You mean the same fans who pay a lot of money for tickets for European club competition matches and immediately run to the shops to buy expensive shirts of the newest transfer, let's say Man U's Pogba for 90 million pounds. Must have been a bargain. Not saying Super League is a good idea, although clubs live in a free world, but I think a lot of football fans aren't aware of the fact they are one the reasons why clubs, including Man U given their value and latest transfers, always want more and more. Because fans make it possible. To call it a criminal act, as Neville did, and others who talk about the nostalgia of football, symbolises the blindness within the entire world of football and resembles UEFA's reaction out of desperation. Emotions only. Not one meaningful argument. Why is mister Neville not complaining about Financial Fairplay? Or that the Premier League automatically gets to deliver four clubs for the Champions League? Or that his club plays dozens of matches abroad? All based on money-driven decision making. But I guess when the money floats their way it's fine to ignore your own people. Football belongs to the people, yeah right! The people who pay. I don't see mister Neville talk about the need for a more competitive and fair CL. No wonder certain clubs wanted to join the SL. UEFA messed up and clubs are taking control. Because we all know the most important clubs, including Man U, are already in control of football.

    • @Londronable
      @Londronable Před 3 lety +8

      @@andythomas706
I'll explain what the European supercup is in a moment but first, I think you're missing the problem people have with it.
The main issue is the idea of no relegation. No punishment for failure.
20 years ago Manchester City was in the second division and now they want to close the door behind them.
Football in Europe has always been one where you and your mates can create a team and work your way up to the champions league.
      Nobody here likes closed systems.
The teams in the champions league. The one that has group stages into knock out rounds, are based on performance last season.
If a good team doesn't end up doing well one season they're not in. That's it.
Now, the European Supercup is a single match between the winner of the Champions league, the most prestigious one. Taking England as an example, the top 4 teams of last season play in this. And the European league. In which for England, the number 5 and 6 of last season play.
The winners of these 2 competitions play a single game at the beginning of the season for the European Super cup. It's seen as an oddity if anything. Many leagues do the same for the winner of the league of last season and the winner of the cup of last season.
Antwerp, a city in Belgium, have this century been in and out of the second division.
      They're also played in Europe.
It's this that makes football special.

Same in Italy, the likes of Atalanta, Leicester are making the Juve nd Liverpool nervous.

But you have to say that football has been purely commercial for years. Bayern wins in the Bundesliga every year; in France PSG and Italy mostly Juve. The new league would make it a lot more interesting. Most of the top clubs are stock corporations ergo focus on making money and making profit. So the current fallacy does not come from nowhere, but is simply the conclusion of the whole. Football isn't what it was for a long time. It would be best if there were the draft system in and among the top 5 leagues in Europe and a cost and salary cap. Like in the NBA, that would make football more interesting not a Super League

He hass 100% hit the nail on the head, if the clubs breakaway they do deserve fans, trophies, or a single penny!! This has the potential of ruining nearly everything for these clubs and to be so blinded that the owners can not see that is ridiculous! Yes, I get for the owners it is just about money, but surely a club that no one goes to watch will be worse for them in the end! These clubs should all be bigger than their owners greed, and if it takes us all pretending like these clubs no longer exist so be it!! So much so, if the PL doesn't start copying some of the Bundesliga rules and views then this euro elite league will happen, resulting in the Bundesliga becoming the best and most watched league in the world.

Not surprised Leipzig said yes to it. At least some clubs have some dignity. Honestly, this was the time for teams like Arsenal and Tottenham who aren’t at the top at the moment to step back and say no, those at the top shouldn’t have this much power and oppose this change, but with owners like Kroenke and chairmen like Levy what can you expect. Shambles. Absolute shambles.

The 50+1 rule is an informal term used to refer to a clause in the regulations of the Deutsche Fußball-Liga (German Football League). The clause states that, in order to obtain a license to compete in the Bundesliga, a club must hold a majority of its own voting rights. The rule is designed to ensure that the club's members retain overall control, by way of owning 50% of shares, +1 share, protecting clubs from the influence of external investors.
