- The Steven Spielberg directed movie "Lincoln" follows the iconic 16th president of the United States of America as he works to abolish slavery in the U.S. by passing the 13th amendment. Jeremy gives you his review of "Lincoln".

I was so glad they got Lincoln's voice right according to historical accounts.
Is there recording of the actual Lincoln voice? If there is not, then no one knows how he sounded.
Joseph Mauricio Flores
They don’t and there is accounts that his voice was raspy and unpleasant
Joseph Mauricio Flores well they didn’t have the tech to record voices then. But by all accounts, his voice was raspy and high pitched, which is what DDL went for in this film
@@scottishjedi1522 it's really a shame... Voice recording was invented in 1877. only 12 years after Lincoln's demise. Had he not been murdered, we would have known his voice. But Isn't there any impersonation of his voice that lived untill the late 19th century?
@@tvtrauma7024 So basically it would sound more like a tired guy basically.
Lincoln was amazing and very different than what I expected. Spielberg's still got it.
My dad worked on this movie! So proud
what did he do?
he was the janitor cleaning after the screening
gmans 😂😂😂 that's fucked up
Some questions never get answers
He should be.
Now I wish Spielberg would do a movie on George Washington
Spielberg seems like the right guy for the job. As long as he does the same thing as he did in thins film-peel away the myths surrounding him.
The Crossing with Jeff Daniels as Washington was pretty good. Wasn’t a masterpiece, but really did a good job in showing us what made Washington a good military leader. How he kept his small rag-tagged army together through the thickest of hard conditions. Washington wasn’t a good tactician, but he was a good leader in keeping the fighting spirit for the American cause.
Too many things that are connected to every story you can tell about that Era. Thomas Jefferson would be interesting...then again you'd get a lot of heat portraying him in a good light since he owned slaves. Well, Washington did too.
History will remember you jeremy, as an awsome film/game critic
Dude you did a perfect imitation of the Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln.
There already is a definitive Lincoln movie: Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.
i love that movie XD
Erm, NO. Just- NO.
You're a funny guy
Lol nice joke
Jordyn Galvan lol epic movie
Daniel Day-Lewis brought a real humanity to Lincoln. Many times, when an actor portrays an admired leader from history, they tend to imbue the role with so much heroic posturing that the character becomes more of a myth than representing a real flesh and blood human being. Kudos to Lewis for really showing the vulnerable, flawed and all too human side Lincoln. He definitely deserves an Oscar nomination for his performance in this film.
"Daniel Day-Lewis will get an Oscar for this film and probably win."
-Jeremy Jahns (2012)
You predicted the future with him winning best actor
This movie was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Seriously when I was watching this at the movies, for the first hour I had to go to the bathroom. After that I was so interested I literally forgot I had to go until the credits started rolling. Its that damn good.
Netherwolf6100 "i am the president of the united states of america, clothe in immense power!!",
I think my favorite line during the voting scene is when George Yeaman whispers "My vote ties us." and then they say "I am sorry Mr. Yeaman. How do you vote?" and he stands up and says "I said Aye Mr. McPherson, AYE." A little over the top but I love it.
I like a little later when the Ohio Congressman (I forgot his name) who was threatened for considering voting in favor of the Amendment said, "God damn it, I'm voting yes!"
I swear I saw Jeremy's hair go gray when he was doing his impression of Lincoln.
One of my favorite Steven Spielberg movies. easily in my top 5.
Same
Well you must be a nerd for liking all these history type movies
Ryan Lion Yes, because liking history makes you a nerd, idiot
This is one of those movies no matter how many time's I watch it it doesn't get old.
2:25... I think you mean... UNPRESIDENTED?
*rimshot* ^_^
I see what you did thar
PLEASE review There Will Be Blood soon!! His performance in that many consider to be even better than in Lincoln and in most of his other films and although the genre isn't 1 of my favorites, his acting and the overall film absolutely blew me away. It's undisputedly 1 of the best of this century.
He didn't líke it . He said That in a QandA
Yeah, he said that if he thinks any movie is overrated, it's The Hurt Locker and There Will Be Blood. I felt the same way on my first viewing, but TWBB just leaves me thinking about it days after I see it. PTA's films are an acquired taste imo. Kind of like most Kubrick films.
That's just too bad. It's dismaying to hear that one of my favorite CZcams movie reviewers doesn't appreciate one of my top 10 favorite movies.
Best movie ever ❤
The connection between Lincoln and his children is what really gave heart and soul to the film
I absolutely love this movie. One of the greatest films ever made.
One thing that blew me away that gets overshadowed by the acting and the cast and the direction and all that is the costumes, sets, and lighting. It's so absolutely perfect. It genuinely feels like looking back in time, they get the clothing and makeup so accurate it's nuts, and you very rarely feel like you are looking at a set that is being lit by period-inappropriate lighting.
