How much does it cost each time we try to cool our home for summer? Air conditioner? Refrigerator? Electric fans? Does Inverter type appliances help?

Kryz is so amazing. She grew up in one of the most richest family here in Cebu, so I thought she can't live without aircon. I thought she'll turn on the aircon wherever she goes. But upon learning that she actually tend to use a fan more than aircon because she don't want to spend surprise me. Wow, so humble. She really knows how to value money. - 7.83 pesos lang ang per kWh dito sa Baguio

    - Sa lamig ng panahon, di na kami nag-aaircon or electric fan so mas mura ang electric bill HAHAHA

Informative video. One alternative for us who don’t have the Omni or the clamp meter is to get the wattage of the appliance then multiply by number of hours used which gives you the Watt-hour; then convert to kilowatt-hours by dividing the product by 1000. Multiply the kWh to the price per kWh (between 8.50 to 10.50 in NCR depending on the type of the power plants dispatched) to get your expected cost to operate. Excel spreadsheet of the preceding would be handy especially if you closely or regularly monitor consumption. Bottomline: avoid bill shock! Cheers!

I don't see ceiling fans in your house. They do really help circulating the cool air from the aircon around the room and the whole room will have uniform cooling around. On a cool day, the ceiling fan makes a difference in your decision to turn on the aircon or not. Having lots of plants, like bamboo trees seems to "cool" the air around, maybe it's the green that absorbs the sun's energy. I know Cebu, most of the year it's pretty muggy and hot, these things might help.

Saamin kasi 24/7 halos nakabukas yung AC na inverter and parang nasa 600 to 1k lang ang nadagdag

this is my issue with "beautiful" houses - not properly planned in terms of energy efficiency. the priority is aesthetics and we rely heavily on the use of aircon units to cool our homes specially during summer. scary when there's no electricity (specially when you have a baby at home) unless you have solar panels. we live in a tropical country - we have hot and wet seasons. i became aware of efficient home designs after we bought our house. i do not like the design of the developer. obviously, aesthetics was the priority. there are so many things i would like to change. i live in an area where it's windy. i had to place windows on the side of the house where the wind was coming from. it allows the wind to enter the house and sort of circulates the air inside the house.

Not to bash or what, but I guess the real tip in lowering your electric consumption especially during summer is to design your house in response to climate. We are in a tropical country and so tropical design should be applied in designing houses in the Philippines. Full glass walls are perfect if you live in areas that doesn't receive much sun, if you can recall the Cullen's house in twilight movie, their house is in full glass since they live in a place where there is not much sunlight (given that they are vampires too). But going back, it is really not ideal to use full glass in our country. It allows heat to enter but there is not much ventilation in able to get the heat out of the house.
Passive cooling is another response to lessen electric consumption, you can still achieve the cool breeze even during summer as long as your windows and rooms are properly oriented.

Hi, I've been binge watching your videos ever since I discovered this channel and and I really like the way you explain everything. May I request for your next topic, if u could cover the difference between different types of aircondition esp the pros and cons also if it is cost efficient to have central airconditioning it would be really helpful. Thanks

Let's analyze the data for some clarifications for the electric fans. The bigger(expensive) electric fan consumes less power than the small(common) electric fan.
Using some conversion the x*10pesoskwh=0.60pesos we will get it based on the data given by the device and Engr. Slater stated @3:04,
then we will get 0.06kwh of usage of that big electric fan to get its wattage per hr just simply multiply it by 1000(kwh to wattage conversion) then you can get 60watts. Using reverse engineering 60 watts*8hr=480watts/day of consumption then simply divide 480 by 1000 to get its kW as basis for the 10pesos/kWhr then crossing out the values you can get the 4.8pesos/day usage of the big electric fan, Engr. Slater just simply round it to 5 pesos. Then using these formulas using the 65 watts of our common electric fan @3:53, so 65*8=520wattage/day, then divide it by 1000=0.52kw/day so simply multiply it again by the average consumption cost of 10pesos/kw=5.2pesos per 8 hr of usage(day consumption). Even though the result of manual computation is far compared to the computation of the device(for some other reasons), I think it is important to look for the wattage of the device before purchasing it. This explanation is not intended to flex those formulas but only for those people who is curious of why the common electric fan costs more than the expensive one, this also helps people that will rent a house that has submeters to liquidate your monthly electrical bill(I used this before during our tenure in boarding house in sampaloc for board exam).
P.S. I hope Engr. Slater will pin this comment for those people that would benefit from this.

We use the same brand of aircon. Malaki matitipid pag inverter ang gamit mo especially sa aircon. We only pay less than 1k every month sa electricity. Maski yung CENPELCO di matanggap na mababa bill namin kasi may aircon kmi.😂 pero it's for real. Mahal ang inverter pero sulit talga guys.

Large-ish chest freezers are way cheaper than ordinary standing door freezers due to the fact that chest freezers retain their cool air when opened and standing door freezers' cold air goes out when opened. I wonder if this is true. There was a chest freezer just to the side of the service area fridge, part 2 hopefully?
