In this review I got the chance to go over my favorite features of this flagship Lexus coupe. The LC500 has a powerful 5.0 liter naturally aspirated engine, a delightful ride and handling, and an exhaust note that is always fun to hear. I bought a used one from Canada performance package fully loaded just like yours infrared but with the black interior. It’s currently on a ship on its way to me... can’t wait. The only problem I’m worrying about is that I’m paraplegic and this car is a bit low to the ground. I’m currently driving an IS convertible, and the LC is like 2 inches lower.

@goodfella21f For my tastes, it's a perfect balance between performance, extremely high manufacturing quality inside and out, exotic car looks, comfort and features. Having owned a 2015 Carrera 4S and 2017 Aston Martin Vantage S among other cars, this one is better suited for the varying road surfaces (that can get ugly all too often). The 4S had a very harsh ride, better suited for the track. The AM was altogether a lesser car than the LC in every measurable way, absolutely not worth the premium in price.

Meaning that you don’t understand sports cars. Who on earth puts a base Panamera 4 into any equation regarding legitimate sports cars or GT cars? It’s the slowest Porsche of the modern age. Anyone who knows sports cars knows this. Secondly the Panamera is a SEDAN not a sports coupe!

This is not about anything with a Porsche badge! It’s about sports car/ GT cars! It’s not about your terribly underpowered family sedan with a Porsche badge.

Living in the S.F. Bay Area and a state where potholes in the road are like a badge of honor, I opted for the 20" wheels instead of the short life span 21" version. If I only drove in my driveway, the 21" wheels would have been my first choice but since using the public roads is something that is necessary, visiting my local wheel repair shop every other day didn't seem like a smart move. I already hit a mega pothole and got worried so I took the car to the dealer. Fortunately, no damage anywhere. With the "clunk" it made hitting that hole, I know for sure the 21" wheels would have been totaled. As for the infotainment touch pad, it isn't bad at all because the car does have VOICE COMMAND. Learning how to use properly either gets the job done or gets you to the screen where all you have to do is make one click. Spend time running the "SETUP" if you buy the car and 95% of your preferences will be done so you'll rarely have to use the touchpad. This car is under priced. No doubt about it. It is an awesome machine in every way. The best part is....it's a Lexus, not a BMW, M-B, Aston-Martin, Ferrari etc. so you will spend 99.99% of your time driving a car that works and is very, very reliable. Inferior manufactured parts won't need replacing like those other cars because Lexus doesn't make anything that is inferior. All you have to do is do what is expected and follow the service recommendations and this car will be the best car you've ever owned. I love my InfraRed 2018 with the Toasted Caramel interior and now it even has Apple Car Play which the dealer installed for $200. Go drive one of these and you will fall in love. Inside, outside, under the hood....it is gorgeous.

Just sold my 2018 Lexus LC500 Performance Pack. Bought it back in late 2017, and paid full MSRP $106K and put around $45K of mods into it over a few years. Entered it into a few car shows and won "hottest luxury ride" back in 2018. My LC's exhaust, engine, intakes and paddles were recorded by a renowned sound studio for a few Lexus commercials as well as some video games that would later feature the LC500 in them. My LC500 was featured on Lexus USA's Instagram page a few times as well as Road & Track Magazine. I enjoyed the car but longed for more performance from it. Upon taking my LC500 to the track a few times I had the chance to weigh it on the scales. The LC was 4,465 lbs with me (185lb driver) in the car and my best 1/4 mile time in it was 13.1@113. I realize that the LC500 was not built for drag racing however, the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times even with a few mods were disappointing. In the 3 years I owned the car there were no tunes offered by any company, and one company designed a super charger kit however, the kit remains useless as it requires a flash tune of the ECU to run it. Lexus has a serious encryption on their OTA ECU which makes it very difficult to crack. Adding simple bolt on like intakes, headers, and exhaust made the LC sound amazing but did however cause the car to lose it's low end torque making it very sluggish off the line. It added a bit more power in the higher rpm range but nothing to boast about. With a car weighing a staggering 4,465 lbs and only barely putting down 400whp with nearly every bolt on available was discouraging.
I knew I had a special car that was rare and exclusive during the honeymoon phase but finally came to the realization that no matter what I did to it, it would always be a heavy pig with lipstick. Initially it was praised at car shows and car meets late 2017 and early 2018 but lost it's luster once word got around the campfire about it's weak performance numbers and weight. To make matters worse, the LC500 began to plummet in value due to the lack of performance, weight and the inability to tune the car as well. Most Lexus customers are generally older more conservative types who have been loyal to the brand since their inception. These type of people have no interest in modding their cars and a very hard pressed to spend $100K on a car. So when the used values sank to around $75K is where most jumped on board for this car. Even as I write this today 2018 LC500 with under 25K miles are going for around high 60's now and at auction they are going for around low 50's.
I had to make a decision and quick. Stay in the LC and keep taking more depreciation or get out and take my losses. I opted to take my losses and traded mine in. It's a decision that I'm quite thankful I made. I ended up replacing my LC500 and my 2020 Supra with a second gen NSX and a brand new lifted 4 runner and could not be happier about my choice. Would I ever come back to Lexus when the LC-F comes out was a question asked of me. I stated probably not. Lexus a great brand for luxury but not for performance, and I desire those track numbers and speed of a well built car. Even the LFA by today's standards isn't even in the performance game despite it's 550hp rating.
If you want a great reliable GT car and aren't concerned about track times or 0-60 time with a unique look I would highly recommend buying an LC500. My suggestion is to leave it 100% stock DO NOT MOD IT! Secondly, the used market has exceptional deals at this time. I would recommend to buy a 1 year old model with low miles and pay no more than around $65K as that's what the car is really worth in my honest opinion. You can visit my page to see my late LC500 it was a pretty impressive build.
    Cheers!

