  • MotoMan drives the 2018 Lexus LC500 but first frames the latest flagship Lexus coupe in a personal historical context. Then, yes, he drives the 2018 Lexus LC500 V8 to demonstrate driving dynamics but more importantly, he takes the Lexus LC500 to an unexpected place to demonstrate something far more unique about the Lexus LC500 . . .

    I sat in this car at the Seattle Auto Show and it was the only car there that really stirred my soul. The closest other car was the BMW M2, but it wasn't even close.

    Just as LS 500 is a pinnacle of craftsmanship and artisanship in the luxury sedan segment, the same must be noted about LC 500.
    The LEXUS TEAM continues to produce masterpiece after masterpiece, just as heads of random individuals on the street are turned, their guesses being wrong and expressions of an utter surprise revealed.
    Yet, this is just a beginning of more to come from my beloved LEXUS TEAM. The LEXUS TEAM is far from finished, as even more excitement is on its way.

    My wife had a 2006 BMW 650 that was well loved. At 200k miles the engine died. She didn’t like the new one. And nobody else makes a dedicated v8 coupe that was heavy and GT car like unless you spend a lot more. After looking at a sea of cars nothing measured up so she compromised on a used e400 coupe she wasn’t crazy about. But the price was a steal and we should be able to make some money on the interim purchase. I just showed her this video and she is pretty jazzed to check it out. It seems somebody does in fact make a new 2006 650i...and its Lexus. And that’s the lens I think through which this has to be viewed. Most companies have gone away from making a front engine, heavy, v8 gt car in favor of lighter cars that don’t feel nearly as substantial. Lexus has a car here for which there really isn’t anything else in its class anymore. On top of all of that, through all the cars I’ve owned, nobody services a car like Lexus. Plus they tend to do a better than industry average job at catering to a female customer. My .02

    To me the LC is Lexus doing the “f#%* it let’s build the car we want and love” and it worked. Keep going with trickling down of this passion down to the IS and Lexus will beat the Germans.

    This Lexus is the result of being built with a soul.
    This Lexus rivals Aston martins. This car is basically in a class of its own for that asking price.. walking thru that parking lot really showed us a good perspective of the LC500 design. It makes every other car look dull. This car looks and is built like it's worth 150k to 200k I have said this all the time. Man on the street reaction was 100% correct. Put a German badge on it and it would cost 200k. It's a STEAL for the asking price of under 100k. It looks like a exotic car without the exotic car price or issues. None of the German cars touch this car in exterior design and interior design. Because this car has a NA V8 none of the Germans can match its driving "experience". This car is the result of being built with a soul. Lexus is following no trends with this car and that's what making it so special. LC500 is the BEST luxury coupe/drives car on the market right now.
    Long live the old school SC300/SC400... They had the same effect that this LC500 has now back then.

      @ARentz07 Před 6 lety

      I actually just saw an older red SC400 today! Did a bit of a double take actually, even though it isn't new. Disclaimer, I am somewhat of a Lexus advocate.
      I keep bugging the guys at the dealership for a test drive in the LC - maybe now that it isn't so brand-new anymore I could finesse one...

    • @preiudeh22a
      @preiudeh22a Před 6 lety

      Absolutly agree with this 100%. Nothing can touch the LC500. Best of the best on looks performance and reliability and I cant believe it isnt 150-200k plus. If Toyota used this similar look for the new Supra the fans would go nucking futs over it. Can not wait to see what the LC- F will be like since this is already hands down a solid 10 in my book.

    I thing you had a great idea to suggest they add a second "volume knob" to control the nav's menu. Something that requires zero visual input, completely tactile (turn/push) and aural as well, to guide the driver to navigate the menu solely through touch and sound. You could use sound volume (increase and decrease) to adjust functions that lend themselves to it, and even vibration on the knob itself. I'd find that very interesting.

