1960 Ford Ranch Wagon Junkyard Find! Part 2! Abandoned for 39 years! Will it run?!?

- I pulled this 1960 Ford Ranch Wagon from a private salvage yard in the fall of 2020. In the last video we found it had a stuck engine but this time we finally get it moving under it's own power!! The Ranch Wagon is the lower trim package for the 1960 Ford wagons and this one came equipped with the OHV inline 6 cylinder and column shifted 3 speed manual transmission. The floors are pretty soft but it moves under it's own power! This car already found a new owner so if you’re interested you’re too late! Thanks for watching!

It's a good thing that you got tiny stone cold steve austin to help lol
Yeah, you don't want him comin off the top ropes at ya!
I thought I saw his cousin in one of those backyard wrestling videos jump off the roof and slam someone with a folding chair!

Man that Ranch Wagon with a 302 5 speed buckets that finned beauty would be a peach !!
Ol Pudden would get that dirty car ship shape in no time Sir Morticus !!
You know ur in trouble when mortski is the serious one working on your car
Cant figure out why theres not more subs for this channel....One of the best
Everyone needs to get t-shirts and advertise. It's a great channel. I've been wearing mine and people have been asking were this shop is. I say look on CZcams and find out.
@@Robrt32 Straight 6's are some of the coolest engines of all time! They can be tuned and built to be even faster than V8's.
love the body style on that. esp the front end.
Awesome engine swap, and then driving that baby around the property! Such talent! It’s a pleasure watching you work!!! 👍🏼
Man I like when you bring on the"HELP" It's entertainment
Can't beat good help!
I had one of those wagons (1960) when I was in the Army in 1978! Had a 390 V-8 and 3 on the tree!
Bet it hauled!
@@MortskeRepair actually, it most definitely did. 🤣👍
Duff did not look like he appreciated the donuts. But yet he always jumps right in. Three cheers for man's best friend!
Since you said no one watched the 60 ford wagon I went back and watched this episode. If that car could only tell us the stories from its many family vacation trips. I remember back when..if you had a station wagon..you were a family.
Thanks for watching!
I always find myself amazed that these Station Wagons appeal to me. Back in the day, I wouldn’t look at these things twice. Great job getting it going.
Best. CZcams. Channel. EVER!
Thanks Nuke!
My old knees are killing me just watching you kneel on that concrete floor lol.
Yeah, it's not fun...
I can't figure out why I like that car. When I was a kid I wouldn't have looked twice at one. Now they are cool 😎
You just never see cool stuff anymore!
I had a 64 Ford falcon wagon bought it at a church auction of all places got it from the original owner 800 bucks for it wasn't even rotted out shitbox. Absolutely love that damn thing totally regret telling it but it went to a good friend of mine's knowing that he would never engine swap it or do anything drastically done with it and now his oldest son is driving it. I grew up in station wagons that are awesome mine was like having my suburban I could carry sheets of plywood in the damn thing all kinds of stuff in it. One of the coolest things was the tailgate on that one cuz it either folded down or would swing out and it had a giant crank window love that thing especially with the rear facing back seat all my friends kids love fighting that thing because they got this facing the opposite direction something that many people and kids will never ever know what that like.
Good luck on saving the shop if it depends on selling that ranch wagon.
I figured the shop was gone when I saw you three jacking on that motor with an iron pry bar.
@@joshjablonicky171 Man I need to find a deal like that!
i am a how dare you? fan because of Mortske show...as always, thanks for the episode, a big cookie for Duff (& friend), sammiches for the human!!!
much appreciated Jaime!
Ford wagons of that era were considered to be prized junkyard finds during my teenage street racing days. A six cylinder wagon with the three speed and overdrive came equipped with a 9 inch Ford rear end with 411 gear ratio. Perfect for street and occasional drag race when the third member was installed in my 1965 HiPo Mustang that came with the Ford nine inch rear end.
I've heard that about those diffs!

@@logicthought24 Trucks usually have a 31 spline vs. the cars 28 spline so you'd have to get new axles or swap the entire diff and get different bolt pattern wheels with the pickup stuff.
@@MortskeRepair seems like I remember the axle spline variation would show up in station wagon rear ends too.
@@geraldtrice4894 Ahh you may be right. I know wagons had the big bearing axle tubes.
