Pretty damn good set - if it wasn’t a Luke landspeeder shows how good Lego is as they can make a boring set a good one
Personally I could do without OT sets for a while. I would love if they would release every Prequel set over the next couple of years.

Me too, they’re always really nice but we have too many of them, especially compared to Prequel and Sequel.

I don’t want them to do away with OT sets entirely, as we almost never get anything from Return of the Jedi (and I think that movie is one of the best for Lego sets) but can they seriously add some variety??? Why must every set be OT. Add in some prequel or sequel sets(love or hate the films, we still need Dark-Rey and Palpatine)
All the jokes aside this really is a nice UCS set and props to Lego for not giving us a botched release (cough cough gunship). Also, major props for putting the clear windshield in a plastic bag. That should be the standard from now on. Love the set. Already have it ordered.

What do you think my chances are for getting a replacement windscreen element on cheaper sets?
The stand is probably offset because the aft end of the ship is heavier. They had to line up the stand with the center of gravity. I still think they could have made the stand wider and would have been able to center it better.
Ask MandR: when we get another UCS xwing (inevitably), do you think that we will get ANOTHER pilot luke as they are now, a better version of him (arm printing etc, maybe a new helmet print), or a new pilot fig (someone like Garvis Dreys or whatever his name is, Theron Nett, Biggs Darklighter, or literally anyone but Luke)

Love the perfectly rounded front and the nicely detailed C3PO. Looks like a great display piece, one of my favourite sets aside from the amazing Millennium Falcon.
Had to order this one for the nostalgia alone, one of my first sets was an old landspeeder 7110, which is from back in 99-2000. Glad to get a preview of what I'm sure is going to be a joy to build.
Come for UCS Luke's Landspeeder, stay for UCS Y-Wing.
As much as I like exclusive minfigures in UCS sets I just think that what they've come out and said now is just a poor excuse to milk people of more money. To me it seems quite obvious that the trash compactor 3po is just a downgrade from this 3po, there is no reason to have them be different when they both exist on the current production line, other than to make people buy both sets. If Lego truly cared they would've gone the extra mile and created a special Luke minifigure, or another figure which wouldn't fit in another currently produced set. This is just the wrong way of creating exclusivity, they should not have to downgrade another product in order for that. So in my opinion this is just Lego being greedy while trying to play it of as "pleasing the fans", just my 2 cents, would love to hear what others think about this!

As much as I agree, they seemed pretty set on not putting exclusives in ucs sets, but loads of people pressured them to rethink. That said, it could have been the ultimate reason to do what they actually wanted.
@@hugegamer8004 they could've included the blue milk Luke if they wanted an exclusive fig. Now that they made a perfect 3PO but they use it only in this set (not even in another "exclusive", the trash compactor diorama), people will get mad.

Great review, i appreciate that you where able to stay objective while reviewing this set despite your feelings towards it. With that statement from Lego in the instructions manual saying that it was a highly requested model, my question is.... where do Lego make polls for that? What is actually their source of feedback?... Since i got back into Lego, 2 years ago, i've realised that the younger customer niche (16-25yo) are very loud on social media and overall expressing their views compared to the older customer who don't manifest their interests in the same way. Fewer loud voice will seem like a larger mass of people, while a handful of quiet people will go under the radar. So that's why i'm curious to know what are the sources of feedback that Lego uses as references. And i think, that you Ryan, are a very good candidate to investigate that aspect. Cheers, keep up the good work.

I think they just look at google statistics how many times something is mentioned. not actually whats being said about it. So the more jokes we make the more chance a set is being made :D. Seriously everybody joking about it made the set bad really. While its a great set and a really iconic vehicle that was missing from the UCS. I think even not real Star Wars fans would want to display it with the collection of pop culture cars like the ecto-1, delorean, batmobile etc.
@@DCLXVIDS I dunno, I'm a huge LEGO Star Wars fan and this is one of only two UCS sets I've ever had any real interest in getting (the other being the 2018 Y-Wing).
I love this set, and plan to buy it eventually, and I normally hate large-scale sets, so that’s saying something. I do think this set should’ve been made in 2020 though. It just fits a lot with that wave. Not sure why they chose the 20th anniversary of AotC to celebrate ANH with a USC set and promo based on that film, but whatever

This set is great, and tremendously long overdue! This should have been made during the 2000-2010 era of UCS sets, but I'm happy now rather than in the future!
Definitely one of the more unique UCS sets, the splash of colour is refreshing, especially against all the grey and white vessels that have flooded the UCS line as of late.
A great set for one of the most iconic vehicles from the saga!

