You are quickly becoming my favorite yt lego investor, loving the grind and the work commitment to your channel. Hope your Q4 is going well, take care!
TFF! Starting to pick up! Thx for the support!
Thanks Jake , great informative video as always.
Thx James!
Great video Jake. Yes I agree with you. I think the number of buyers able to shell out over $1000 for a set are few and far between so I buy one in case I want to build it, but that’s all. Better opportunities lie in less expensive sets
💪💪💪
The Question I always needed an answer to. Thanks Jake!
Glad I could help!!
Great video! Informative and entertaining. I’m surprised that you didn’t touch on set # 10212, the UCS Imperial Shuttle. It’s one of the most highly sought after sets for serious Lego Star Wars collectors and ranks as the #1 favorite UCS set for many in that category as well. It’s a $250 retail set that sells now for around $1200.
Crazy investment! I didn’t touch on a bunch of sets in an effort to keep the video under an hour ha! But yes the imperial shuttle is incredible
Great video !! I wish you were around in the early 2 thousands Jake !!
Same!
Great video keep up the great work
💪💪
Great video man! I love these sets but I only have a couple because they're so expensive. One day I'll hopefully be able to afford all of them.
Would love to see that collection some day!
Great video!
Thx Sport Sander
Love your videos Jake!
Thx Daniel!!
Great video and very informative. No doubt the success in investing in these large sets is the buy in and what kind of deal you can get! And space to store them of course. And patience. And a supportive spouse 🤣🤣🤣
All very very valid things! 😏
i just got into lego investing. and I just subscribed!!
Welcome!!!
Great video! I have one question do you think that lego will do ucs imperial star destroyer with interier in future?
Possibly but I would imagine they will make several other UCS sets before that. It’ll probably be 4-7 years before we see a remake
Great video
Thx!!
Hi, that was Complete analysis - thank's 😃 What do you think about Mos Eisley Cantina in terms of potential investment?
I think it will be great! But will probably be on the market another 1-2 years so I would wait to buy it
it might be cool if you had like a 3 second intro (maybe just a short sound and like your logo or something) right after you say “let’s go” at the beginning. keep up the great content
I really need one! I just haven’t created one or paid someone to do it! 🤦♂️🤦♂️ great feedback
I mean... the UCS Slave 1 does have a minifigure worth well over $150.
As for Assault(?) on hoth, it does include 11 unique figures still. Quite an insane amount still.
Comparatively the Hoth and Ewok sets have an insaaaaane amount of figs
You hit on all of my concerns about investing in the quite expensive "ultimate ultimate collector series" sets (henceforth "UUCS"!). I've invested pretty heavily in LEGO this year (what I would consider "pretty heavily" at least), but didn't buy any UUCS sets. I may regret that later, but right now I just see too many risks and unknowns.
Thx Review3d for the comment! We will know call it UUCS for now on 💪💪
Assault on Hoth probably gained momentum with the release of the Hoth AT-ST, 40th anniversary AT-AT, and UCS AT-AT.
This makes a ton of sense
Great video as always. Love those original boxes from the early days. No denying they’re a solid investment, but for me personally, it’s just a bit much cash to have tied up in one or two bits of inventory. I’d rather spread my risk across a few themes and get multiples of certain sets.
Super smart!
The New Falcon is not a copy paste at all, but a complete different model ! It's a lot better to add up, so what happened was logical. And todays prices for the rarity of the first model is more accurate in my opinion, because come on, older prices were nuts !
I have two stardesroyers and two Titanic for investment. I'm curious too. 😀
True true! Definitely not an exact replica but an even better model. I think the titanic will be great but I would wait on investing in it might be a long hold
@@JakesBricks Thanks for your answer ! Well you can flip it here at an immediate 50 percent ROI although it's not even retired, for always out of stock. I will keep one of those untill two years after retirement and another one for five to ten years. Like i said, i'm curious. I have a lot of small medium sets to flip or sell before that, like those 40558 clones packs. 🙂
Btw, i watched your giveaway video today.
Great channel! Wish I'd seen this video a few weeks earlier as I just picked up the 75192 Millennium Falcon at approx. USD 800 on Cyber Monday. Based on your comments and LEGO's statement on possible non-retirement, is that something I should be looking into returning (I'm still within the return period and can do it at no cost)?
Ya I would say investing in 75192 is probably not a good choice so if you can return it I would.
