    Sweet review. I have both the QC 35 II and NC 700’s. When I first got the NC700’s and compared it to my QC35 II’s I felt that it was missing the deeper 0-50hz frequency range for that thumping bass. I thought I was going crazy. The treble on the 700’s also felt more muted and dull. It’s like they sucked the life out of the sound signature with the new NC700’s. Thank you for your detailed tests to confirm that my ears were not tricking me. It’s going to be a tough decision because the NC700’s seem more reliable in switching between two sources. But for the comfort and sound quality, I may decide to stick with my QC35II’s!

    Brilliant review - I like the details covered. Keep up the good work! I have never owned an active noise canceling headphone before, so this video was very helpful. I have decided to purchase the 700 since I make a lot of calls and would like to use the headphones for a hands-free experience. The superior microphone tipped the scales for me.

Comfort is quite important to me, and the 35s feel better on the head also i prefer the design of the QC 35s over the Nc 700 (not a fan of the touch gestures) somethings are better the old way. • @bajacore
    @bajacore Před 4 lety +2

    I’ve listened to both side-by-side and all the reviews so far have been spot on.
    The 700s have a slightly brighter sound-wise, but don’t blow the QC35IIs away by any stretch. The EQ upgrade in the app could easily bring the QCs to similar clarity to the 700s.
    The QC35IIs were more comfortable and had less pinching around the jaw. They’re also lighter, which I feel adds to the comfortability factor.
    In the end, it really comes down to which one looks better and feels better in hand and on the head. Otherwise, they’re equal in almost every category.
    At a current price of $299 USD for the QC35s, it’s hard to justify the small jump in performance to the 700s.

    thanks for the review. I'm upgrading to the 700 from the qc35ii specifically because of the better microphone. working from home with kids gives me alot of ambient noises that have created problems while on calls, I'm hoping that the better cancellation in the mic will make it a little less annoying.
    *I wish there was a comment on the switching of codecs when listening to the AG-Hands Free Audio, when the mic kicks in, the audio quality drops dramatically and you can only use this very poor quality state when using the microphone. they go from high end excellent audio to terrible dollar store sounding headphones when speaking.
    Do ALL the others do this same thing when using the mic? Please let me know

    I like how you compare the sound of these headphones.
    I've a suggestion, it would be nice to see in your tests square wave response to see how strong the driver is (edit : a step response would be also great), impulse response to see how fast the driver is to return to its initial state and cumulative spectral decay to see the inertia of the driver over the frequency response. With these tests, we can better judge the quality of drivers, acoustic quality of designs and see the justification of the price.

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for the suggestions. Most of these were already on our ideas list for a future testbench update, but your comment shows our users are interested by these kinds of tests. We're not too sure when we'll be able to add them, or how best to implement these test on our website and videos. However, if you have any suggestions, or ideas on how to best represent this data, let us know, we always welcome feedback.

    • @freestalkerdotfr6391
      @freestalkerdotfr6391 Před 4 lety +1

      @@RTINGSdotcom In fact for the CSD, you can put a waterfall graphic and under this, you can add a spectrogram. I saw graphs on a website where there is a DeltaCSD, it's a great idea because it takes the frequency response of the headphone and set it to the target. Then it compensate the datas and you can see resonances in the frequency response to explain why even if one headphone is equalized, the sound will be off in certain frequencies.
      So for CSDs, first graph, the Waterfall, then the DeltaCSD and under it you can add the spectrogram. You can name this section "Driver frequency response over the time performances".
      As for the impulse response, you can put the original impulse in black then the left impulse result would be blue and the right, red.
      The step response can be represented as the impulse response. You can add squares waves to this section as they are a succession of steps responses but it can help the user to have a sort of zoom of the beginning of the step response.
      For these tests, you need to compensate the frequency response to delete peaks and hills of your dummy head transfer curve in order to remove its influence.
      Another suggestion. Its about the compensation curve of the In-ear monitors. In fact, when you measure an over the ear headphone with a flat measurement mic, it hasn't to be compensated because there is no ear to modulate the sound so you see the frequency response as you already compensate it. But if you measure an in-ear monitor with this same mic, there is a hill in the 3000 Hz zone. It's due to the fact manufacturers bypass the ear resonances and they need to amplify frequencies to mimic them. The main problem is that if you compensate with your dummy head's transfer function, it will fit to the ear of your dummy head but not to all ears. So you should use a general compensation curve. I hope you see my point here.