The wagon is just cool enough. Duff did a good job on it !
There are moments when I think Duff knows more about fixing cars than Mortske. Tee hee.
He's way ahead of me!
"show me where to put it and I'll stick it there" best line of the video.
Thanks Mortske for taking the time to send me the cab pannel off of the 66 F100. It came in a couple of days ago. You're an honorable man.
Glad to hear you received it! Sorry it took so long on my end! Busy around here keeping the shop afloat!
@@MortskeRepair Dont sweat it, I completely understand. I do appreciate your time and effort. It is in far better shape than the one currently on the truck.
@@briansutton7764 Good to hear!
That was so special, it almost made me cry! 😭😂. Great to see it on the road!
Glad you enjoyed it Nancy!
You couldn't give me JB Weld. Not anymore. Even a hot batch won't harden.
Cool station wagon suddenly got popular. Lucky has a nice build going on one.
Just found this channel by accident. I'm a new subscriber glad I found it
Much appreciated Jeff!
Getting her running after nearly 40 years is the biggest hurdle. Body wise. She looks solid and plenty of TLC will make her a decent daily driver again. As always Mort, a big thumbs up.
Mortske got the sickest jams ever had to headbang while you guys getting that engine out. 🤘🏻
As Always Mortske, Great Video! Pet Duffers for me!
Will do!
Morning Mista Mortske
Morning Duff. Guess I'll Get Started Leveling This Room, After Drinking Coffee & Watching This Kickass Video
Man you should have had enough samich box cardbord to make that thermostat gasket !
Hope she finds a good home with someone who wants to do all the wrench time on her. Old girls pretty beat up, but she's trying to show us what she's got. Stay safe & be well.
Best 48 minutes of my life! Watching Magic Mortske do his thing and bring friends along. Another good one!
Thanks Roy!
It makes it all worth it to see how happy Duff is to go for a ride at the end of every video!!!
The old bump shove and shuffle to get the trans lined up, though you had 3 people so I'm not sure if that was help or made things worse haha
Buy this car and put an Crown Vic under it!!
A tip for carb gaskets an old guy taught me use original chapstick on both sizes just rub em down....plus you can pull later and gaskets stay intact!
Grease works too
I love wagons! Keep them coming!
Will do!
Great video what a cream puff love it you and duff are the best.👍👍👍👍
There’s 2 sayings...”many hands make light work”..........and the other one which might be applicable here...”too many cooks spoil the broth”😂🥴
Hahaha I think we're the 2nd one!
it's good to see the wagon have a second chance at life, even if it mean a "heart transplant" a car like this deserves to be restored and back one the road again, watching this now and ready to see it alive again
The 1960 Ford Wagon is the coolest thing I have ever seen!!!!
Can you imagine it all fixed up with a 351 Cleveland V-8 and glass pack cherry bombs? !!
also a mint brand new repro interior
That wagon is a real GEM !!! - funny story about a question you asked about what is the strangest thing you found when working on a vehicle. I found a used condom inside my girlfriend's air cleaner cover... Pretty strange... I asked her about it at the time and she was mortified and clueless as to how it got there.... I think we know, don't we? Keep up the good videos...
Good stuff Patrick! Hopefully you married her!
Did you see duffs tail going nuts? Hes ready to go pimpin in the ole Blvd. cruiser!!! Well done as always, and I thank you once again for sharing!!! Have a great day Dr mortske!!!
As usual a great way to start a Monday
I'm totally a station wagon guy. I bought a '96 Roadmaster wagon off the scale at a junkyard and put her back on the road. I fell in love with it the second I put some speed to that LT1. I even won a few races with it. Unfortunately, it seemed to attract other cars to it like a magnet( 3 people hit it in six months). It got hit in the front end the first time, and I did all the body work myself and repaired it (spent $1100), and then somebody hit the rear end six weeks later. None of the body parts for the rear were manufactured anymore, and it was going to cost me $3600 to have a new rear door fabricated for it. Three months after that, somebody smashed the front end again. Between the rear door and a bent frame from the third accident (it was off by bout a half inch), I had to let it go. I still drove it every day, but I just did not have the money to repair it. I cried over that car. Anyway, I have been in love with station wagons since then. I want to find another Roadmaster, or a Volare or Aspen wagon for my next major project.
