They compare Lexus Lc 500 with DB11 V8, which cost double. With Benz in this video which cost 50% more. These comparisons have already proved how great Lc 500 is.
Then why has no one bought the LC? It’s sold only 1/3 of its projected sales.

the LC500 starts around 102k CAD and Mercedes GT Roadster starts at 185k CAD - based on the price alone the LC500 is "bang for the buck"

My Dad has an LC500. The difference is the LC will last about 200,000 miles longer than the BMW before it really begins breaking down.

Ive owned Lexus before and my 2012 RX 350 that I bought brand new was in the shop at 20,000 km getting new rear wheel bearings, also the automatic windshield wipers would come on during a sunny day and you could not shut them off unless you pulled over and parked and then started the car again, also my rear tailgate had to be replaced because of rust after it was 2 years old... I have owned 15 toyotas including pickups, supras, celicas, one tercel way way back, so Im well versed with the brand, I had back luck with my RX but doesnt mean they are all like that. My 2018 SL63 has been great, and I have put 15k on it this summer... no issues except for the rear continentals that I melted off at 12k : ) but that was just fun !!

I'm way behind the curve here but I got my first Lexus just 2 weeks ago, 2002 GS430 with 97500 miles on it. Never drove a Lexus before, but after reading about them, I decided to give them a try. Not disappointed at all!!! Let's just say that I'm ready for a F car.

@@CaptainMav You know it, LOL!!! I should have been buying these long ago. I did the 90,000 mile timing belt and water pump service on it, V8, was pretty simple, not difficult at all. Replaced the radiator while I was at it as well. Runs and rides great!
Funny. A lot of people have no taste in design. Lexus IS garbage. They don’t stand behind their products and they are no more reliable than Mercedes today. I speak from experience. I’m NEVER buying Lexus or Toyota again.

While the Benz does look cool the Lexus looks like a spaceship.. like nothing else on the road. Where the Benz has a more traditional design. I also think the Lexus engine sounds better also it doesn’t need a exhaust open button lol.

You know that Lexus "MADE IN JAPAN" that are sold in Japan is more expensive than ones in the U.S. (they are also made in Japan). LC500 is starting from $150k in Japan. This is most likely because to compete price of German cars in Japan to keep the image of luxury brand, and not just an alternative.
I am loving the lexus . They cost less but at the same time the quality is on par with the bmws and the mercedes . Its amazing . Plus its a toyota so its reliable as well . Even it look good as well .

If you buy a German car you should buy two that way you can rotate them in the repair shop when one breaks down drive the other one and continue the cycle💸🔧🔧💰

From experience, they will give you a courtesy vehicle, which will be the latest model with all the options ticked, then put high pressure sales tactics on you to try and get you to trade up, because the inconvenience of having to bring your car in for repairs isn't enough without some irritating salesman in your face to compound it further.

Thomas Ferrugia consumer reports gather tons of information about both brands. Lexus it at the top and mercedes is at the bottom. Its not assumed, its a fact. Lexus vehicles spend less time in the shop.

Lexus keeping that naturally aspirated V8 is great. It gives the good old V8 sound and grunt. They should keep doing the NA V8 until well some regulations come up and ban.

That doesn't necessarily make that a bad car. I'm all ok with Lexus being an offspring of Toyota, as long as they make great cars.
Owned SC430. With 4.3LNA, the engine feeling was wonderfully light and it was possible to interact with the engine. The feeling was in common with the 1993 V12 SL 6.0LNA. LC 5.0LNA is the evolution system. Mercedes downsizing with turbo is effective but lacks sophistication. The LC500 is a true sports GT with a perfect design and a distinction from high-power downsizing.
Lexus, cause it's from Toyota and it's got an impeccable reliability record. Statisically speaking, the AMG will have issues of quality control and reliablity, as do most Mercedes Benz Products. You'll more than likely spend more time driving a loaner car from Benz and will become accustomed to the phrase, " I have an AMG, but It's in the dealers for repairs". We want to drive the cars, not have them break down every few weeks, especially not when it's 6 figures.

Because when you pay that much money, the damn car better start and perform as advertised, promised and paid for. A 6 figure sticker window should get us a car that will run reliably with well though out design. Don't take my word for it. Look at the depreciation value on a Mercedes vs Lexus. 20 year old Toyota Landcruises and Lexus from 90's with the v8 are still running and some even have their motors put into other vehicles made to run another few hundred 100k.

It's going to be desiarable on the used market when everyone has 1.0l turbo supercharged hybrids. Doesnt mean itll be worth its msrp, but itll be more valuable than a similar msrp merc. For 100k most buyers will go for a Porsche or a Merc or BMW or anything more prestigious. KIA made the K900 and its glorious but no one wanted a baby S Class in Kia badging. Check me in 8 years. As someone who has owned a Lexus SC430 and owns an AMG SLS, I gotta give credit where credit is due. Lexus has upped their game with this LC. They need to make a LC-F model with a tighter geared sportier transmission, V8 with the hybrid system and better tech. When this hits the used car market in 3 years, it is going to be a SWEET car to get. That AMG though! Any car that can make a grown man giggle like a 6th grade school girl is AWESOME! Nice review.