    @alissayasukawa2496 Před 4 lety +1

    Hello!
    Something I would like to see in that kind of review is how it resists to time.
    I have a Bose QC35 for 1 year and half now, and I always ise it with great care.
    It has less scratches as yours.
    BUT: although I use it with great care, the ear cushions are exploded. Both sides.
    I can't believe it's such a cheap design. I have an Audiotechnica (regular,
    wired) I bought in the early 2000s, with wooden cups. It's still exactly the
    same as it used to be when I bought it. It was about 400 usd at that time,
    but it was really well built.
    So if you want to be fair, you may want ot add the price of cushion replacements
    every year or so. I'm close to 2 years, and not using it everyday, so I suppose
    they would get worn very quickly for more regular users.
    If you want, I can send you pictures of my Bose 35, which might add another
    argument for choice.

    I am using bose qc35ii from last one year. I have recently upgraded to bose 700.
    The bass in 700s is almost negligible as compared to Bose QC 35ii . It’s a major difference.
    Someone else felt the same? Or my new headphones are broken?

    • @Dori_1111
      @Dori_1111 Před 4 lety +1

      Yes. I find the QC 35ii to provide a 'livelier' experience. My 700 is kind of 'dull'. I find it very disappointing, mainly considering the price we paid for the 700. I considered returning it, but I'm hoping the promised equalizer in the app may allow us to improve that. I'm surprised the reviews are not talking about it, this was the best review I've seen so far. I also understand that sound experience is somewhat personal. And by the way, for calls I still much prefer my BeatsX, and so my mother in the other end.

    • @DhruvRai17
      @DhruvRai17 Před 4 lety +2

      @@Dori_1111 Exactly, seems like all the reviewers are just trying to ignore the part that the difference is massive. There is no thump in the bass of 700. Tried same song same volume, and QC35ii sounds so much better. One question: Did Bose really promised an equalizer? Do you think that will improve the bass for 700s?

    • @seeker712
      @seeker712 Před 4 lety +3

      Noise Cancellation is Not supposed to shut down other people’s voices. Instead, it’s supposed to drastically reduce background noises like the steady humming of a plane. And there are not many headphones that are better than the Bose in doing this.

  • @Mark-nl1up
    @Mark-nl1up Před 3 lety

    What I learned about Bose from an audio engineer and guys who compete in car stereo competitions. Bose never lists the actual frequency of their speakers. Never. The highest most expensive speakers on the market always list their frequencies of their speakers. Bose doesn’t want you to know what you are getting. Or aren’t getting. I was shown with an audio tuning disc how Bose speakers have NO midrange. A tuning disc playins everyoctive sound the human ear can hear. So with cheap and expensive speakers you hear all the sounds from the lowest lows to the highest highs. When the Bose speakers were tested in front of me they started off with lows. Once they got to the midrange frequency the Bose speakers went silent. For a good 120 to 30 seconds the Bose speakers made no sound. Because they have no midrange. Then the speakers finally started playing the high frequencies. If you like that then your okay if not well don’t buy Bose.

    Bose is currently trying to fix this “auto-off after 10 minutes” feature on the QC700 as it’s a bust! You can not sleep in them or meditate with this feature as there is currently no way to turn it off! See there “community website”. It’s a disaster! Everyone is wanting to return their headphones if they haven’t already. Just sad! ☹️

      Not likely they only released that model last year. Sony sounds great but is flawed with touch controls that does not like the cold, and lake of proper multipoint Bluetooth connectivity.

      We retested the QC35 II on the 4.5.2 version a few times. We noticed a slight decrease in ANC performance with our unit, but not as badly as we previously had measured. However, it seems not all units have this issue!

      I scrolled through the comments looking for exactly this!! Been refreshing the website every hour for two weeks now. I just bought them last weekend (I LOVE THEM) and now I just want confirmation if I made the right decision, hehe. By the way RTINGS, if you are actually planning on testing them, use the silicon earpieces, not the foam ones, they don't isolate that well, so the ANC effect wears off.