I just decided to buy one, it will be my first journey into Lego since my childhood. Looking forward to it! If it is as enjoyable as I think it is, I might have to get something bigger next time like the AT-AT.

I have over 90 Star Wars set's and this is the first time I purchased a UCS set (Of course I used the affiliate link, have show my support!!) Crazy right! I have been eyeing the Falcon, Star Destroyer and Republic Gunship, but my girl tells me to wait XD. She's also a huge Star Wars fan and Lego collector, she even bought me my first Master Builder series- The Cantina, it's just we already drop way to much money into our hobbies!
This is the most positive review I have seen so far for this set and I agree with the review too. This could well be my first UCS set. I love the way it looks . I heard so much flak about this set before it was available in that nobody asked for this set. Well I disagree when I was queuing up at my local Lego Store in Southampton UK. There were loads of customers walking out with this set. There were loads of customers behind me in the queue clutching their Luke's Landspeeder waiting to pay for it. I think this is the UCS set the silent majority wanted and like I said this could well be the first proper UCS set I buy as I own 2 Master builder sets but not a UCS set and I was really disappointed with the UCS Gunship for the money and won't buy one.
I’ve recently got back into Legos due to playing the skywalker saga for nostalgia and this will be my first UCS set, it may not be the biggest or the best but I’m really happy with it can’t wait to build it and hopefully leads me on to even more UCS sets in the future 😅

This is it; Lego's Magnum Opus. My entire life i have advocated for the creation of a UCS Luke's Landspeeder. Now that it is released my life is now complete, now I, Farmboy Luke, can finally rest as my mission is complete.

Not sure whether others share this criticism of Lego or not, but i believe UCS sets should not have stickers to be applied. All brocks/tiles should be printed.
Stickers are fine for playable sets but UCS sets are premium and should not have stickers.
If the pieces were printed instead of having stickers, the sets would be even more expensive. I prefer applying stickers over spending an extra $20.
The appeal will be to a much older demographic. Also, you must remember if you watched Star Wars in 1977 it took 3 years for the next film, Star Wars was groundbreaking in 1977, that speeder was magical then. Now, most new Star Wars fans are able to watch all the films at once therefore Luke Landspeeder's scene is trivial compared to everything else.
Im going to denmark in the 4 of june, and im struggling to see if i should buy the trash compactor for only 60 or the landapeeder with 200 since i gotta ask my mother and father to buy it with me because im saving up. Which one should i buy?
The difference with C3-PO being exclusive to this set and the minifigs everyone wanted for the gunship is that, every can get a C3PO. He isn’t a character you’re missing out on getting if you don’t purchase the big set. But creating a new character that every wants and is highly desired and putting it in a $500 set is what Lego don’t want to do. So C3PO can be special and unique for this set without any problem. It’s why they put Mace Windu in the republic tank. Now anyone can get Mace Windu if they go and buy either set, but if you choose the gunship you get a somewhat unique (not as good one but an exclusive one nonetheless). Farm boy Luke is just the same they did with the clone trooper. There’s not really any inconsistency between this set and the gunship but obviously Lego who are probably influenced by Disney prefer to make Original Trilogy sets as they are better and more widely loved movies
Funny how despite Lego saying they didn't want exclusive figures in expensive sets, the three UCS sets that followed that statement had exclusive figures. And I can only guess that the exclusive Mace Windu in the Republic Fighter Tank was a last minute change to avoid another massive controversy. With that aside, the C-3PO here looks incredible, and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I want to get this set but I ended up buying last year's UCS R2-D2 because the Lego site said it was "Hard to Find" and in Canada the two sets are the same price. Figure this UCS Landspeeder being new will be available to order throughout the remainder of the year & can pick it up then. Also wound up getting the Razor Crest & Moff Gideon's Light Cruiser for those 2x Lego points as well. Definitely got my May the 4th promos locked in! Also hoping for more prequel & sequel sets moving forward., I'm a fan of ALL Star Wars & would be nice to see more variety from the other films represent!

It’s absolutely ridiculous that they have so many stickers, a UCS set should have only printed pieces

I can't believe that "Popular Demand" bit at the front of the instruction booklet. Especially when prequel vehicles seem to be talked about and wished for way more than anything in a majority of the community.
Yeah the way I see it there are two possibilities:
1- They're trolling
2- They saw people joking "oh we've got so many landspeeders; I bet they'll make a UCS one next haha". The LEGO market research people didn't possess a sense of humour and took it seriously.
Honestly you guys overestimate how much money “the community” makes lego. The lego company main goal is to make money obviously and the truth is prequel sets don’t sell as well as Original trilogy sets. I know what you’re gonna say, “But in every CZcams video there’s hundreds maybe thousands of comments saying they prefer the prequal sets”. The online community is the most vocal which makes it the loudest which makes it seem like the overwhelming majority. But in reality they’re not a majority. Lego sells what is gonna make them the most money. How many Landspeeder sets have been released in the last few years? It’s literally simple economics.

