    The A110S runs no camber up front from the factory, which causes the understeer. After a new geo setup by Manthey racing the turn-in and grip made my A110S a different car. And yet another one with Cup2 tires. The geometry changes are a MUST for every A110 owner ;)

    One major point; The base price of the Caymen is the price shown. As ever with Porsche, that includes almost nothing. You will have to add about £8k in extras to get close to the spec of the Alpine. I have been through the process and have driven them back to back. I am dailying an Alpine S now. I will take the 1 second a lap. The bonus is that is that I am not playing ‘German badge wars’ either!

      Hard to judge: The 718S is 5K cheaper and still a bit up in power, the GTS is 5K more expensive - but with better equipment. I think it fits quite well because above that is still the GT4 and in a few months even a GT4 RS. The 718 S is also close to the price of a normal A110 Alpine. There is just 4K difference in it. Having owned the 718 S previously I can confirm the engine soundtrack is transformed.... whether just cruising in town or pushing it hard on sweeping backroads. 1480 kg for the cayman gts kerb weight are you serious ? This is enormous, it's only 195kg lighter than a 918 with its huge batteries, especially for a gts supposed to be lighter than the basics, that's closer from a sledgehammer than a sports car, that's disappointing coming from Porsche

      Kerb is actually 1405. European figures also include cca 80kg for driver. Well what would you expect? Cars arent getting any lighter with all of the safety measures engineered

      @@akfrets3770 More than 2 tons loaded with passengers aboard, I guess the Cayman is not that heavy, but even 1120kg for the Alpine looks a lot to me, as a Gordon T50 which is way bigger weighs 140 kg less (ok, not the same category at all)

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo Před 2 lety

      Cayman has a steel chassis unlike the aluminium A110 or Evora/Emira, that would explain a higher weight. When the rivals use spaceframes, would you call the use of a standard steel unibody as cost-cutting by Porsche... I dunno?

  • @joelmichels5564

    Totally unfair BS comparision... use the cayman S instead the GTS against the Alpine! Quicker or slower? ....I prefer the Alpine!

    I look forward to seeing the same thing happen to the new, over-hyped, Yaris.

  • @gamerscockpit

    Thought with it being wet that this would help a smaller, lighter car.............but you said that the wet helped the heavier car???????? PS the Alpine will still have understeer in the dry as you said it was engineered in as a safety feature.

    • @SkyrimCZtutorials
      @SkyrimCZtutorials Před 3 lety

      It does not help Cayman as you must be more careful of putting the power down. Also, Cayman with PDK is significantly faster

    • @adamkelsall3942
      @adamkelsall3942 Před 3 lety +1

      The Alpine’s suspension geometry is very adjustable and comes out of the factory with less than ideal settings. Unlikely to trouble the Porsches laptime however. The understeer could be dialled out - fun doesn’t always equal faster laptimes.

    Always the same old mindless lap time comparison ! 🤦‍♂️🙄
    Furthermore when there is a 100 HP difference ! 🤨🙄
    What is important in a sports car is the dynamic behaviour !
    The right thing to do in a comparison like this was to compare more deeply the dynamic qualities and negatives of each car ! this guy has a lot of improvements to make before judging cars 😏

    Nice review, but can you so-called professional journalists from the UK please learn how to pronounce the name of one of the most important brands on the planet?
    It's Poh-she or Por-sha, two simple syllables that even you can learn.
    Is Nike pronounced 'Neekie', is Telsa pronounced 'Tea-sla'? No, everyone knows that.
    How many years is it going to take for it to sink into your weird British skulls?