@Jake’s Bricks Thanks! As it happens, I just returned it a couple of hours before your reply. 😊
Already got the Millenium Falcon and Titanic, but the Star destroyer for me wasn’t that high in hope since I personally didn’t like it’s application in the lore (fear, not tactical). Hope Lego makes a UCS Venator
Deep analysis I like it! And yes! A UCS Venator would be incredible
You mention selling sets you have built to help find new purchases. I am curious to know how to go about repackaging an assembled/disassembled set, especially UCS sets, prior to listing on eBay or other sites. How do you go about it?
Hey Erik I might do a video on this soon!
What are some good websites (other than e-bay) that could also help determine the price or value of a new or used retired lego set?
Bricklink it the other one I would use… Amazon is inflated typically
I have every Lego Star Wars UCS set except the AT-AT. I don't collect them for investment purposes; I love the larger more complex builds and they make for fantastic displays.
I would loooove to see your collection 😱
@@JakesBricks I have most of them on display, but some are just too big (MF, SSD and SD) , so have been built and then dismantled and stored. I just don't have the space to have everything on display (especially with other SW sets and my own MOCs). Unfortunately I can't post pics to YT. :(
@@i_price it’s alright I will just envision it in my mind 🤯
Yes! But needing to wrap the sets up on plastic, keeping them away from sunlight, in a dry environment, 18+ inches at least off the floor…😥plus any sets with what could become outdated electronics!
Prime storage advice
What about the USC AT-AT? I've heard this set is set to retire at the end of this year. What are your thoughts about this set?
Hmmmm... Not sure about this one yet. I would imagine they might extend it another year
Awesome video! Definitely appreciate the in depth discussion and analysis, I bet it was hefty undertaking. I hope that UCS Star Destroyer works out for you! I'm in the same A-Wing club with you!
QTG! Appreciate! Time will tell on the ISS
Hello and thanks, i made the right decision buying the 75252 last year and i would like someday to get the millenium falcon. I am not an investor, now i want to buy the titanic or the collosseum, any advice?
For investing the Colosseum will retire first. For building I would say the Titanic. But the I would hold off on investing in any of those sets right now
@@JakesBricks Thanks for the reply, why would you hold off?
I have the 75252 still new in box if you want to buy a second one lol
How much you selling for?
I'm so mad I missed out on the Ewok village! Do you think they will never do a rerelease of it?
Hmmm for this one I would say unlikely but we could see a different version as part of the master builder series down the road
make a offer...new unpacked...
Hi, i recently found a deal for the Star Destroyer at 470$, brand new. Is this a good deal to invest in to sell later? I intend to keep it in the original box unopened.
I would for sure pick that up!
@@JakesBricks i just did, the stock vanished instantly
I just got a chance to buy the falcon with 458 USD, should I resell it or just skip it cus I don't have spaces for it.
Quick flip that for $700!
Yes but only the one off sets like the razor crest... the MBS sets definitely have more intrinsic value due to the amount of minifigs and playability
I dunno! There are tons of UCS sets that have been great investments
@Jake’s Bricks I think I only commented this from the standpoint of current day and what to look for when investing going into the future because of the uncertainty with re releases :) edit: as long as its a short term investment you should be safe though... no point holding onto the new gunship for a decade for example due to the increased risk after that time frame
@@yobaafett ^^^ totally agree
Yeah I was checking out that Darth maul head that thing's worth thousands
Insane right!?
I really wanted the Star Destroyer, sadly missed out
Ya it’s pushing 1K nowadays
UCS Sandcrawler is one of my favorite all time sets. Did not buy it unfortunately.
Hopefully you have the chance to get one if they ever rerelease it
I recently went on a spending frenzy because tha at at was selling for 575 euros and the razor chrest for 400 instaid of 600.
Now i see the 75192 millennium falcon on sale for 679 euros instaid of 850.
If i follow the advice you have given the falcon is the one to build and not keep in the box but what about the razor chrest.
To me of those 3 i like the look of the razor chrest the most to be honest.
Razor crest is probably the best bet of the three. Hard to get super expensive LEGO sets to appreciate past 1k
You didn't mention UCS sets like the TIE Advanced or Imperial Shuttle???
True! I wanted to keep the video under 2 hours hahaha… there are several I didn’t mention
@@JakesBricks Oh okay, I just find the UCS shuttle one of my favorites because I prefer the UCS ships that are also minifig scale. When are you picking your contest winner by the way?