I watched John Adams. It's actually pretty good. Paul Giamatti plays John Adams VERY well.
Well, Giamatti is typically awesome whenever he shows up, yes? But, yeah, he made a great John Adams!
Azatarot75 No argument here.
This is by far one of Steven Spielberg's best movies right here!!! Daniel Day-Lewis killed it along with Tommy Lee-Jones and Sally Field killed it in their roles!!!
We need a JFK biopic
i think they should do one on his father.
+DreDaDon__ I can agree with you there!!! We need a JFK movie that is not directed by Oliver Stone. Steven Spielberg or Martin Scorsese should direct it
+Jacob Duran Or maybe a film about George Washington
Sigurd Thyrring That would be good to
+DreDaDon__ Check out
"13 Days"
I'm shocked that I looked for a 11 year old movie review and saw your channel as the top result lol
I didn't know you went so far back with your reviews. Nice surprise!
So no vampires?
Different movie.
@@SamaritanPrime Yeah no shit!
Oh brother😶
7 awesometaculars this year so far. (The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Looper, Argo, Wreck It Ralph, Skyfall, and Lincoln)
Jack Nelson should have been 8 - Life of Pi 🐅
Jeremy,
Before watching your review I had the same kinda "Ehh, a long biographical movie" attitude towards it but now you've actually made me want to see it.
Thank you, sir.
i loved the shit out of lincoln
YES
glad you see that you were getting out of hand, still shocked over Wreck-it Ralph getting one, even thought it was an enjoyable movie. Red Dawn has to be reviewed next
Even if history doesn't remember you, Jeremy, your fans always will remember you.
All's forgiven, Mr. Jahns. My favorite presidential film isn't exactly one per se but..."Thirteen Days", the dramatization of the Cuban Missile Crisis of choice before "X-Men: First Class" took that baton away from it.
I don't think anyone could understand how happy I get when I see that you posted a new review...
I loved 'Thirteen Days' was the first region 1 DVD I bought. Fascinating subject, fantastic cast, well filmed and very intense.
I literally got back from this movie, and it was amazing! It was so intense and at the end when the vote goes down Jeremy is right you totally forget your history and arer just like "let it pass let it pass let it pass!" I even git teary during Lincoln's assasination, that just caught me off guard
Spot on review Jeremy. I was surprised how much I actually liked this film, it was really really good. I loved teh performances and the story and the film was never boring for me.
I remember during the 11th grade we saw this as a field trip. I didn't expect much, just an excuse to get out of school for the day even thiugh we had to do a report on it later. It was surprisingly good so it wasn't that hard to focus on it.
I like to watch your videos high because your reviews are crazy accurate and cool, you really know your cinema
Man, speaking of Daniel Day-Lewis, review There Will Be Blood. I really loved that movie.
They should do another one of these but with Washington.
One thing that i really like about this guy is that hes consistent. He doesnt make a new video once every month like most CZcams reviewers do.
Fantastic review! Glad you dug this movie, Jeremy! I LOVED Lincoln so much; it's my favorite movie of the year and, yes, one of Spielberg's greatest films.
Day-lewis was lincoln.
They should make a movie on the revolutionary war.
The Patriot with Mel Gibson was pretty good.
XavierJ61 I haven't seen it. I've seen a little, and your right it was good! But I mean a more recent one.
XavierJ61 Saw that movie. Joker was in it.
^ Which Joker? Jake Nichelson or Heath Ledger?
Tyler Burrows Ledger.
YOUR REVIEWS ARE AWESOMETACULAR JEREMY!
THANK YOU for mentioning the John Adams miniseries, it's an amazing piece of film.
"I know I've been giving away alot of awesometaculars lately and it kinda dilutes the currency but I truly believe Lincoln deserves it. On a side note, if you haven't seen HBO's John Adams miniseries, go check that it because it is...
Awesometacular"
Yeah, I'd agree with that too!
Thanks for the review. We're going to watch this tonight on Amazon Prime:)
Kenneth Branagh's "Warm Springs." It similarly examines one aspect of FDR's life and Branagh is always awesome in everything he does.
review John Adams, the mini serie
Would be hilarious if history actually remembers Jeremy :D
@lswkid your exact point was addressed in the film, Lincoln stated this factor of a better union, not being possible as a result of slavery. Also most of the films premise speaks to his desire to end the war but using this as a legal tactic.
Tom Hardy's performance in Bronson has got to be one of my favorite performances in any biopic and without a doubt my favorite by Hardy himself.
"HOW DARE YOU...!!!!"
And do Minority Report and a clockwork orange.
Btw @Jeremy Jahns when you're advertising other Awesometacular videos what's that one in the middle?
