Launching Georgia Tech's Largest Rocket (Jet-A/LOX)

We launched Georgia Tech's largest liquid rocket - GoldiLOX! This liquid-fueled rocket was designed, built, and flown by students. We hit a 5000 ft apogee and 900 lbf thrust with our Kerosene-LOX (liquid oxygen) pressure-fed heat-sink engine. This successful launch and recovery marks the end of our Subscale Mission - we are headed for space!

The Yellow Jacket Space Program (YJSP) is a student organization at Georgia Tech aiming to design, build, and fly a liquid-fueled rocket to the Karman line (100 km high) - the formal edge of space. GoldiLOX is our subscale proof-of-concept vehicle towards this goal - it was the culmination of nearly 3 years of hard work by hundreds of students.

Congrats on the launch, seems a little low for the apogee though. With that size of rocket and thrust, you guys for sure can get to 10k ft

The mass of the rocket was quite high for its size due to all the internal components and the engine. We were originally going to launch with a lighter regeneratively-cooled engine, but we couldn't get it to work in time so we went with a heavier heat-sink engine. We actually outperformed our simulations by a bit.
