    Financial benefits for Barça aside, I am really impressed by the changes they have made to the Super League proposal. I think I'm on board with the idea! I never really linked UEFA's competition monopoly with the struggle of those legendary clubs mentioned in the video, but it does make some sense. In my head, if the prize money for the lower leagues is as good or better than Europa and Conference League, I think it could really benefit smaller teams from Liga Portugal, Eredivisie and honestly Ligue 1 (for example). There are too many examples of teams who over-perform domestically in one season and qualify for europe, but then next season they can't compete in Europe AND struggle domestically. This format may make transitions smoother and more fair.

      Don't forget that it'll also save Spanish football. The current state of economics in La Liga is disastrous and if it continues like that the gap between the EPL and La Liga will increase more and more and if that happens then English football will hold the sport in a chokehold, that simply cannot happen because Spanish football is the best and teams like Valencia, Athletic club, Real Sociedad, Real Betis and many more deserve more recognition than these teams without history from England. I too like the changes they've made, hope teams have the courage to leave UEFA and FIFA and take control over the financial state of each respective club that you and I have mentioned, that are historically rich but are left behind to rot, because of people who don't really care about football and how it's the peoples' game and not another commercialized sport made by greedy Americans.

    The Super League is the natural progression for the game. It gives the power to the clubs to decide how the format will work. I like to watch the best teams play each other multiple times each season. And I like the fact that all the games will be free to watch. I'm curious to see if that will really happen.

The clubs need to start benefiting again from these competitions, the players need to have more flexibility to reduce the probability of injury from playing too much, it sounds like they have the right mindset in this new league and personally I would love to see the end of the champions league because it has not been what it used to be before, I am looking forward to this new league and the potential

    This is a huge victory for Barca if the league gets off the ground in 2025 and they receive 1 billion bucks for being one of the founding clubs. I hear new premier league rules introduced in the wake of the attempt at starting the super league in 2021, that all the clubs had to agree to will make it very difficult for the premier leagues richest 7 to participate in the super league without facing penalties from the premier league. It will be interesting to see how that goes. Because those lucrative broadcast deals have given premier league teams a huge financial advantage in Europe as far as recruitment goes and even in the champions league. Barca and a whole host of teams from continental Europe have struggled financially in recent years and a competition outside of UEFA that gives them a bigger slice of the pie will help to close that gap. All the more so if premier league teams are forced to miss out by their own league.

It's insanity how people are not for it when all what UEFA has done is adding more games, more competitions and even changing the whole UCL format for money. Best thing about the super league is theres no chance of teams gaining an advantage with paying refs thats the part that gets me on board the fact that refs must be approved by both clubs for a game 😊😊

  • @DarthwRath
    @DarthwRath Před 5 měsíci +1

    I'm for it because it's based on merit. That was a huge change in format and I'm sure more fans of the game likes that.
    And broadcasting it for free is another great thing, I will say I'm a bit skeptical about that. Sure, now they say it will be free, but soon enough it won't be. There's no free whatever on this planet.
    Hopefully it will happen because it does have a really fascinating format. And hopefully they won't use VAR, at least not the way we've been seeing. Goal-line and offside checks are the only positives of VAR and should be maintained. The rest is an utterly abysmal consistent incompetence in every damn game. They have to do better than UEFA/FIFA for VAR related rules if they really want to challenge them vampires.

    The super league would help wipe out barça's debts overnight but one arguement that many fans have proposed is that Champions league is has a rich history and heritage and winning it means a lot.
    And to these fans , i would like to say- yea , it does have a good history and heritage and obviously it is an emotion , but the uefa and fifa board have already robbed the emotion from the ucl. In the recent years , i havent felt the magic of the ucl that i used to feel and anyways the ucl format and money making scheme would just benefit the organisation hosting it (fifa and uefa) and instesd of taking part in this shady business , why not be part of the super league?

    One point that most people look to use is that UEFA and FIFA are not only about football clubs, these are organizations comprised primarily of national associations. And these associations depend on the revenue that UEFA/FIFA generates from their competitions. So the obvious question is, will the money generated by the clubs from the Super League be distributed to the national associations as well.
    Second thing is, will the clubs that take part in the Super League be allowed to participate in their domestic competitions as well. Apart from the Premier League and maybe the Bundesliga, I don't see any other leagues overly objecting to this idea.
    If these questions can be addressed in the right way, then I can say that game will change forever for the good.
