      ​​@@Donsdoom Not the way they have done it. You are going to need to grind like crazy the get the effects you want. It's a 1% chance to learn one of the legendary effects on the weapon you are scrapping. Hopefully it won't go live like this because this is unacceptable.

      @@geoffrogers7590 having multiple weapon and armor mules even at 1% chance to learn a mod i will learn a few dozen, others will too, and the box mods can be traded, meaning within a month or 2 all trading will be dead unless it's for aid/clothing the onlything left will be box mods and particles, after a few weeks when people have full sets of (untradeable Groll gear) there wont be anything they need to trade for gear wise

    The cost of 30 modules is definitely not a bug. If they were ever going to give us more control over our legendary effects it wasn’t going to come without some sort of cost.

      idk man, 1500 scrip for one 3-star roll with an extremely high chance of being useless doesn't really sound like a good change to me. I think just increasing it by 3x to 12 instead of 4 would have given the same effect that they were looking for without making it this ridiculously grindy thing for anyone who doesn't play 24/7 (not that it isn't already though...).

      @@LordtoRevenge If you hunt down the effect mod boxes you won't have to keep rerolling in vain, you just pay a large amount of modules a set number of times to get the ultimate item - not bad at all.

      @@Bravilor brother, I did the math on the drops that mod boxes that turtle got. When he showed scrapping for the particles, it was 9 particles for a 3-star. He had like 2046 particles in his inventory. That means he would’ve had to scrap 227 legendary 3-stars to get that amount of particles (more if he scrapped anything less than 3-star and slightly less if perk cards like scrapper give you more particles, still likely over 150 legendary items for that amount). In those 150-225+ legendary scraps, he seemingly got ~10-15 legendary mods to drop and not a single crafting plan (the plans are probably bugged but if they aren’t then that’s ridiculous). That is a fuck ton of grinding for the regular person to get that many legendary 3-stars.
      Add in the fact that modules have just become 7x more expensive when used in crafts and you can begin to see why this is a bigger issue that just “you can craft godrolls now”. Bethesda have skipped adding grind to the game with this change and jumped straight to multiplying it.

    Since you can scrap legendary items now, they should add an option to lock items so you don't scrap stuff by accident, favorites helps, but there is a finite number of slots.

      It does pop up with a confirmation box... not clicking OK for every pop up is a life skill that will save you from messing up computers.

      Let me count how many times I've scrapped my power armor frame and tried to fast travel to learn that I'm over wieght with power armor... .. . A shit TON of times. Thats how many. 😅

    I really wish they add a separate small workbench for scraping legendary items... So we won't accidentally scrap our weapons when using regular workbenches.

    It seems they are looking at older Fallout 4 mods and saying "this is good, let's do it", because there was a very similar mod in 4 that allowed crafting, removing and adding legendary effects to different weapons. This is good, even with the increased costs, gives more control over the effects and what you can make without so much dependency on luck.

      God rolls are gonna be to easy now. God rolls were what everybody was grinding for. One of the biggest reasons we did the module exploit.

    Not sure if you noticed, but the 2nd star SPECIAL effects now gives +2 instead of +1. So stacking +2 Luck on all five armor parts could be a nice +10 Luck option for VATS crit full health builds, especially as the new endurance perks might now be able to cover elemental resistances freeing up the 2nd star slot on armor that you might have used for +25 fire or poison resist.

      You don't need luck on your armor. My bow build is 15 luck, add herd mentality, that's 18, add seared venison with berries, you're at 25.5. And you can then put faster crit charge and you're set. Yes it would mean you don't need to craft that food item, but it would be better to have a more useful effect on your armor. And it's not a hard food item to craft

      @@beastabuelos6421 There are not that many good 2nd star armor effects. Slower hunger/thirst or less explosion damage are still less desireable. If the endurance perk changes are good, then you might want the Natural Resistance perk instead of the individual armor effects. That leaves you only with AP refresh speed, although this can also be replaced with Company Tea and Canned coffee which you don't even need to craft as you have generators for it in your camp. So +2 Luck is still good, same for +2 Intelligence for XP grinding.