Those roadmasters are cool! I had a Volare wagon once with a 4 speed!
@@MortskeRepair I had a '79 Volare sedan. That 225 was awesome. Those cars are faster than people give them credit for. I loved that car as much as the Roadmaster, but I couldn't find body parts for it anywhere (much like the Roadmaster). It only needed a grille, a tail light, and a couple of trim pieces, but they were impossible to find. I spent ten years looking. I did find a used grille for $800, but that didn't make sense for a $500 car, especially when it needed other things as well.
This straight 6 reminds me of my 1974 AMC Hornet
Sport-A-bout wagon with 258 straight 6 that I drove from Alaska to Texas. That motor was indestructible, got great mileage, started easy every time, and when you punched it, you were moving over 120mph !!!
No way this thing is breaking 80MPH!
I was at the iola car show this weekend and saw a whole box of flexi hoses for 10 bucks. I tried to get the guy down to a dollar because I had to cover my cost of shipping to Mortske. Needless to say I ended up walking away without those hoses 😁
Another Wagon back on the road. Nice work Mortske and crew.
I was there as well! Saw that same box! Saw several vendors selling 40 year old flexy hoses!
That’s a great looking wagon. I hope the new owner keeps it on the road. Great video.
You and me both!
Enjoyed your video series on the 60 Ranch Wagon. I hope it finds a new home and someone refurbishes it and gets it back on the road to enjoy. When I was a teenager, there were lots of compact, mid and full size family style lower model range sedans and wagons running around with only 6 cylinder motors and manual 3 speed on the tree transmissions with manual steering and manual drum brakes. It was surprising how many guys were very fond of those cars and thoroughly enjoyed driving them. They were never fast, not even sorta quick, but they loved driving them. Not everyone had nor wanted a v-8 motor. A whole lot of those cars got some real serious miles put on them and they got seriously worn out and were junked with minimal remorse.
Love the Mortske approved engine leveler! That'll come in handy when I reinsert the engine in my 81 F250.
Kroil..... It's for what ails ya. That stuff is the best, Mortske. We used it by the gallon at the power plant where I used to work. It saved us from using the fire wrench many times. Would've liked to have seen the parts of the video you didn't show when you were putting in the motor with your friends. Uncut. Entertainment at it's finest. Hey to Duff!
Yeah we had a lot of camera issues that night.
Ahh,a wee bit of a grinder, now sender home to the Krispy Kreme laddy and may the stones be flying as you take her around the donut hole lol, just love it,keep these vids coming, have a good one!!
Ah for Fords sake is the truest statement ever spoken on the Tubes!
It's the gospel according to Henry!
it was like watching a favorite forgotten rerun of Gilligan's Island! Loved it Mr. Mortske..
Hellz ya boyz!
A ferd on a Monday. Good save , a lot of work. Glad duff finally got a ride.
Awesome Roadkill situation! It's great watching that thing drive again.
Great job! Don’t complain about the work! You enjoyed every minute of it! You ain’t kidding me!
I wish I could agree with you!
Great vid..
Duff seems so happy riding in the wagon.
I've never been more confidant in my subscription here.... I actually click the like button at the start of the video !
I think the best help you got from your buds was how they deleted your refrigerated samitches !
Haha much appreciated Dan! Yes, they're good for that!
Another one back on the road! Kinda! This one brings back memories too, just like your 63 & 1/2. My second car, way back when I was younger and dumber then when I had the 63 Galaxy, was a 1960 Ford Fairlane 500. Big 352 running through a 2 speed automatic. Oh yah to make it even cooler it was a crew cab. My Dad didn’t think my first car would get me back and forth to school in Grand Rapids. So, he found this up in Moorhead, brought it home & traded it for my 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak. I’m not sure who got the better deal!
Some real gems you had!
Love the wagons!!!!
Not my favorite Ford body style. Longer wheelbase, wider and heavier than either the 59 or 61. Would'nt have thought that truck six would present so many problems, but, all's well that ends well. Be a little more patient with a three speed with no synchro in first, OUCH !
@@jeromebreeding3302 actually the 62 was on the same wheelbase and almost exactly the same length but when they took off the horizontal fins the body was narrower.
Great video, I have a 60 ford wagon, love it.
That is awesome!
I was trying to watch the engine install, but got distracted by the gun show😂💪
Bahaha the Elf despises sleeves!
