I was such a consumer that I thought "what? There's no bass?" When I got these. I was used to the earrарe bassboost quality of cheap advertisement-heavy brand headphones. These are the closest thing to legitimate sound quality I've ever owned, and I love them so far! Got them for a superb deal as well so I had to cop.

@@fuju7871 I haven't used beyerdynamic. From everything I've seen, they are tilted up (hot up top). Check out rtings.com and see if you can find the pair you're looking at. From the data I've seen and reviews I've listened to, Beyerdynamic doesn't sound like the step I want to take.
I can tell you, Sennheiser hd600 IMO is the cleanest, most trusted headphone I have ever heard. I've owned them for 3 years now and they've put all my other headphones on the shelf (except my bt headphones I use for mowing and sometimes driving).
I've heard other reviewers say the same thing. I haven't heard a single audiophile who has anything bad to say about the hd600. The only other headphone I've heard people review possibly as preferable to the 600 are the Hifiman 400i. But if I remember correctly people said that they're less comfortable and not built as well and some people still prefer the HD 600. I had thought about getting them just for comparison but I passed after hearing my most trusted reviewer (the guy who seems to hear like I do)say he preferred the 600.
I bought my 600 based on reviews from extensive research and it paid off. I wish it had been the first pair I bought and I might have saved money. Check out super* reviews maybe he has experience. Also check out metal578 and see if he's done a video. I don't know where you got your information but those guys I trust.

These are an absolute workhorse of a headphone. Seriously I put more than 25 hours on them each week, no complaints on my part. Run them off bluetooth almost all the time as I'm not that bothered with fidelity when I'm out and about. I have my home rig for that.

I might've averaged 50 hours per week since 2019 on mine, and they still perform like new. These headphones were expensive as fuck, but they might very well have been the best tech investment I've ever made.
And if these were to fail, for some reason, I'd go for a new pair of 35 II without any hesitation

Thank you! You totally made me not regret getting the Bose QC35ii over the Sony WH-1000XM3s! It took me a long time to come to a decision but even after choosing to go with Bose I was still unsure of my choice. You've put my mind at ease and this seemed to be a pretty honest and fair review. I wasn't expecting the Bose (or the Sony for that matter) to be the best sounding headphones I've ever heard, but I was hoping that they would be good enough to still be very pleasing to listen to whenever I need the convenience they offer. I can't wait for them to arrive!

      @The1Music2MyEars Před 3 lety

@@urbanistgod The Sony's come with an equalizer app, so to say they are too bass heavy might be a bit of an overstatement because on those headphones, you can turn off the ANC and still adjust the sound whereas on the Bose, if you want good sound, you MUST use the ANC, and ANC gives me a slight headache. I have both at the moment and messed with the Sony so the bass is the same but the 1000xm3 has more balanced clear sound whereas on Bose, it sounds like someone cranked the treble too high and has a slight hollowness as a result.

Hans Zimmer pumped a shit ton of deepness into that score and it's just not there with the Bose ANC off.

In my experience, the big issue with these is the mic. It artificially amplifies anything in the vocal range, so if you're on a conference call with anyone else around you who happens to be talking (even quietly), you need to be using mute a lot. There's a whole thread about this on Bose's forums, and they don't seem to really care too much about fixing it.

I received a pair of Bode QC35II with a new phone and was going to sell them unused as I owned a set of wired Sony NC cans. Curiousity got the better of me however and I tried them out, whilst not the most detailed and recognising some of the quirks highlighted in this excellent DMS breakdown, I decided to keep them and parted with the old set. Since then after many holiday and business flights and uses for business calls, I have them as my go to set for the day on comfort, isolation and convenience - oh and despite a few bruising encounters there's no observable damage either. Music and movies is a switch over however to the HD58X or Audeze LCD2, depending on the mood.
    Nicely done review DMS.

