It has finally begun... Kingdom Hearts fans are working on their own games inspired by KH and it's off to one hell of a start!
I found another there is a Kh Inspired game called Duskfade made in spain its pretty cool, you guys should check it out, i would post a link to its trailer but for some reason those comments get erased xD
None of the X-keepers are talking about it and i think its pretty unfair, its developers studio name is Weird Beluga Studio.
The game is developed by only two people, there is an interview with the game's director avaliable on youtube but its in Spanish cause it belongs to Caith Sith's channel a Spanish youtuber.
The developers literally straight up went "Fine. I'll do it myself".
Some tidbits from the Famitsu interview that released today:
Director's response to being asked about the title:
"There are two basic words. First of all, it's "Renatus" in Latin. It has the meaning of being born or reborn. The other word is Spanish and includes the meaning of "king," which means "born king.''
As you play the story, you will understand the meanings of words such as "born" and "reborn." I combined these to create the title "Renatis." This word itself also appears in the play as having an important meaning."
Nojima on scenario:
"I usually draw characters from fantasy worlds, but this time, many characters with a realistic view of the world and images of modern youth will appear. Therefore, I had Mr. Isobe carefully check the lines of the young characters. Every time I checked, I was nervous to see if I was saying something strange (lol).
Also, I wanted to mix the magical elements of this work into the historical facts and create a history that mixes reality and fantasy, so I also studied the actual history again."
So, I guess you could say the game is called "a true king reborn", and is "a fantasy based on reality".

"a fantasy based on reality" lol. that's literally the tag line of Versus XIII before in the trailers. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 yep, Reynatis is confirmed to be a rip+off of Versus XIII. Well, not exactly a rip+off, but perhaps a revival is more fitting.

I’m suuuuuper interested in a KH-inspired game. I’m more surprised more games like this haven’t been made yet
because it's difficult to pull it off without it looking generic, just like any rpg and/or action game
this is absolutely crazy to see especially how this game is inspired by the best square enix titles. this needs to be localized for the west 🙏🏼 this really the reverse / rebirth for versus xiii 😅

What I like about Square Enix games is that they combine sword fighting with supernatural powers which is why growing up kingdoms hearts was one of my favorite no other games came close ff16 was amazing because they had help from developers of kingdom hearts so I have high hopes for this game

They better not let this be Japan exclusive. This is the closest to Versus XIII we're going to get. At least until Verum Rex gets it's own game eventually.

You missed also that Nomura was writing the backstory for the torna 'organisation' from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and he also was the Character Designer for the Torna character -> for example Jin....

I was learning Japanese already, but I know I’m not going to be able to play this day 1 in Japanese, so I hope there’s an English version coming (or a fan patch).

the underlying themes really remind me of TWEWY, in that the peer pressure vs self expression is simillar to the ideas of being your true self
don't forget that in 2016/17, a timeline for ff15 (yes, 15, not vs13) was released on a big screen event, stating several timelines and titles. So I wouldn't exclude the possiblity of a proper Versus13 reboot. Which will just be called FF Versus

One thing: Nojima and Shimomura have been freelancers for DECADES now. Shimomura in particular left Square after the release of KH1. So this is not an unusual move for them in the slightest.
Now, as for a possible localization, it's indeed kind of weird that they haven't announced it yet. In this day and age, a game of this caliber would have, at the very least, the text translated to English. There's supposed to be a bigger trailer in a few hours, at the moment of writing this comment. Maybe they will announce it there?