Revving the LC cold in the video (not fully warmed up) proves that the adjustable red line is not just a suggestion, as you can see it won't let the revs above 6k rpm vs 7.3k when fully warmed. The lowest I've seen on a cold garage start is 3.5k rpm, but it quickly goes to 5k rpm.
Lets see, spend $100K and you can just go trick or treating in your car instead of dressing up as something scary. Or spend $150K to make friends with the entire MB service dept. I'll take the Lexus and spend the money saved on a new grill.
Did you just say a Lexus is more unreliable? Have you ever owned ANY of these type of cars? I've had friends and family buy BMWs Mercedes and many other Luxury cars and they have ALL had engine issues within the first few months. My father has owned a Lexus and i have owned a Toyota And my car has been reliable for 10+ years and he's had 2 different Lexus cars that NEVER had any issues one is an 07' and the other is a 13' and all the people i have mentioned take care of their vehicles bringing them in for all required services when needed. And also i love the cars BMW and Mercedes + all the other cars these manufactures make but saying they're more reliable then a Lexus or Toyota is just a dumb statement.
If your neighborhood streets are an exact replica of a le mans track, and you have the ability to pilot a race car at the edge of the performance limits, and you can afford your own service crew to rebuild the engines every weekend, then obviously, the MB is the better choice for you.
And a few years in, that very well engineered planned obsolescence will be an absolute delight.

I would love to see a head to head between the Lexus LC500 hybrid and the BMW i8. Both are hybrids and their specs are close enough for a match. However The i8 starting pice is little higher.
The way he was laughing and smiling at 4:33 just exemplifies how much fun AMG cars are. Especially that model... It's just a beast!!! I feel like it's more of the athletic car and the Lexus is more of the ballerina car as he mentioned. I'd def buy the Lex for my girl but I would take the AMG any day of the week!!! They are the engineers that really set the bar in performance AND in technology. History really speaks for itself here

I have a lexus ES 350 and it has run so good that I just go in for oil changes and tire rotations every 5 months. That's it. Oh, don't forget to fill up the gas tank. :)
I have a red lc500 and parked next to an amg gt one time. I must say the gt looks alot wider than in pics. Having owned several amgs I know these cars are fast and loud. But handling were never their strong points.
The AMG gt is a fun weekend cruiser but are not reliable if you plan on driving it on a daily basis. The lc500 on the other hand is the perfect daily driver.
Looks wise the lc500 is much more stylish and interesting. But you can't go wrong with either cars.

German car NO good. My 08 e300 break break break. I got brok. Lost so much money to repair e300. The repair Cast more then the car. German cars don't MADE right. German cars are nightmare.

I was recently in the market to buy a car and, no joke, the gla amg I was test driving had the 'check engine' light go off. Then I test drove a Lexus NX and preferred everything about it. Wasn't a lexus fan before but instantly became one after. I bought the Lexus.
Between these two cars in this video I'd go for the Lexus. Looks better inside and out.

You do understand that you would have a warranty when buying this car right? It’s not that common for Mercedes to break down as much as people think. On top of that, Mercedes gives you free maintenance services when buying the car, not Lexus, and when you bring your Mercedes in for service, they’ll always give you a badass ride to use while your car is getting serviced. No brained to me. Mercedes all day!
Thomas Ferrugia it depends what Mercedes you drive and how you drive it. Mercedes as a whole is very costly to maintain, which is why many people steer away from them. I have one myself and it's great. I have not spent a dollar on it besides oil changes. Then again, a friend of mine has the same car and had to replace 5 parts in 2 months and know has engine rod knock. Keep in mind, we drive the same car, same year and even similar mileage.
Well, you won't be taking either one. Let's be real, you couldn't afford to maintain these cars if someone gave them to you for free. Lmao. Besides that, the Mercedes has the potential to last just as long as the Lexus. Sure, Mercedes may be expensive to maintain but it's worth every damn penny.

Really like this channel. I'd like it even more if they tested older models more--cool cars that I might purchase used. As well, the FL test track seems kind of wonky. But all in all, I really like how Roman and his crew go about their business. Plus I love the fact that they're really into Hellcats of all shapes and sizes. That keep me coming back.
For these two cars, think Lexus absolutely nailed this design. Polarizing I know but so modern, so different. Really beautiful. I think it's the best design on the road today. Plus it's totally original. Nothing else like it out there. Of course it's not the performer the Benz is but that's not its segment, as Roman says. MB makes crazy capable cars but design wise, I think they're kind of stuck-much like BMW and Audi to a lesser extent. I haven't liked their design since the early 2000s and the R230 series. But they've never really been beautiful cars. I've owned two and it wasn't because of the looks.
The Lexus on the other hand, WOW! So artful inside and out. I'm a C7 Stingray owner and absolutely love it, but this car I'd buy in a second if I wasn't looking down the barrel of two college tuitions.

Jason Kammisa compared it with the Austin martins, Throttle house compared it to Bentley, other CZcamsrs compared it to all sorts of luxury coupes and still came out with the remark that the LC500 is like no other luxury coupe

Sorry, but no! Having grown up with American muscle cars of the late 1960s, the Lexus LC500 sounds like a kitten compared to the 'lions' that I knew, like my buddy had a 19569 Ford Mustang Mach 1 fastback with a 390 cu inch V8 with 4 speed manual clutch, magnum wheels, 4 barrel carburetor and this bay was fantastic. Other guys had the 400 cu inch Dodge Charger. Go watch the movie Bullitt and see and hear what I am talking about!

While the MB is getting towed to the dealership with electronic issues, the Lexus will be cruising comfortably for 250,000+ miles. I prefer a car that stays in my driveway and not in the mechanic’s shop...