Would love to see your thoughts on Schindler's List Jeremy! Just watched it for the first time and was blown away.
Does Amistad count? That was a good one
What was up with Jeremy's hair? He kinda has the hair of Lincoln.
DUDE! review requiem for a dream!
and i absolutely love your reviews
This was a really good film. I didn't expect to like it but I really did. Mainly for Daniel Day's performance. He WAS Lincoln... Like you said, Abe Lincoln was IN this film.. plain and simple.
Not a PRESIDENT, per se, but The King's Speech was fantastic!
Pretty damn good film, actually! A lot more fun than you'd think it'd be.
You never reviewed the Butler!!!!!!!!!
I just saw Lincoln...and yes is now my favorite movie about a President, totally loved.
Hey Jeremy, now that The Master is out on Blu-Ray, do you think you can review that movie? I would really like to hear your opinion on it.
where are the vampires?
Wrong movie the one your looking for is abarham Lincoln vampire hunter.
That's another (not as good) movie.
Also, this film proves that Lincoln does mostly deserve his reputation as the Great Emancipator.
***Great review! Never apologize for giving your rating my friend. Good job!***
Jeremy, I'm watching this in the year 2096, I'm watching this in my head. You are the Legend of the Future, you are our L. Ron Hubbard, we follow you, we are followers of the Awesometaculair. One day we will rule the world.
I loved the movie but I thought it was a tad bit too long.
Yeah this movie bored the shit outta me
Sometimes i just come to see what's your verdict about the movie. Then i remember how awesome your reviews are, and watch all of it. :)
As An Australian I loved Lincoln
I am also an indigenous
it was too damn dull. I love slow and dialogue heavy movies. But this was just too damn dull
I liked the movie, but I would have loved to see a film about his whole life, it would be so interesting to see his rise to his powerful position
Yes! I've been waiting for this movie review lol thanks Jeremy. Seriously, my mother wants to go see this movie with me this week, and I'll be honest, I haven't been looking forward to it one bit. Even though the trailer and the actors looked very good, I tend to be dissapointed and bored out of my mind with these kinds of movies. But thanks to this review I'm going to go and leave my pessimistic attitude about it behind. Whatever it is, it is, and now I have a feeling I might be in for a treat.
Love your reviews
Big kudos to the decision on lighting in the movie. No fake darkness. When it was night and only lit by a candle, it was dark! Thought the movie was very good and the lighting brought a sense of the technological times to a very sharp point!
"NO! NO! You're gonna tell another story!" LOL!
Jeremy, you should give us a Christmas present....a video of either 1) your top 5 favorite movies and why? 2) your favorite movie in a variety of genres
I've read about Abraham Lincoln, I've seen documentaries depicting him, but this is the first time the man's ever been fleshed out before my eyes. By far the best performance I've seen all year.
Hey Jeremy, just wanted to you know that no matter how many trolls or idiots there are out there.
Just know that every one of us here, is here for one and one reason only, we love your reviews!
I was hesitant to see Lincoln, but it was AMAZING!
You will go down in history. You'll go down as not only the most successful movie reviewer on CZcams, but probably the best.
my brother will surely LOVE this movie... thank you Jeremy for reviewing this... :-)
History will always remember you jeremy!
I totally agree! Albeit when I did see this in movies 2014 at Helsinki, Finland I was only person in theatre..
I loved that they focused the movie on the reality surrounding the politics of trying to do a good thing that most people involved don't want to happen.
Was really cool & in my opinion makes his legend more badass than doing a life-story flick where they just try to depict "The Legend of Lincoln" & stuff
Review the Departed please!!
A lot of people hate that movie, but I personally loved it. Some of the dialogue was cliche, and the story was cliche, but I still watch this movie all the time. I wish Jeremy would do a review of it.
You deserve way more subscribers
How... Does his hair look so amazing!?!? All the time!!!!
I saw this Film 4 times while it was in Theaters, The Film is beyond inspirational!!!!
Hey Jeremy, I just wanna say that you should keep on giving "awesometatcular"s as long as you feel it fits. I mean 2012 just IS an amazing year of movies. Not giving an honest rating for the sake of having "too many films, that are awesometacular" would be kinda weird. Just stay true to your own opinion. Love the vids, you're always my No.1 go-to guy (or channel) when I check my youtube upload news. Keep it up.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.... It was also the only presidential movie I've seen.
Love. Your. CZcams name. (and the picture too, obviously.)
Seriously. I don't know you, but you're awesome! :D
yo jermeny you should have a separate playlist for your awesometacular movies
hey Sir Jeremy, any chance you will be doing a review of the new hitman game?:)
I can't wait to see this!
Jeremy! When will your Two Towers review be up?
i'm a huge fan of President Lincoln and this movie was my absolute dream. Spielberg did such a good job on this
