    Sometimes, when you are diagnosing a problem, the cause isn't a failure in the vehicle, but a bad modification or fix! Watch this video to see how Len discovered that a bad splice was the cause while he was diagnosing reverse lights that weren't working!

      Seen that wiring job before, usually for a reverse camera-Why they don't use reverse bulb wire, IDK...;

    They tapped into the reverse lights switch because they had a backup camera at some point hooked up to a double din radio or a single din slide out screen with backup camera plate frame

    Maybe it wasnt the point of the video, but I would have liked to have seen more troubleshooting and actual repair. What were those wires going to? How do you test the switch to see if it is working? How do you remove it and install a new one? A lot more could have been done with this video. But I guess it's not really a mechanic channel, just a parts seller channel maybe.

    Thanks for the video I'm having this problem on my 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. My reverse lights don't turn on and my blinkers are bugging out when I push on my brake pedal. The brakes are also dim when I push on them but the red gets brighter when I let off the brake. I'll update when I find my solution.

    In this video you mention that because it’s manual that sensor is on the driver side. I have an 08 Silverado 1500 4.8L 4WD Ext cab and only my reverse lights don’t work everything else does. Think you could make some tutorial for that? I’ve used your videos to replace my breaks already! Love your channel!

    So I have a 2000 Ford F-150 it has power at the switch but when I put it in reverse it doesn’t illuminate the bulbs. However if I put a jumper wire to the plug on the harness both lights come on. When I feel around to see what engages the ball bearing on the back of the switch I find that the hole goes about a inch in and there’s nothing there. What pushes the switch when you go into reverse? Thanks

    Just got my car back yd from Nissan after my slave cylinder, clutch, fly wheel and whatnot had to be replaced. And it just so happened that on that day my car was due for inspection and that's when I found out that not only didn't my reverse lights work anymore bur my rear view camera didn't work anymore as well. Took the car back to Nissan yd but was told to bring it back in monday so that they can figure out what went wrong at no cost to me so they say. So my question is of course Whatt did happened?

    Why would a backup camera not be coming on when a car is in reverse? I have a 2018 Honda Accord and my backup camera does work, I pulled it up through the diagnostic menu, but my car does not register being in reverse electrically. The "R" does not show on the dash, no reverse lights, and it does not trigger my backup camera.

    Yeah back up cameras need a reverse trigger is probably a good reason for the wires. If you have a 7pin trailer plug you can tap off that wire I've been told

    I have a ford focus 2003 mk1 . All of a sudden my reverse light stopped working after checking all my lights I also found the rear fog light does not work either.
    I have checked and changed bulbs . Checked and changed all appropriate fuses.
    Even had it into a garage this morning thinking it could be the reverse light switch on the gearbox they said that it was fine .
    I've taken out the light sockets and gently scraped off any and all corrosion. I've checked the grounds and they are fine .
    Also checked the wiring that all seems to be fine too.
    Anybody have any ideas .
