Worked as a Emergency Management Agency (Civil Defense) volunteer; our director used some idiot whose wiring skills were so poor the local radio/equipment installers all nicknamed such poor work as a "Leo D. Special". Turned on my alley lights on one car; the right switch and the left switch were reversed! Went to do something else, and that didn't work at all. Gave up and signed out another vehicle. The local shops wound up fixing all the bad wiring jobs, and no discounts given.

I own a 2010 Subaru impreza with about 67 preview owners of dubious mechanical background. I had a similar issue with all the brake light bulbs blown. Luckily, it was simply that the previous owner didn't replace them as they burned out, until non were left. When I did a brake job right after buying the car for pennies on the dollar, I discovered 3 different brands of pads, and 2 siezed calipers. A wheel bearing making all kinds of racket, and exhaust leak the size of Texas. Needless to say after a few weekends of fixing it up here and there, welding up the exhaust, she's ran great for 2 years. You need to charge double to straighten out DIYer's wiring messes. I have bought a couple of semi tractors over the years that were adorned with a myriad of add on lights and doodads, and everyone ended up being a wiring nightmare. After the first couple of experiences with that type of installations, when I bought a used truck, I stripped off anything not factory and made sure there were no surprises to be had once the salt hit the roads in the winter time.

I've fixed/maintained quite a bit on it otherwise, but it still ended up as a good purchase overall. Subaru's aren't the most reliable cars, but better than many i've had for sure. I thought okay we have a missing wire some place no big deal. I opened the hood for my diagnostic look, low and behold I found someone was already in there fixing the damage. I found that all the injector wires had been cut back and respliced. They used wire nuts that a home electrician would use.

As conformed by the guru SMA, the improper installation actually put the driver in risk by causing problems with the brake lights and etc....