      @crazy-tommy maybe, i would like a couple ap refresh pieces so i don't have to rely on well tuned. My ideal setup would be 2 ap refresh pieces, a fire resist piece and 2 explosion resist pieces. I'm not sure I'll be able to make room for any more perks, but if i do, i might swap the fire resist for another explosion resist piece. That's for my own explosion damage really

      Yep, and then they will nerf the hell out of those perks, then nerf them again, then change meta and make the ones you worked for to absolute trash, repeat from launch til now and future. That's literally what has happened. And at one point Bethesda literally admitted they concentrated on adding new ways for players to grind endlessly instead of making actual content.

    Even if the cost stays at 30 legendary modules to craft a 3 star legendary, we get legendaries from enemies and the likes too. Being able to change the legendary stars one by one is extremely big and pretty much all we ever wanted and needed. Can focus our time on actually grinding our godroll armors and weapons now. It's finally not a RNG dream anymore

      Yep I was thinking the same thing, have 2 stars that are great and that 1 turd. Critical Damage and bonus while aiming comes to mind. Get rid of Hunter/Ghoul Slayer on FFR/Reduced AP weapons.

    it doesn't matter what the cost is if you can perfect roll anything how you want. eviction notice is going to be packed every time now. maybe even test your metal. the grind will be real but it will be worth it and account bound is a good idea.

      @@6661313 If bethesda wants repeatable endgame content they can just finally address PvP. Now that legendary effects wont be entirely RNG and you can buy specific legendary mods from other players the gear gap between players has been bridged, for both PvE and PvP

    Maybe the cost of Modules is high because they don’t cost any Legendary Cores based on what we’re seeing.
    Also, without being provided any info, I’m wondering if they’re going to give us the option to buy Legendary Particles with the Legendary Cores.
    I highly doubt they’ll remove them from the game, and this seems WAY too easy for Bethesda to give us. There’s got to be some kind of hidden grind.

    This honestly means so much to me, ive been playing off and on since launch. This game was with me through uni, my first real relationship, and into my first real job
    Its had its ups and downs but i love that theyre sticking with it, and finally ironing out alot of the kinks.
    This change makes me think they might be looking into the changes that seem simple enough but i think really improve the experience. Rounding off rough edges in line with what the community wants is huge and it feels like theres been a change in sentiment for whoevers running the show. It feels like decisions are being made by someone who actually believes in and loves the game, i hope im right. And fingers crossed for more good things to come

    Why would anyone spend the 30 modules to make the initial 3 star Legendary? The cost of adding in the mods would make it cost 45 modules for all 3. What i would do is get the mods you want then wait for the item you want to drop with the 3 stars then simply mod it saving the initial 30 modules. Sure you could get lucky and get a couple mods on the initial roll and save 5 modules if you only have to replace 1 over all 3 but why chance it?

    THIS is what I've been waiting for.
    The tremendous grind and RNG really killed the game for me, left multiple times as a result. Only came back recently and now I see this. Hopefully they go through with this and there aren't too many restrictions.

    It looks interesting but I have a few gripes though.
    First is that I think they should change mods to be a weightless item so it doesn't discourage people from gathering legendary mods from scrapping and being worried about mod stack weight or being forced to sell or discard mods due to being unable to store them.
    They should also make the legendary particles weightless like their former legendary cores so we don't have to worry about a bunch of legendary particles weighing us down, and the change of its status to junk, rather to a non droppable item, is not a good thing I would say due to the face that dropping a bunch of legendary particles on death would suck. I know that last change was probably just to be another discouraging factor to utilize the scrap box to force people to feel more like they need fallout 1st to enjoy the game properly, but I think it would have been much more considerate to players if they just treated it the same way legendary cores were like currency rather than another junk resource item to manage.
    Lastly I'm not a fan of the new the legendary module requirement amount as it is unfortunate that now players will have to decide between scrapping legendaries for potential items or scripping them for modules rather than it being an all in one system like before which adds friction to the player experience and disturbing gameplay flow.

