The Stars sucks of the plastic molding that is the handle does not suit the Full Tang and Wobbles within it. Furthermore the pommel at the very bottom is only held on by some form of epoxy it is a bolt tack welded onto the bottom of the full tank for reasons I don't understand he whatever strike anything but the bottom of the held it would most certainly come off. Where she at the two bolts that hold the handle grip onto the Tang Easley strip out and don't work well with just simple hand tightening to try to solve the issue of the sword moving within the great. After removing the grip I also found that the quench did not pass just underneath the guard. Also the blade as a slightly into the left about 3/4 out from the held. Is not a functional blade it should be taking on it nothing more than a toy or ornamental unusable weapon that you would not depend on in a critical moment. This is my review.

I guess esthetics are subjective. I never intended to own a katana at all. I now own 4 Ronin Katana Dojo-pros. I have one O-katana with Musashi style tsuba and a bohi, one "thunderstorm" tsuba Ko-katana, one "trapped Oni" Ko-katana with a red saya and a 30" bladed katana"trapped Oni" tsuba and red saya. I just ordered a 28" katana with a square tsuba and bohi and another 30" katana. I'm also waiting on a pair of Musashi style wakizashi with bohi. I've been surprised by the variety of blade styles. Add in tsuba design, sori, minuki, the variety of color combinations between the ray skin and the silk used to wrap the handle, etc... quite a variety. Just my opinion, though.

I get what you're saying. A katana is a beautiful sword, but in the end, the only thing that really changes the look of a katana or even a wakizashi is the hilt construction. I'm aware of the different shapes and sizes of early historic Japanese sword designs, but if you look at the sword through history, it rarely changes. Sometimes the blade is longer or the curve is more pronounced, but that's about it. The reason why I drifted away from katanas and got into Euro style is because of how different they are. A viking sword is nothing like a two-handed longsword from 400 years later. Rapiers, arming swords, longswords, kriegsmessers, falchions, broadswords, cutlasses, sabres. And that's not even getting into blade types. I'm not saying that Japanese swords or ugly or anything, just the designs become repetitive and similar. I love the diversity of European and Western swords. But like you said, it's just my opinion, too! Thanks for watching, and enjoy the rest of your day!

Get what you're saying re Katanas tend to look rather similar to untrained eye. Almost bought this one too; it's tough, fun and far preferable to the larger one. Fittings for a good Katana or Wakizashi should not come loose, but are also built to be taken apart, cleaned, and put back together.

Traditional Japanese urushi lacquer is very durable and waterproof. Nobody does that in reproductions because it's nasty shit to work with and it would probably cost more than the sword. A traditional habaki should never come loose. Modern ones are usually made in mass castings instead of forging them based on the individual sword. I definitely agree most reproductions are boring. Which doesn't really represent the diversity of the originals. If you go custom you can have something really special. Maybe throw in an antique tsuba? I gotta say, I kinda like this "Tactical Wakizashi". For a hundred bucks...

Yeah, taste in swords is really subjective. I didn't think it was poorly constructed or anything, I just didn't care much for the design. From what I've seen of their latest offerings, they're going to be a serious contender for functional economy swords.
