I bought a car 2nd hand from a dealer and didn't know my car had one of these. I paid cash for my car, no financing. My car left me stranded sometimes and it turns out this was the cause! The company who installed it in my car was disabling my car for no reason, even though there was no lien on my vehicle. This is super dangerous because it can leave you stranded in an emergency situation!!

I know this video is a few years old, but I just wanted to let you know. The way they wired it, it was only for ignition on power. In order for it to be a starter kill, they would cut the wire, and 2 wires from the tracker would go to the splits. One to one side, one to the other. Also, according to that schematic, if they used that blue wire with a white stripe, it would cut the ignition power.

A lot of dealers put these on every vehicle they sell and they make you pay for it, usually $400 or more on the addendum sticker. Mine is called KAHU. They market it as a theft recovery device or "if you forgot where you parked" like it's for your benefit. You CAN pay a fee and be able to track the vehicle yourself but it's mostly for the bank.

Just pulled one off my truck.
Bought it from a used lot where they were legit with me and affirmed there was when I asked as part of buying (I've had a vehicle stolen, so cool, fine by me). For most of the payment term I had a Bluetooth OBD dongle plugged in before I removed it for an insurance dongle. Paid the truck off months ago, insurance asked for their dongle back and during the brief period while nothing was plugged in I noticed a green light flashing down to the floor board from behind the dash. Cleaner install than what you showed... Black and red tapped into wires going to OBD, green wire going into a relay wired between the cut white/blue.
Had to pop the lower dash off to get high enough in the dash to pull it free of the two-sided sticky Velcro and to get my Klein's up to snip off a couple zip ties. Bell-capped the white/blue on the relay sides of those joins. Truck starts so mission accomplished.
...now I just need to finish up my RaspberryPi based cellular gps tracker and get it installed so I can sleep at night again...

Nothing else wired to it. I unhooked it and the car wouldnt start. Re installed it and it started. I looked inside under the steering column and by the interior fuse box, under the hood by the starter and by fuel pump. I literally cant find anything else connecting this thing or another tracker/disable unit. Any advice? There's got to be a relay hooked into the tracker somewhere in order for it to be able to kill the starter. The one in my truck was loose and kept knocking around in the dash above my left foot.

I have checked my cars for this device, and we don't have any mounted. Both our cars was paid for in cash and never had a lean or loan on them, so there was no need for a tracker. We also live in a place where car thefts are very rare, and if somethings happen the police will mostly know who to look at for this crime. We had a car broken into some years ago, and they did some damage trying to get out my after market stereosystem, but we actually got it back in a few days when the police paid the guy av visit and it was sittng on his kitchen cupboard. The damage of the break in ended up costing more than the stereo, so the fool paid it tree times over.

From a criminal's purpose of using a tracker could be to let them know when you are away from home so they could be robbing you while you aren't there. They could also steal things from your car. Someone switched out my brand new battery with an old one. It was very noticeable with the old one being dirty and not the same brand. I had to buy another battery in the same week. I went through a series of many things disappearing from car. I returned back to car after being in movie theater or mall finding rubber around driver door window removed. Someone had been in my car. I never could catch them in the act. I just got rid of car and bought another cash car. My apartment was broken into three times. I had cameras but power was shut off first. Criminals are very smart. Police didn't help at all.

Take it off and put it in the microwave then put it back on..
No problem if their tracker burns out not your problem.
Buy a used car and find one and you paided cash.
They wire these on cars but when your car is paid off they don't remove them and later in a few cases the car is disabled by the device because of it getting a signal from some random device as you are driving on the freeway and your car is hit and totaled and you may never know.
When i first heard of these i worked at a wreaking yard and started looking and found a number of cars with them.
My boss found the company that makes them and called them and the company for a small fee put them back in service and he installed them on his towtrucks, so he could track them and the employees in them.
in another case, a dealer fired an employee that installed these trackers.
the employee had logged every one he had installed for years and used the disable every car within a hour time. Period. Needless to say, but the tow company in town was tied up with business that day.

Check under your fuse box in the engine compartment for a relay that looks out of place or wired into fuse box separately. If it does then that’s why it isn’t starting. You would have to remove the relay and fix the wiring.

My stepfather had one installed on his work truck by the company he worked for. But he where aware of it though. As if you have a company car at home for free to take you to where you work. They have to have a drivers journal to send it in to they who handles the taxes. So this where a big help as the company he worked for got it sended to them digital. Then it's not popular by the workers that takes advantage of haveing a company car and use them a lot for personal uses LOL. Also it's a safety thing if it gets stolen. Now it where not hidden as it where placed in the corner of the windshield.

Camaro Time Yep and I understand why they are put in but they will eventually cause a no start issue even if the car is paid off. Which means the car would have to be towed to a shop and fixed at owners expense. If a lender put this on they should have to pay to have it removed when the car is paid off and not put on the shoulders of the owners.

I just removed one from a 2011 Chevy Silverado that I had taken to the dealer for a service recall.
During this service recall I guess they relocated the tracking device from its initial location using the gas pedal wiring to the 'updated' location behind the stereo tapping into the AC wiring.
I just removed it now long after the truck was paid in full while doing some dash repairs.
But before that I had to make a proper fix to their original shitty splicing wiring they did on the gas pedal wiring, because it was causing driveability issues.
One should be able to charge these mofos up the wazu for the time and labor one has to spend fixing their shitty 'work'.