    Well, I really don’t think it easily fits into any existing segment. It seems to be more of a throwback to the old Facel Vegas, or perhaps the vintage Jaguar e type 2+2’s.
    This, in my view, is not an Aston DB11 competitor. Folks who lean towards, and can afford a DB, would not buy this car because it’s cheaper: They’re after the brand as much as the beauty of the Aston Martin.
    The 911’s and R-8’s are truly high performance cars, even though 99% of their owners don’t/can’t drive them anywhere near their potential...
    And the Mercedes S-Coupe, though similar, comes at a much higher price tag, which somehow promotes an aura of higher exclusivity... (???)
    Understanding clearly that beauty is in the eye.., mine tells me this is a fabulous GT, at a price point that will demand recognition!
    In about 8 months when these, used, start showing up for 60-75K, I believe we’re going to see quite a few on our roads!

    You're kidding, right? A 911? A car that looks pretty much the same as it did in 1968 when that hideous body style was first manufactured? Only one of the two cars is an awesome work of art and it isn't the 911. Nobody looks at something produced by the laziest design studio in automotive history. If you're really in a quandary about which one to choose, maybe you should choose the German hammer. As for the touch pad, try taking a few minutes to program the "voice control" and then you'll never have to do anything but talk to the car, tell it what you want to do and then let the superior Lexus engineering grant your wish.

    I would like some reasonable and informed knowledge on this question. "Why is Toyota not producing or planning to produce a Toyota version of this car and call it a "SUPRA"? The last SUPRA and LC were extremely similar cars. This shape, size, and layout is just screaming Supra. They could easily make a Toyota version with an interior that is similar in fit and quality to the top of the line sport Camry Moto reviewed a while back. If the V8 would make it too expensive, are they not still producing the I6 JZ motors in their Crowns and Mark X models in Japan? This would make it cheaper and totality satisfy the purists. But instead all we hear is rumors of the creating a Supra in conjunction with BMW. Why?????? They have all the Supra they need right here???

Unfortunately, the laziest design studio ever hasn't hardly changed the body style in 50 years but if you're into antiquity and high maintenance costs, then go ahead and buy that 911. When people see you go by, they won't look at the Porsche because most everybody completely ignores them except for a few select morons who believe they are great cars. I suggest every person who reads this goes to a showroom and sits in the best 911 they can find and then goes to another showroom down the block and sits in the LC500. 95% of people who do this will wonder how anybody could prefer the German money pit over the Japanese work of art.

    This guy talks way too much! The gear selector seems too far up as if in PARK! Nice car, nevertheless.

    4,000+ pounds? Why so porky? Interesting body, but I think I'll just stick with the 911.

    I'm attracted to the exterior of the car but not the interior. Too much Alcantara for my liking, sure to look shiny and low rent within 6 months. Plus serious lack of choice of internal colours + full leather. That touch pad is definately a mistake by Lexus.

      TheMister Mann there's black, brown, caramel and white and blue colour options available. What other colour do u want? I'm sure if one asked for red interior colour it may be available since that's available also on the Ls 500. What I cat wait for is the 600 plus Hp and over 700 nm of torque rumoured to be available in future for the LCF. Want that as well in the new LS

      You are correct about the body colours, there is a wide choice. However, in Europe the internal choices are restricted to " Camel" ( as in video ) or Red. No all leather option is offered. I still stand by what I said re. the Alcantara looking low rent within 6 months.

      Seems I've touched a nerve with you and your beloved touchpad. That touchpad is universally condemned by ever car reviewer on CZcams, so I'm not alone in my opinion of it.

      Congratulations, glad you're happy with your car. I own a Mercedes S500 coupe, the daddy of all coupes. But each to their own.

      I family member has a new RX 350 and I got used to it in about 5 minutes. It's funny what people taut as their own opinions simply because some journalists said it first. If they never did, people wouldn't hate it.

    Another absolutely Hidious review & Didn't mention anything the 4- Point Limb Ripping off Lexus Hood popping up on Pedestrian Collisions. Pedestrian Killer design for sure. Law suits aplenty coming up.

      You're an idiot. The regulations called for those explosive charges in order to make the car more pedestrian collision friendly. You must live in "Opposite World".
