When I started working on old outboards it was mostly omc’s, so been doing it similar to what you are showing. Now I’m into, Chryslers and Mercs and others and there are no timing marks. Set the points to the required gap is all you can do.
I work on many Chryslers myself as they are my favorite outboard! And to be honest I rarely use the timing tool. I just set to the required gap. I mostly used these two tools to show how it can be done that way. To tell you the truth I like setting up to the Gap the best 💯 😊