They sound good enough, they're extremely comfortable for me (depends on how your ears actually fit inside the cups), the ANC at the time was mind-blowing and now it's still good, the battery life is very good but I have to charge them every day when I'm using them all day (and you definitely can wear these literally all day, I spend quite some time in hospitals and I wear headphones there literally all day) but I used them heavy for several years and the battery life is probably half of what it used to be, the charging time still is amazing. I think I'm on my 4th pair of ear pads right now because I shave my head really short so I wear down pads quite quickly. They're best for CZcams and Podcasts and stuff, for active music listening they're alright, so for me they definitely lean towards the convenience side and not the pure sound quality side. They're super rugged, they fell off my head several times and the only "damage" is a slight dent in one ear cup. They're made out of plastic but it's super strong, super flexible and they should last you a very long time (probably until the battery is completely dead), I don't take too much care about the stuff I use every single day, those things need to work, so if they survive my dropping and shoving them in backpacks without a case and stuff for 5 years that really means something.

    • @marctestarossa
      @marctestarossa Před 7 měsíci

I pretty much only use them wired for gaming because of the bluetooth delay and if you use them wired, definitely still turn them on. They sound super different when they're turned off and only run passive and to my ears they sound very thin and not very pleasing. But if you're absolutely out of juice and you need them they will work. I would rather take them off, charge them for 15 minutes and use them probably multiple hours wired and turned on.

Love mine! I have had my current pair for 6 years and have used them on numerous flights and for everyday use for all kinds of things such as music, calls, podcasts, youtube, etc. I have replaced the earpads once and so far that is all that I have had to do in terms of maintenance. I think for practical use in terms of travel, calls, and just about everything else, they can't be beaten. They are very easy to use, 9/10 they pair without failure, the noise canceling is excellent and they are comfortable. For those times when you want to REALLY kick back and just listen to music and you can actually tell the difference in sound quality ( many people can't), then invest in something like Sennheiser HD 800 or Philips SHP9500.

On thing that I was surprised about was the call quality was much better on the QC20 than the QC45's. Perhaps that's because the QC20's are wired? the QC45's sound much better with the noise cancelation turned off, with the wired connection.

Thank you for the video, it was very good. I agree that they are not detailed by any means. However, I would not consider the difference between wired and wireless small. When I connect to audiofly 1.5 or a Meiers Corda Pro II they sound quite OK, warm but ok. While when they are in Bluetooth they sound bad, mushy and washed up. My sensation when I turn on the bluetooth is that I am hearing headphones with a thin pillow in front of the drivers. It makes the bass booming, out of control, bigger than what is in the record but soft and mushy with no impact. The high frequencies are there, but rolled out and not extended at all. It is true that Bluetooth compresses the audio, but most people confuses the limitations of bluetooth with poor built-in DAC/ headphone amplifier. If I connect the QC 35ii wired to a FiiO bluetooth dongle it sounds OK, so it is not the limitation of the bluetooth technology. The truth is that the DAC of the QC35 is of bad quality, like most headphones out there.

So if you had to choose only one set of headphone for listening to music, what would you pick? I got these and love them. Please explain something to me. Are "Audiophiles" the art critics of music? Is there a school or a degree to become an Audiophile or are they just self proclaimed. I have a pair of Sony studio headphones used to mix music and the tracks are generally flat. I am new at all this and you seem very knowledgeable but I've been listening to music for many years using cheap ones and expensive ones. Isn't it really a matter of taste. Some people like more mid, bass, etc. I think it's a matter of preference, which also includes fitting, comfort, style, etc. I also have other Bose products and they all sound great however I can do without the price tag! Let me know what you think is the best all around headphone for listening to music, plugged or unplugged. Thanks!!

If it sounds good it is good. And Bose QC35II sound damn good. And they feel good. And they last and last. Only bad thing is during phone calls if another call comes in it totally prempts the conversation incessantly for extended moments with the bose voice telling you the entire incoming phone number over and over and over. Why, Bose?? Why??

My QC35 II pair wired-in sounds more muffled and less full like the sound is coming from the end of a tunnel, compared to my $50 pair of HyperX cloud. When the Power is turned off but still wired-in, the volume and quality drops significantly. But after seeing this guy's review about the headphones being less detailed than $70 ones, and him saying you don't buy Bose for sound quality, I don't feel nearly as ripped off. I'm glad I watched this cuz I was going crazy over how bad my $300 pair of headphones sounded.

