the craziest part is they took the name "Lady A" from an actual black person. The lady had been using the name since the 80s, then they sued the black "lady A"..... all to end racism. absolute bonkers!

I'm a black person and I knew Lady Antebellum when they broke our in 2008. I've been listening to country music for 17 years now, and I'm 23. I grew up in Knoxville, TN during the 2000s and 2010s and I heard plenty of Lady A, that counts.
"Ante bellum" just means "before war" in Latin. As a European I would never have guessed that that name had anything to do with black or white, just with the history of Italy and the Romans.
Before war. Not after. After is postbellum.
