Recently bought a supra USB cable, I'm pleased with it's performance for the price :)
Your review was a key factor at deciding, you're doing great!
So glad I was able to help and (more importantly) that you're happy with your cable choice!
Wow. That would be super handy in some situations
Lachlan, an excellent review and with good solid advice for anyone thinking about buying digital bnc cables. In particular you are right to emphasise the context of the price of cables within the overall investment in the whole system. Just one little tip for any of your viewers looking to make the best of the more affordable type of dual BNC cables for the Mscaler, both Rob Watts and I did similar tests with different lengths of ‘normal’ BNC cables and shared our results with each other. We both found that we preferred 1m length compared to 0.5m length and that 2m cables were better than the 1m ones. Better in this context was smoother sound etc. So I would suggest it is probably worthwhile spending a bit more to get 2m dual BNC cables from Supra rather than the shorter ones you tried (assuming 2m ones are available, I have not checked). I am not saying that this will get you any where near WAVE Storm sound quality but it is a neat trick to make the best of a budget cable.
That's really interesting! Thanks, Nick - I might give that a go myself and see what I hear. Would that be the same with using the BNC/Coax cables to connect a transport and DAC?
@@PassionforSound I have not tried the longer cables in that situation but I would expect any effect to be somewhat relative to the context of the system where it is being tried. Indeed your own experiments with cable swopping to a transport and Dac would appear to support this. What might be clearly audible in one system might struggle to be heard in a different system.
That makes total sense. Thanks, Nick
I got a pair of the Edifier W820NB headphones after seeing your mini review (left a comment about my experience with them on that video, so I won’t repeat it here) but the TLDR is that I’m 100% happy with them.
Thanks for the heads up.
My pleasure. They're a really great headphone for the price, aren't they!? So glad you're enjoying them.
Dear L. With a leap of faith in you message. I got a Cinnamon USB,( B to C ) to run my Hiby 5. Very happy with my perchase. Best,D.
Great news! So glad you're happy with your purchase!
I tried a 2m Supra against a Belden (BJC) 2m 4794R BNC cable (pre terminated by BJC with 75r BNC's). These sound as you describe the Wave cables, compared to the Supra; significant improvement. Add a $1 ferrite at each end And the improvement got even better still, with improvements in blackness, air, depth, and smoothness over the non-ferrite Belden. I was under $50 USD shipped to CONUS. Impossible to beat, And I remain a big fan of Supra; I still use their Excalibur USB.
Thanks for the info on the Belden cables. I should see about reviewing those too.
@@PassionforSound Yeah the 4794R is quite stiff, but is objectively excellent for the $$ and, I suspect, relatively independent of its low cost. It is technically a 12G SDI cable (serial digital interface; the pro, coaxial version of HDMI. 12G = 4K UHD and 8K quadlink). I suspect other 12G SDI cables from Belden could be excellent as well. 4794R is only bettered by one other, thicker and stiffer, Belden 75r BNC cable.... the mighty (and mighty stiff) 4731R. Stiff enough to be impractical for most. But it's basically the lowest-loss 75r BNC cable in the world. Able to carry 4K UHD in 4:2:2 color at least 100m, passively. I have one on order. Even still, under $60 USD for 2m, fully terminated with special Belden 75r BNC's.
Note that these 12G SDI cables are supremely difficult to terminate, so i only buy completed cables from reputable audio/video supply houses.
Supra il the only one, as far as I know, that supply test and a certificate that those cable are strictly as from specs. Very serious company.
I'm not sure if they're the only ones, but I agree that they are very focused on designing to specifications
Supra Cables 🇸🇪 are highly recommended based on our experience over many years 👍

Ou yes all of Supra's cables are excellent actually knowing that without seeing your video . I just upgraded power cable and usb cable for Supras cables (Supra 2.0 and Supra LoRad power cable, their cheapest ones) in my Xduoo TA10 all in one DAC/AMP, and hoooly moooly it is an upgrade on my Sundaras. Now I want to see Stack around 750 bucks (with stock cables) which will beat it, no chance. As my reference of sound spectacularity I use my Shanling m8💪 with my kinera nanna 2.0 and Sundara. This cables hold huge value, u spend around 120 bucks and u will take ur system to a whole new level, and they will last you life time, it is an investment. They change literaly every aspect of the sound.
Making the jump from blue jeans 1694a to a much more expensive coax , maybe terillium waveform coax , not sure how much more improvement I will hear , kind of afraid to purchase as the terillium starts at around over 400 us
It's always a tough jump to make. I don't know the Blue Jeans to be able to tell you what to expect. Can you try it somehow before buying or return if you're not happy with it? I expect you will be because Tellurium seem to make excellent cables, but it's nice when you can hear for yourself first.
Would be interested in seeing a video with the supra lorad spc power cable, if power cables are something you'd be interested in experimenting with
Definitely interested and definitely happening 😉
I've got a pile of Supra power gear and interconnects on the way to setup my testing rig and also to review them and share my thoughts for you all. It's still a little way off, but it's locked into the plans for 2022.
@@PassionforSound That's fantastic! Looking forward to seeing your thoughts in due course
Hi Lachlan, you mentioned a local AUS distributor. Is there any local AUS retailers or do we need to inquire through the Jenving website (pay international postage, etc)?
Hi John, I'm not sure who the local retailers are, but let me find out for you...
Will you doing a video on tin t3+ ?
Sure will! Working on it in the next week or so for release later in February
Hey Lachlan, what do you use as your digital source?
Hi Sasha, most of my listening is from a PC with JCat LAN and USB cards. I sometimes use a Volumio Primo or Raspberry Pi with HAT as well.
@@PassionforSound Cool, thanks. I just have my PC going straight into my DAC, and am wondering if I should upgrade the source before even thinking about cables... I want to test the waters with cables for fun to see if I can hear any difference, but worry I'll be bottlenecked by my motherboard's USB output.
I don't normally recommend spending money on cables until the other pieces are in place (DAC, amp and headphones), but there's no issue playing with cables straight from a standard PC USB. Add-on cards provide around the same amount of improvement (maybe a little more) than cables in my experience so you can play with cables without concern 🙂
Please review the NEW *HiFiMan Deva PRO Bluetooth* headphone!
I have them here and will be reviewing them soon 😁
A sound demo/comparison would be nice.
That would be impossible to do, with you tube compression....
@@chefsteve8381 you just make separate downloadable files.
@@kyron42 With a headphone yes, a cable change no..
I'm with Steve on this one. By the time you try to record the output, the differences get minimised through the recording process (unless I could afford top-end recording gear which I can't). The end result of doing sound demos for cables like this would be a whole bunch of trolls telling me that the sound demos prove that cables make no difference at all. No thanks 🙂
@@PassionforSound these days budget audio interfaces are incredibly good. I'm surprised you don't have any sort of audio interface. If you can't tell the difference between 2 cables recorded through a budget audio interface then the difference is much less significant than everything else in your system. You'd probably get much more bang for your buck upgrading your headphones.
Can you blind test them?
Sure, but I've found that there's no benefit and it actually creates it's own set of errors so I prefer extended listening, recognising expectations / assumptions and deliberately seeking to disprove those assumptions to ensure that the end results are unbiased and well considered. Of course, if I had a "horse in the race" that would be a problem, but I'll always declare that if it ever happens.
@@PassionforSound well i appreciate your reviews. Thank you for your consideration and time.
Thanks Grady. Glad they're helpful.
Is that a SUPRA? 😂
