Legally is almost impossible to get a gun here, but in the streets with some contacts we can get a cano/peça (handgun) easily. The assault rifles is common in Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro is kinda fucked up, they have like 2 big factions, milicia and the state fighting against eachother for power); where i live for example, ive never seen an assault rifle in my hood, and geez, i expect to stay like this. Let me try to explain it... this movie is based on about Organized Crime in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil... is called "Facções", it's like a mafia, they rule favelas and controlling all drugs traffic.The main guy is common called "Soldado do Morro".. and they're soldiers serving the crime. In 7:08 when he says "red heart" is a reference about Comando Vermelho the most giant mafia in south america. In Brazil since 2004 buy a gun is very hard, laws are made to be hard, so just organized crime has easy access because involves the corrupted system.

Yo I think that thing in the kid's back in the beginning is a firework, the crime uses kid's with fireworks to Tell the others that the police is coming.
