His comments about seeing his baby daughter for the first time are so true. Everyone tells you that you're going to have this near epiphany and that it'll be the best moment in your life. It's a terrifying moment. And when it isn't the best moment of your life, you feel bad because everyone told you it WOULD be and you feel like you're a bad person. That said, the first night with my daughter, as she slept on my chest, was the best moment of my life (so far). So to any future parents out there, don't feel bad at any time; the experience is unique to you and your family. Don't listen to anyone but your doctor's and significant other.

I’m glad that Bill tells the story about how he felt or what or why he felt it when he saw his kid for the first time because this is actually a very common experience for a lot of people as the reality hits us in different ways. It’s important that people don’t internalize this one instance in their lives as some character flaw that implies something much bigger like the general anxiety of “something must be wrong with me” as a permanence.
