Lexus LC500 - Hands down the best drivers car combination with luxury coupe on the market.
The competitor to this would be the Aston Martin. That interior is ahead of Audi BMW and BMW interiors. A design, build quality and driving experience you do not get from from the Germans being this is a high revv V8. Then you factor in neck breaking looks with Lexus reliable and this car just make sense.
The first review where the difference of enigne cycles is talked about...an amazing technical feat that is never reported on.
I would say this car competes with the Aston Martin Vantage on the high end.

This interior looks amazing to me. If they made a fast sporty version I would take its NA engine over the new Aston Martin Vantage.
But it is the Japanese version of an Aston V8 Vantage, haha. So not sure what you really want.

Hi MotoMan, if I remember correctly. LC500 is released earlier than the new LS500. For the interior, shall it be LS500 adopt from LC instead of what you said some interior in LC500 adopt from LS?
BMW 650I M Sport Coupe, but these often come with all wheel drive. The other is MB E 450/500 Sport Coupe.

Not to be a Debby Downer but this segment (along with exotics) are growing because most of the wealth since the crash of 2008 is going to the top percentile of the population. At least we get to see all these cool machines and you get to experience them :)
This is the best looking coupe on the market to date.
I feel like this is literally the best interior design on the market right now on anything short of a multi-million dollar super car, and even in that case it holds up.
I have to echo some of the others. I'm not a fan of the exterior design. It's just awkward and overwrought to my eyes. Nice interior though. Are all of the buttons metallic or plastic?

You're the only reviewer who mentioned that the car runs both Otto and Atkinson cycles....i.e. should give great highway FE... Atkinson cycles are always on Hybrid cars for best

I think its a more reliable and technologically savvy albeit a less aggressive sounding AM DB11 competitor costing a little less than half the price

Id rather have the NSX. But admittedly if i was going more luxury which this car caters to id jump ship to the LC. I remember these two being pitted together in the 90s. The 90's are BACK BABEEEE!!!!
The last DB11 w/V8 would compete with this car. I love the brown interior of this and the DB 11! My choice, from just these reviews would be with the DB11 still.

I think that it's natural competitor is the Maserati Gran Turismo.
It kind of resembles a Hummer H1 Alpha, the one from 2005.

The first competitor that came to mind was the Mercedes Benz S Class coupe.
I can't think of any other luxury grand tourers in that price range. The Aston Martin DB11 and Bentley Continental are far more expensive.
Those are the exact two I'm comparing as well. It's almost the perfect design execution of tried and true Germanic v. concept car Japanese. Hard call until you factor in assumptive depreciation and reliability costs.
Maserati Gran Turismo, let's see a comparison.
It's always standing in the garage for repairs.
bentley continental GT type cars
Beautiful car. I would say it competes with the BMW 6, Mercedes SL maybe S coupe too but nothing else is in this class unless I’m missing something. I’ve purposely excluded cars at the $150k plus price point.
Yong Dong both German car makers offer 2018 models. I can’t speak beyond that. But I do know the SL is iconic and has a huge following discontinuing it would appear to be a mistake.
This car will sell like hot cakes.
I think they made this car look too similar to the RC which is a fraction of the cost.....its too bad

Good Morning, The Lexus was created to compete with and in the same vane as the new BMW 8 series, the Mercedes S coupe and dare I say the Aston V. However if the new Genesis coupe emerges as anything like the Vision G concept you reviewed last year, it will have some competition.

hellopuppy00., the Vision G concept from last year is beautiful, especially if Hyundai corp, twin turbos their tau V8, instead of the new 3.1 L v6.
it has none. they are either way off in price or performance. if forced i would say mercedes v6 sl and the hybrid lc with the nsx but thats a huge stretch.

Motoman - I could not disagree more with your assessment of the interior. It is hiteous. The caramel color clashes with the butterscotch, which doesn't go with the camel. It lacks cohesiveness. The suade door panels, look like they are wrinkled because they have no stitching. The black in the steering wheel column looks like they didn't have time to get matching plastic or they couldn't find yet another shade of carmel so they got the column from the black car that didn't work. They need to talk to the people at Ferrari and see how they integrate that color throughout the cabin without making it look blotchy.
It's a GT tourer, with the weight of a SUV...
I have this car , but with blue paint, same interior . The glare of the tan dash on sunny days is horrible, you also get the same glare from the door panels. Lexus should have done a black dash top, then tan lower, they also should have done 2-tone black on door inserts and seats to break up all the tan EVERYWHERE. , Same goes with the red interior it's just way way too much. Also the infotainment system is just as bad as Land Rover/Jaguar's software. Lexus needs to do something about their software it's JUNK and a complete driver distraction when changing media, maps, etc etc . I really like the car, but it needs more work. Glad I leased it for only 2 years, not sure it's a long term relationship. I will say service & customer service has been as good as Porsche , zero complaints about post-purchase issues. they've taken care of everything without a question or out-of-pocket expense.
RTP is multimedia really that bad ? Plus I’ve heard that it locks you out of changing radio stations or tampering with navigation once when it’s on move so the driver wont get distracted (however it may sound ridiculous)
you can move between presets. Anything out of the presets, you must stop and change to a non-preset channel. Same with GPS, it's it's not a previous destination , pull over , to a dead stop and edit or change. I've had kia rental cars that have had apple car play and better & more intuitive infotainment system/software
RTP oh at least the presets makes a little more sense however the way that GPS is designed sounds rly impractical
it's because they make you try and use that stupid track mouse and touchpad.It's horrible to use while barring down the highway at 70++++mph. Someone had their head up their lower backside when they came up with the interior color scheme & infotainment system & software. Everything else is very well thought out. I would like the glass roof to at least vent , or even better open up. but I guess I can't have it all. As I said it's only going to be around for 2 years.

You got me loving a door handle! I think this car is a Merc SL or CLS competitor maybe 8 series or cheaper Astons. But not a Caymen nobody wanting a caymen would take this fat sloppily handling thing. Its just not sharp enough.
Why anyone would take a toyota over an aston or a merc is beyond me. It doesn't have the badge, the value retention Or the heritage needed. Even if its a better car this will just be heavily discounted and the best car on the lease car rental options list they give to directors and upper management.
why do Japanese companies try to do Luxurious cars?? stick to GTR types and give up on competing equally with european quality.
