. Don't buy what any Lagos State government official sells to you on flooded Lagos, the major buttomline is that 100% of water, rain water does not continually flow through any channels but finally sink to the ground or evaporate.
    YB.

I believe you got that indoctrination from the media. While I quite believe it is true, people have the proclivities to prognosticate the year Lagos will be submerged under water, which causes a strong consternation among people living in Lagos.

Good day Sir, I most commend the state government for the rapid response, but I want to disagree with you that it was due to the 10hrs rain. The government is yet to clear the drainages (Canals) like they usually do before the raining season, so the blockage was high. Immediately you people came on the ground and clear the flow areas, the water could easily flow away.
Please, there's still time to clear the major canals linking to the lagoon to allow for the free flow of water like you did last year before the rains came