Honestly i agree with the stance that cool minifigs should not be exclusive to expensive sets, but the solution should be to make them available later on in cheaper sets, not to remove them from the expensive ones

Having an *almost* as good C-3PO in a set releasing at the same time is just obnoxious. This one ought to be the new standard outside of Juniors sets. I just can't understand why they keep choosing to make worse versions of characters after showing everyone they're capable of better.

I almost bought the set but the only thing making me wait is that Luke minifigure, seen as how they added printing to R2-D2 on the diorama sets I feel they could have added just a bit more to this Luke, maybe dual molded legs as well or side printing. I don’t need another Luke🙃

I think with exclusive miniatures, it should be a variant of a normal figure or they should release a standard version of exclusive figures that haven't had a release. The C-3PO in this set is an excellent example of this. There are plenty of sets that have, had, and will have a standard C-3PO.
I doubt I'll buy this landspeeder but it is cool.

Idk, mace Windu is still an exclusive with dirt printing in the gunship.
Anyways a very accurate representation of the source material but the amount stickers make the set way less premium.
While other premium products have it all no stickers but with amazing prints.
Ex: hot toys, metal build gundam, premium lightsaber collectibles.
LEGO have yet to fully integrate premium into their collector sets especially the UCS line.

I don't know if I'm the only one that does'nt like the C3PO figure, I'm much more accustomed to "classic" minifigures, and when there is too much details, the figure looks a bit "overloaded" in comparison with other figures. I have the same feeling with custome minifigures that have every little details of a clone armor for example.

Ordered the C-3PO minifigure from this set on eBay because it’s all I cared about. Has anyone else noticed mismatching “LEGO” prints on his feet where the trademark is supposed to be or is mine a KO? Kinda assumed it was because the legs are molded differently and I don’t understand why a KO manufacturer would go through the trouble to include the TM just for them to not be facing the same direction 😂

Its a neat set, but of little interest to me personally.
I'm holding out for a Venator or something that REALLY grabs me now. I've got almost all the ships so far, except some of the really old sets like Obi-Wans Jedi Starfighter, the N1 (lol), and the really old Vader and Interceptor Ties
Really hope they will release a UCS Scimitar. One of the sleekest and coolest prequel ships.
Someone should try and make an in scale R2D2 and/or C3PO build to put on the back!

Does anybody know what is the point of having a VIP membership with Lego please guys?! I joined up last week so I could order this UCS Landspeeder set on the 01.05.22. I managed to get the Landspeeder and all the freebies etc, but it's now 03.05.22 and my order is still in the Warehouse? So basically I could of ordered the UCS set tomorrow on 04.05.22 and not be a VIP member because I haven't gained anything as yet??

Ask MandR: Do you have any new info on the Lego monthly subscription for potential retired set purchasing, etc? I would love to purchase a UCS Y Wing but I'm struggling to justify the £400 price tag it currently has, when I recently got the UCS Star Destroyer for £490 (from John Lewis in the UK)

Wasn't too excited but seeing these reviews makes me doubt. It looks really clean and like an awesome build. It's something different than the giant technic frames with gray plates on it.

I thought the same but figured what the hell, since I’m a OT vehicle fan. This just looks so well done and it is an iconic vehicle.
Maybe I'm not thinking about this from the right angle, but I don't really see the merits of exclusive figures for an expensive set. For me, lots of people having cool stuff, doesn't make my stuff feel less cool. For example, let's say that there are two LEGO sets, one is cheap one is expensive.
Do you want the figure, but don't care about the set it comes with? Buy the cheap one.
Do you want the cool set, but don't care about the figure? Buy the expensive one.
Regardless of the choice you make, you still get the cool figure.
I mean, I have about 70 501st troopers, but I don't think that they're less cool just because someone else has more of them than I do.
(Unless LEGO's intention was still to make a premium figure, but also make a cheaper downgraded version and still count them as the same thing. Which I could actually see happening.)

Question: the plaque says that the capacity, besides the couple of people, it can hold up to 5kg?? so youve got this car like speeder, you can bring your family but only 5 kilos of additional cargo? waht am i not getting?
