A lot of dealers will also just leave the trackers in when final payment is made as they can't be bothered to remove them, you've already paid for it in any case. If it has a remote kill switch it will interrupt your starter motor usually, some will do fuel pump like some alarm systems. Usually under the steering column or from the starter relay which is what it looks like this one has, standard tracking devices can be installed anywhere I put one in the pillar and wired it to a dash cam cable I had hardwired in so unless you stripped the car it was connected in the headliner of the car you wouldn't find it. Some kill switches "fail safe" which means when the relay is "off" it connects the cables together to allow you to start the car, others will require a signal from the tracker to "activate" the starter motor, in this case just permanently power the relay or re-join the 2 ends together eliminating the relay altogether, you can do this anyway and leave the tracker installed or wire it to a 12V battery at your house so it looks like the car is there and at least it won't look too suspicious to the finance company and they will think they have disabled your car when in fact they haven't. The trouble with these devices is, who pays to get it fixed when the relay goes bad and stops you from starting your car after leaving it installed? Lots of people driving around with these installed and they have no clue!
I wonder if that’s the error message I keep getting on my fully paid off car. I bought it outright in feb 2019. Fast flashing red light…it is an immobilizer warning. It’s the second warning of this type. the other one can be turned off with a weird series of turning signal on then off pumping break etc. I thought it was silly but totally worked the three times it happened. the red light doesn’t seem to have this type of shutoff

I'm disappointed that someone decided that it would be a good idea to divulge some my business practice on the internet open to the public. But alas, here we are. As I said in a previous comment on this video, using GPS devices with starter interrupt capabilities is, in my opinion, a waste of money. While many suppliers will price GPS+Starter Interrupt devices the same as OBD2-style GPS without Starter Interrupt, the installation is what separates the two in terms of price. The Starter-Interrupt style (shown in this video) requires the expertise of a professional for installation. They used to charge me two hours of labor @ 50 dollars an hour = 100 labor per vehicle. The OBD2 style can be done by a layman, such as me, in a matter of minutes, literally faster than I can finish a Triple Starbucks Espresso, especially with a battery powered bit driver, like a DeWalt. Just unscrew the original port, plug it into the Y-Splitter, plug the GPS into one of the ends, the other end goes where the original plug used to be, and tuck the mess behind the trim, works so well that even the mechanics doing an OBD2 smog check can't tell it's there. No install fee, almost no down time, ready for sale in minutes.

What about your cars on board gps built in by the factory? The one that lets first responders know your location in case you were in an accident. That connection can also track and disable your vehicle and is used for many different situations. Such as law enforcement and collections. All you need is a vin number and your screwed via satellite.
That’s sad… they cld have offered you a “Deferred Payment” meaning, they simply move the missed payment to the back end of your lease! Which will give you a whole month to catch up! So that’s strange they didn’t..
Yes they will know and it is illegal to remove it because they tell you about the tracker and make you sign paperwork showing that you understand and agree to it. They can legally have you arrested and legally the only way to not lose the car is to pay off the full amount of the loan immediately, which 99% of people financing a vehicle cannot afford to do. That's why I only purchase vehicles cash and fix all my own vehicles.
So you have two questions, first "Can they (the lender) find out that you've tampered with the device and, second "Can you get into big trouble". I'll start off by answering the first question because it's the easiest. First - Yes. The device has an internal battery that, while short lived, has enough battery left in it to send out one last "SOS" message to the lender, letting him/her know that the device has been tampered with, and it's location at that time. Not much can be done about that except block the signal, which isn't easy, but not impossible. I'm a dealer and I use these devices myself. I've found out that they work well out in the open, but if the car is in a parking garage, sometimes I lose communication with the device, depending on how many floors of steel reinforced concrete's above it. One of my customers work at a casino, she parks in the employee parking garage, and when the car is there, it won't respond to my commands. Found out why when I went to visit and found out that my cell phone wouldn't work either while in the garage. Second - Can you get into big trouble... that one's a bit more complicated. If you're talking about criminal trouble, then in theory, yes, but in practice, no. I'm in Texas, and is per Texas Penal Code Section 32.33 (Hindering Secured Creditors) it is a felony to conceal mortgaged property from the lienholder. So in theory, yes. But the last time that I could find that someone was actually charged with such a crime was before I was born. So in practice, probably not. It's a law that's pretty much un-enforced. Probably the same in other states. That doesn't mean that snipping wires is without consequence. While SWAT may not kick in your door for cutting the wires to the GPS, the lender can enforce his/her rights in civil court. I do. I repossess the car. Then the customer will want to cure the default (that is, make up for late payments) and get the car back, but then I refuse. I'll tell the customer that I'm not interested in him making up the back payments. I want him to pay off the entire loan, every penny, in 10 days, or I keep the car, I keep the down payment, I keep any payments I've made up until that point, and if the customer traded in a car at the time of purchase, I keep that too. And legally I can do this because of Uniform Commercial Code, Article 1 (General Sales), Part 3 (Territorial Applicability and General Rules), Section 309 (Option to Accelerate at Will). Basically if I, the lender, believe in good faith that the prospect of payment has been impaired (like when the customer starts cutting wires off the GPS), then I can cancel the loan and demand full payment within 10 days, otherwise I keep everything. So think twice before picking up a pair of wire cutters, especially if you've already invested a lot into the car.
For customers information, Customers who purchase cars never asked for Tracking GPS installed in it. Only fourth party Car Dealers do this kind $@#t...
@@YoshiXO you're right they can't put a lien on that car but the car is still both of there's meaning the car company can't turn around and resell the vehicle just because you defaulted on one payment cuz they're only the the title is still in that guy's name and most of the time when they take those people to court they lose because they're selling it for three times what it's worth and most cases they sell lemons that only last for as long as the contract is
When I purchased my truck, they told me that I had to pay an additional fee for a LoJack tracker that they had installed. I told them that I didn't want it and to take it off. At the end they forced me to take it. Now I'm wondering if I just paid for something that they could also use to track the vehicle for repo purposes...