It is great to see another old car running. My old truck runs great on Wednesday and I can't wait to drive it this weekend. It is an 86 Ford F150 4x4 with 6" lift.
Great to see Ginger Billie help put 👏👏👏
Haha, he's a good elf!
Oh boy! Another entertaining Mortske car video! You made my day right there, Thomas!
Great video and man you have a great collection of old cars and trucks.
That's really a trick modification the gas pedal disappearing through the floor board lol, Duff looks like he is ready to ride when you get that engine fired up.
Mortske you are an amazingly talented mechanic you keep your cool and work well under pressure. I was a tank mechanic in Vietnam and you would have fit right in.
Thanks much for your service David!
After this, Mortske is a certified tank mechanic as well ...
@@vettemaniac2237 same thing, bigger tools!
Good to see another wagon almost back on the road.
The Elf! He climbed all over that sweet wagon like he was hiding around the house at Christmas!
Bahaha he's sneaky like that!
@@MortskeRepair In my experience, crap jobs like that swap with beers are priceless memories. Real stuff with real friends
@@tripleb7351 yeah, these poor goofs wanna come do another one!
Did you join Duff Dog in what he likes. Bitin' the wind. You know, head out the window, ears flappin' slobber runnin down the side of the wagon. Great Dog. Awesome wagon.
Your the man Mortske. The only thing that stops dragging the fuel pump down the road was watching you run back to pick up the muffler that fell off that mail jeep.
That's beats not stops.
Haha it's rough driving junk!
I don't know how I missed this video, but I couldn't find one for 4/24/24
Nice!
Kroil in the ignition switch, that's a new and novel (and SUCCESSFUL!) activity.
It ain't dumb if it works!
Thanks for another Mortske Monday. You and your friends did good work. I imagine it took a 30 pack or so to get her together and fire. Take it easy🐾
I'm thinking 2 !
So close!
I’ve been waiting for a new video thank you mr mortske
what a great video
Hey mortsky. That donut was great. Nice car buy the way. Keep on going. Doing great. Good wishes
Nothing says 'life's great' like having friends with the same distorted view as you!
Afternoon Mortske. Great video as always and Duff had a playmate in this one. I really enjoy watching. Keep em coming. Thanks.
Thanks! Will do!
the neighbor we had in Lubbock had one of these. In the early 60's She would cram 9 kids in her wagon go to track meets.
We would go all over the panhandle of Texas in that thing. it had 4 - 90 ac.
Good stuff!
Nice team work. She needs a Puddin Pressure wash for sure. Some interior work and an air freshener and she'd be ready to pick up chicks.
Always a winner
Someone will like that wagon and buy it for sure 😊
Excellent video Mortske Repair :) also fun to work on old vechiles for sure and nice truck engine work on putting in old Ford car wagon! Remember years ago me also my late Cousin John put his old 1977 Chevrolet Caprice 2 door took the 250 6 cylinder motor also put 1968 Chevrolet C10 292 6 cylinder with 250 carb hook up Turbo 400 transmission 3 speed Automatic with 377 posi rear gears also single exhaust too! Car burn rubber on back tires too and ran excellent till young guy bought it and ran till blew up 292 plus transmission to not drive to it quit!
Wagons are So uncool they're COOL !
Pretty much!
Let me at that Ford! I'll twist wrenches!🤨😂
Always good stuff here. 😎
What a deal ! One wheel peel . But it runs
Can't beleive you got that to go good job mortskee looked like a death trap

Yes you do!
Lots of ranch wagon goodness!!!
Love this channel. When I'm tempted to give up on a project, I am inspired by your patience. I've learned not to throw things.
Glad to hear it!
I drove a 60 Ford Fairlane 500 with a 223 and a 2 speed air cooled FordOmatic. What a slug, I would not ever want a 223 for anything but a boat anchor. Mine was a 2 door, the same color scheme as the wagon. I had nothing but leaks from the expasion tank.
Sounds like a real gem!
Think that was bad...try a 200 hooked to slushomatic in 72 maverick....why i hate ford's to this day
Judging by Duff's nub wagging at 6500 RPM, I think he likes this rig.
mortske finally found some long lost triplets - the sammich crew - to roust him like he rousts duff - funny stuff guys. been ages since i drove a three on the tree or seen one even
