as an entomologist/arachnologist, I totally enjoy the jokes about the crawlies (the others too)
And the daddy long leg problem: I know it too well. Vernacular names are confusing, and if you look at them in several languages even more. (I'm luxemburgish, so 3 official languages and english. Such a mess 😅) scientifically, "Tipulidae", "Pholcidae" and "Opiliones" are commonly called daddy long legs, but more or less unrealated to one another (or similarly same names in other languages). But I totally get that it is not common for average people to speak in scientific names. Although it sure would make my life easier sometimes.
There's an old movie called "Daddy Long Legs" but don't be fooled, it's just Fred Astaire doing his thing, not an insect in sight.
Seems you care more what They are called than what they can do. They can bite and aren't poisonous. But thanks for all the fancy words I will never understand.

so any Americans watching this questioning why he said a daddy long legs can fly, this is because a daddy longlegs in the Uk (maybe some other places idk) is a nickname for a type of fly, while in the US its a type of spider (technically not a spider but shush)

To a Brit, a "daddy long legs" is a crane fly. In America, we refer to Cellar Spiders as Daddy-Long-Legs. And the thing about the poison is a myth.

I know it’s only a comedy routine but the common belief about the daddy long legs having the most toxic venom of all spiders is patently false. According to the Australian museum, the myth came about from observations of them eating Red-back Spiders, but their venom is not potent, even for insects. It is also rumoured their fangs are incapable of piercing human skin, that has been proven to be false also, as proven on myth busters.
Do you also know that the peanut it not a nut, it's a legume?
One more thing, Daddy-Long-Legs aren't even spiders.

What is missing is the background of reproducible evidence that is the bedrock of valid skepticism. It is that which is now missing from education. I blame the arts side of the 'two-cultures' divide ... which also facilitates/condones 'fake news' and blatant lying by just about anybody in power. Cynicism at least 'calls them out'.

I'm a Christian who likes much of Ricky's comedy. Not offended by jokes about God, I just find them lazy. He really hasn't thought that much about his unbelief. He uses humor to avoid real examining the evidence. And there is a ton of it.

Love Rick - but sadly like lots of so called wild life websites you also do not know what a Daddy long legs is - you are getting mixed up with a Crane fly - and yes there is something called a Daddy long legs spider but these are both NOT what a Daddy long legs is. The Daddy long legs is actually a creature referred to as a Harvestman and is not a true spider. They are a type of arachnid that is actually more closely related to scorpions. Unlike true spiders, daddy longlegs only have 2 eyes instead of 8, and they do not have silk glands so they do not produce webs. Also, daddy longlegs have different mouthparts than most other arachnids. They can eat solid foods instead of just liquids and they are commonly eaten by other true spiders.