I have an old pair of Sony MDR10-RNC headphones with magnificent noise canceling. But I have big ears and they would hurt after about an hour of wearing. (Yes, I was called Dumbo as a kid because my ears.) I have two 12 hour flights coming up so I starting looking around for new set. The new Sony MX3 was attractive because of the superior performance of my old Sony pair but the ear cups looked the same size. Some reviewers recommended the Bose QC ll (along with several non-ANC models) for people with big ears so I gave them a try. The noise canceling is great and the cups don’t hurt my ears the way the Sony cups did. I can’t really comment on the sound quality because I have high frequency hearing loss from age and exposure to gunfire. However, the sound quality seems to be o.k. for me when I wear my hearing aids that compensate for my high frequency loss. The blue tooth connections are seamless between my Fire tv stick and my iPad Pro. Thanks, DMS for a nice review. You are the opposite of so many reviewers who feel they have to talk as fast as possible to get everything in they want to say.

I was advised to buy these as an upgrade to my Gen1 CAL's and as you mention in this video it's actually the other way around.
I love the sound signature of my CAL's and I am looking for an upgrade, everything i've tried has more detail for sure, but it loses the essence that I love.
(example can be found on Pink Floyd - The Division Bell - Coming back to life 0:18) This example sounds warm and resonant as if it was in your hands, I find this is lost on other things I have tried.

I prefer the Xm3 because it has an app equalizer. If you get the XM3, I do suggest you turn off the ANC, turn the clearbass to +8 and you got yourself a set of headphones with same bass response but more clear and less treble-blasted sound resulting in a more "full" range. People have asked Bose for an equalizer in their app for years and they haven't done jack sh**

Got a pair of these recently, and there's only one problem with them, at high volumes the higher end frequencies produce a crackling noise, the only way to get rid of it is to tune down the higher frequencies using the equalizer of your music player or a third party sound control software, only happens in bluetooth, when wired no matter how loud you turn them up the crackling dissapears i'm assuming it's a bluetooth issue, that is supposedely fixed with a firmware update but people have complained that the anc wasn't as effective with a newer version so i didnt make that jump, aside from that the battery life is as advertised, the comfort is unlike anything i've had in the past, you can sleep with these on, they're that comfortable.

Hey bud, since you’re one of the greatest guys out there when it comes to this theme, I’d like to know about your opinion:
Which headphones I can surely trust when it comes to sound quality(good bass, clean mids and highs) between 200-400 bucks? I’ll buy one but still couldn’t decide on which one. I am searching for these ANC lately but I thought this feature could give me a better sound experience, but they’re usually expensive and that’s not my priority, since I plan to use it in not-noisy places.
If this anc thing can help with the sound, I was thinking about the new bose 700. What do you think?

I'm interesting in getting a much better sounding pair of headphones, such as one of the pairs on your ranked list of headphones but as far as having a pair of headphones for travel/commuting/hanging out at a starbucks, etc are these headphones already the best option or are there any headphones that have way better sound and clarity but also have the practicality of listening in public without carrying amps or the sound bothering nearby people?

Hey man, really appreciate your videos. I've been watching heaps of them to try and find the perfect set of headphones for my usage. I like to listen to music while I work and answer calls from clients etc all day, so need a pair that is wireless with a good mic. USB-C would also be preferable. I also like to create music using Logic so I also have the requirement of having something that could be used as a reference pair of headphones as well. I know to stay away from Bose going by your vids and I was almost sold on the NC700's. I then was interested in the Audio Technica M50x BT's until you slagged them off in your tier video hahahaha.... now I'm confused. Maybe the BeyerDynamic DT770 32 ohms might be the go, but I've heard they are bulky and not really good on the go. Maybe the AKG -K371..? Any suggestions would be amazing as I've watched like 5 hours of videos and I'm more confused than when I stated hahaha...

Beware the mid treble is somewhat raspy and artificial on the QC35, lacks dynamics, resolution, detail for sure. But I thought the balance on it is pretty good. Works for a lot of genres as well as movies..
NC for me is somewhat overrated, I dont really need it all that much, only fly 2-3 times a year.
But in the end I get much mor satisfication from a good sounding headphone, even it is not as convenient as a anc/bt headphone.
    &O
For example the M50xBT is much more lively and fun, and isolation is good. P7 wireless was spectacular in the treble, but sadly it is being discontinued, and the PX replacement sucks. B&O H9 is another fun V shape option.