Great video Jake! Watching this in Aug 2023, the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer has clearly done well. Would consider investing in it today if you could pick it up for retail price today? (FYI I know this is not financial advice, just an opinion request lol)
At MSRP maybe. But still at 1K after fees and shipping you are making less than $100. It ha definitely performed better than I thought
I picked up the UCS Tie in July of 2016 on Prime Day for $105. The were giving these away. I think it was $135 lightning deal and another $30 from Chase for having the amazon Visa. While these sets are solid investments, I still prefer sets in the $50-$150 range
GBB! I think I do vaguely remember that deal! Maybe that has contributed to its poor performance. Thx for the insight
i was told on twitter by lego that the 75192 millennium falcon is retiring at the end of 2024 cause i had ask just to see how much time i had left to get it before it retires and thats what they said
Interesting… the intel I have said it was extended indefinitely with no retirement date in sight
I've only bought 1 ucs set and that's mos eisly. The other I would like to have is the ewok village. I only like ucs sets if they have a plethora of minifigs since that's really the only reason I buy lwgo sets in the first place
Hey Clayton that totally makes sense. Technically the Mos Eisley is from a new line called “master builder series” which I think they created to distinguish the sets with large displays and multiple figs from the larger ships. But regardless it is a great set
@@JakesBricks gotchaaa ok makes sense. Yea I just prefer play scale sets gor the most part plus the nostalgia is not something I would get from a giant ass x wing or something haha
Sorry for your loss. Go Fins!!!
😞😞
I'd prefer to use Bricklink for more accurate pricing of sets. I don't even use eBay anymore, especially for LEGO.
Ya I would still say eBay is the larger platform for LEGO sales overall… although the fees are higher
What about the Cloud City Lego set? Who knew a bad, hard to display and expensive set at the time would be a great investment. It was also on sell for 20% off.
Both cloud City and betrayal of cloud City have done amazingly well! Boba fett collectors are insane
@@JakesBricks Is there a particular reason why the Betrayal on Cloud City is going for at least double on Ebay despite what I previously mentioned?
@@dvl4586 what do you mean by previously mentioned?
I think brittle brown has hurt the appreciation of the Ewok village and Sandcrawler sets.
Jake this is a great point! Didn’t think of that
Lego lit told everyone what to do by it's name: Ultimate Collector's Series. Just collect them!
TRUTH!
IS it good to buy Disney castle?
If you can find one yes!
Disclaimer: I do not own the 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer nor have I built it. I'm also not the greatest Star Wars fan out there.
That said, I considered buying the set a while ago in order to build it for myself, then did due diligence first and eventually came to conclusion, that 75252 is certainly not the best set for collectors and most definitely not suitable for investing:
1) The build is not particularly stable afaik, parts are bending over time (this I only know by heresay, admittedly).
2) Bright colors inside. Bad enough in itself, but that theses colors are visible through gaps when displayed is simply outrageous.
3) No interior builds (bridge, hangars, crew compartments, etc).
4) Merely 2 minifigs, not even Darth Vader included.
5) LEGO will most likely release a better iteration of the ISD in the future imo, which should at least account for stability, off-color gaps and the lack of interior sections.
Great great great points here!
I have a imperial Star destroyer it's up to about a 1000
Looks like it’s starting to take off!
The Tie Fighter 75095, Is sold for 670 $ In Denmark. Pretty high price.
670 USD!? 🤯
@@JakesBricks correct 😕
@@34Joachim i call BS. in germany its 200€.
@@100Creed okay. On Walmart the 75095 Tie fighter is sold for 635$. So somebody is Selling it to low.
@@34Joachim look at the average buying price. first mistake. second is that u are ignoring privat marketplaces. there it goes for around 250€.
Why do you keep referencing shipping as a cost/factor to the seller in your videos? Isn't that on the buyer?
All of my listings are free shipping! eBay elevates free shipping listings and sell prices tend to be higher that way
@@JakesBricks Makes, sense! Thanks, Jake! Another great video!
2 Months after this video post. Yes that Star Destoryer is $1k+
I am shook! I can't believe it!
No, all that plastic production can't be good for the environment😆🐸
Btw did those early USC star wars sets have the all yellow heads on the minifigs? I don't like those!
I'll be honest I don't know the process for plastic production... But I know that LEGO is rarely thrown away and holds value so that has to be worth something
Nope I think most have appropriate skin tones nowadays
Are you Bears fan? 🐻⬇️
Yessir!!! 💪💪💪
@@JakesBricks Awesome! If you live in the Chicagoland area, would love to meet up for lunch and discuss Lego and Bears. Two great loves.