Thanks for the review on this car, currently considering one among a few others. Definitely agree, this is a GT car, not really considered a sports car, I am keeping that in mind. 4.4 seconds to 60 isn't necessarily slow for a GT car, but in this day and age, would be considered a little slow for a sports car. Ironically, it's about as fast as my 2012 Audi R8 was. I personally love the concept-car looks of these and with a decent set of aftermarket wheels (with the proper offset), they are fire! I love the fact that they are still made in Japan at the same factory that the LFA was once made. Can never go wrong with Toyota/Lexus reliability, so if you find one with 20-30k miles on it now ($60-70k), it would not even be a concern (where as this could be an issue with some other German/English vehicles). Depreciation has been a bit more for a typical Lexus, but all the more better for a shopper these days. I don't see them dropping too much more and may have leveled out. Lastly, I love the fact they aren't a dime a dozen on the road, rather minuscule I know, but something I enjoy when pulling up to car meets/drives.

Nice review. Been watching several other LC videos & nice car. Sadly, the interior doesn’t seem to hold up as well as the LS quality - many users complain of side bolsters with premature wearing after only a few thousand miles. I saw similar evidence on a one year old LC w 7k miles. Given how few of these are made I fear replacing parts will be quite expensive - ie front windshield being $2k for OEM.

2022 here, i ordered it and bought it new. Coupe w/ DHP IR/TC i ordered everything and if you do order this be careful. Dont make my mistake. The first two packages include the heated steering wheel. But if you get the last most expensive pack the DHP that heated wheel falls OUT of the packages forcing you to then ADD it back in. And trust me for 250 i would have. So my car has EVERYTHING but the heated wheel so i wear some nice driving gloves. Eh. Its my absolute favorite thing i have ever owned. I beat up scat packs, gts, ss, f types, golf rs, wrx, type r, just last week i made a last gen z06 sweat hanging on to his ass like stink. I can best a base 911, what more do you want? But for 20 they started to improve the dampners and ride quality. And boy did they. Consequently they have updated the suspension each year ever since w/ the 22 w/ those same wheels you comment on to be as lusious as... well a caddi. Its actually that good. Still has the edge when tossed into sport so the delta on the ride is much wider now.

  • @louislazarus9253

It all comes down to how much money and time you want to spend at the dealership getting the car repaired. The Lexus is at the top of the reliability chain. German and British cars are not even close. As for the negatives on this car, there aren't any if you bother to do your homework. Buy the 20" wheels and you solve the problem of rough ride and wheel damage due to potholes. The handling difference is negligible. Read the "Owner's Manual" and set your own Preferences in the Setup portion of the infotainment software. That way you won't ever need to worry about the seats being too hot or cold. However, if you want to change anything while driving, VOICE COMMANDS more often than not will work just fine. Tell the car you're too hot and the car will cool itself down. You just have to learn the procedures. I've owned my LC 500 for just over a year now and honestly it is the best car on the market because of the value per dollar spent. I give it an A+ in every single category. Having researched which car to buy for almost two years, this one ....for me....was the best and easiest choice. The car looks really nice in the video but in person, it will knock your socks off. Sit in it. Drive it. Park it. You will be sold.

    Good review but some mistakes:
    1) LX 570 is slightly more expensive ...
    2) Corvette Grand Sport, Mustang GT with performance package, Miata and 86 better sports cars with better road feel ...
    3) ? 3D backup camera ... not necessary
    4) Finicky but accurate touch pad ...
    5) Jaguar F type, MB GT AMG and Porsche 911 ... all 10's thousands MORE expensive ... F type worst depreciation with poor quality ... 911 is MUCH stiffer and cannot be used as a GT
Proper GT cruisers are the Aston Martin DB 11 or Vantage, BMW M6, MB CLS & S class and GT ...

Then notice the door ends on the jag/Plastic, the door sills aluminum, and some nasty looking screws. The LC gets some beautiful bolts w/ lexus stamped in them, the door cards are covered in leather as is everything else, even the seat bottoms the door sill is carbon fiber. Then you drive the two. Smell the two, they both sound good but honestly id never. I test drove the 911 too and was impressed but the LC is more special, and im a driver, i track motos, i know speed well and i can do everything the 911 can do. I know cause i did it. Lexus sales goals are not released publicly? You know the numbers? Depreciation within the Lexus brand is far below industry standard. This car takes a hit within the 1st 2 years just like the rest. The model is not old enough to make any claims past that. History indicates Lexus vehicles hold value after 5 years better than all brands across in SUV and Mid size luxury segments. The LC500 after 5 years is a great bet for reliability and cost of ownership costs being minimal. Those reasons and others will only make the car lose less value than others within this segment. One must remember that this car competes with cars 15k to 40k more expensive as well. A value leader to start with makes it a far better choice.