I would use a 12 volt battery supply until I get it to where I'm going to store it and then use a 12 volt dc adapter that plugs into a wall plug
How do I find the tracker on a 16 Nissan Maxima? Please help me..

Lol..
Hi, I’m going through same situation.. how can I find gps tracker on 2013 f150..I would appreciate any advice. Thank you
I paid mine off and they refused to take mine out they said they remotely disabled it but I got into an argument with the rep and she had the nerve to disable my car so I called fox5 and suddenly they wanted to fix the problem and remove the tracker...funny how that works when the AG got involved.
That is crazy that you had to even go such length like wtf wrong with these businesses
Smart man though you got great sources
Dude, seriously if she disabled my car after it was paid off and I had the title in my hand, I would’ve filed the massive lawsuit.

Great video with good audio made in good faith. But man, the camerawork looks like it’s off a Motorola. Makes it tough to see anything you’re referring to. Try it from a further angle at least.

What's a relay?
Peace God, are you able to help me do the same with my 2019 hyundai sonata??

Where’s the gps tracker on a 2013 Ford Fusion? How u remove it?

What car is this for?
Question does hertz have trackers on their rental. My car was stolen but it has no on star.
Go to U-Haul
Can you do that on a 2017 Kia Sorrento and will it be in the same spot
It should be in the back of your OBD reader
Yeah they don't give a fuck especially if they can make double money on your car
Now you have to leave your phone at home while driving that car. They can track you through your phone.
@warr I've been trying to figure out how to do that.
Who can track you?
You can turn off the gps in your phone.
While doing that on a phone it shows you locations that the person frequently goes.
What if I changed my phone number and my old number is connected to my financing company?
I have a 16 Acura tlx was tlx and know very little about cars as a female beyond jump starting and installing a new battery is there any way to simplify this for a rookie? Lol

What about your cars on board gps built in by the factory? The one that lets first responders know your location in case you were in an accident. That connection can also track and disable your vehicle and is used for many different situations. Such as law enforcement and collections. All you need is a vin number and your screwed via satellite.
No dealership cares to go that far

That’s sad… they cld have offered you a “Deferred Payment” meaning, they simply move the missed payment to the back end of your lease! Which will give you a whole month to catch up! So that’s strange they didn’t..
What kind of killswitch is it if it takes all the power out of the car? Someone please
They try to get over once you pay what the car is worth they’ll try whatever to get the car back just to resell to the next victim
You so. Right
I can’t find the other wire. I see one black one and I don’t have the rainbow thing on the side
Rayy & Shayy They are all different all the GPS units are made by different companies
Just pulled one out today... catch is I bought mine private full cash. Must have been left over because most of the wires were snipped
Yeah on a private sale its legal to remove but in this videos case its illegal to remove tracker from a financed vehicle.
Hello, I have the exact car. Are you willing to FaceTime to walk through?
Going through this now with the same car model
What about a Kia stinger 2018 I’m going through this now
Did u find out ? I have a k5 & wondering
Can they find out or tell that you disconnected these? And can I get into big trouble?
Do you have contact info I’m having trouble locating the wires under the steering colum
Sorry about that but did you end up getting it off
Eric Lewis I cant get mines off
For customers information,
Customers who purchase cars never asked for Tracking GPS installed in it.
Only fourth party Car Dealers do this kind $@#t...
Technically by law there’s supposed to tell you about the gos and the disabling system / giving you a warning
Just to let you know they put more than one gps per car one you can find one you won’t!
What about a 2015 Chevy Caprice
Where is the GPS tracker normally located in the car ?? I have a Chrysler 200 2016
Use a mirror
Did you find the tracker I have 2015 chysler
Yeah because they know they can't take you to court because they won't win so they have to try to get their vehicle back That's the only way they win
Why cant they win?
It’s not their automobile once you give them the ssn or ein. Put a lien on it immediately and put it in your trust
@@YoshiXO you're right they can't put a lien on that car but the car is still both of there's meaning the car company can't turn around and resell the vehicle just because you defaulted on one payment cuz they're only the the title is still in that guy's name and most of the time when they take those people to court they lose because they're selling it for three times what it's worth and most cases they sell lemons that only last for as long as the contract is
Does it have a history of location, or last known location??!!
When I purchased my truck, they told me that I had to pay an additional fee for a LoJack tracker that they had installed. I told them that I didn't want it and to take it off.