    Very happy with this, I think they realized that everyone that started playing from the show quickly lost interest when they realized the only way to get weapons they want is to gamble for the rest of their life. Not only that but it’s super limited each day which is ridiculous, there shouldn’t be a daily limit, if I’m putting in the time I should be getting more.
    My only complaint is how expensive crafting is now, double digit modules to just make the item, THEN RE ROLL is ridiculous. If this is the route they want to take there needs to be a complete removal and revamp of the scrip limit, which is seemingly being replaced by legendary powder.

      The only issue that I see with this change as it stands in the PTS currently is that it is still super limited each day. Modules still cost a lot and there is still a limited amount of scrip you can get in a singular day, and getting scrip is now competing with getting the particles. They've basically multiplied the grind in the game with this change by adding a few new layers to it while tweaking some older ones like scrips, modules, and such.

      @@DK22200I’ve been playing since release and for me to improve I have to pray to RNG in hopes of getting armor with 3 specific effects or it’s trash. Now I can get those effects by putting in work and resources towards my goal rather than just getting lucky.

    While being able to finally adjust the legendary effects on equipment is awesome, the current costs we're looking at are not. Though I suppose we shouldnt be surprised considering how much Bethesda has already geared the game towards making you have to spend days and weeks of your life farming for just about everything in the hopes that, during that time, you'll give them more money. However, I suppose that now would be a good time to grind for a ton of modules and craft a ton of cheap, light items to scrap later once the change does take effect.

    One thing i noticed during turtle's live stream (he didn't notice), is that modules now cost 100 scrip to buy from the rusty pick. That is foul. This whole process is insanely expensive. So now you can only earn 5 modules a day via scripping weapons....

      @@alargeshrubb7964 No need to be a prick about it. And he's 100% right, these changes are incredibly grindy and negatively affect many aspects of the game. They should be able to balance the changes specifically for the legendary crafting with the materials that they are adding for it instead of making the entire system a grindy shitfest for it. With these changes, it's going to take forever to finish even 1 gun or armor piece. 5 modules a day when it takes 30 modules to make it legendary and then another 50 to change all three legendary mod slots is fucking ridiculous. 16 days for ONE gun or piece of armor is insane.
      That isn't making the game grindy, it's making it a sweatshop.

    I believe what they meant by learning plans for scrapping legendaries is just the normal plans. I don’t have all plans for all weapons learned yet and I was learning the ones I didn’t have unlocked yet as I was scrapping basically my entire stash. Won’t let me scrap rewards weapons like cryptid knife, nuka world weapons, etc…

    the good part is that there is now a use for all the extra legendaries you get after you've reached the extremely low daily scrip limit. i used to just give them away/drop them at events. most of the time im clearing out my stash from the day before and hit the scrip limit before i've even played. im always hovering around max caps and cant find enough things to buy to make it worth keeping my shop open. it'll be nice to scrap legendary weapons in an attempt to build up legendary effects to put onto things i'd actually use, so i like the legendary scrapping aspect

    It wouldn't surprise me at all if the increases in crafting prices wasn't an intentional balance change. With the old system, the per-craft cost was much lower, but your chance of getting exactly what you want was so small it was functionally zero. With this system, all you need is any random drop and what, about a hundred legendary modules, and three modules you can buy from player vendors?
    The entire market wills shift, most people won't have any junk legendary gear in their vendors, they'll scrap every single item because most gear has at least ONE good star. Then you sell that good star as a box if it drops.
    30 modules to roll a 3* fixer is a lot, but 30 modules to roll the base of a gun you don't care what's on because you're slapping the boxes you already own onto it? It's cheap as hell. You could make a perfect godroll with less than a single day's scrip if you already have the boxes on hand.

    im a little torn on this one. once you get the best roll you're after, what else is there to do in the game? you'll be killing things as fast as you can with your build and perfect roll you're after, then you'll roll your armor to the perfect rolls and there will be much less desire to grind for weapons since you cant really improve them anymore. its definitely a cool concept that helps in the immediate future, but im concerned it just leaves nothing else to do in endgame. some people will play either way, but without progression to improve in small bits, i think the game will get boring. you will have reached the pinnacle with nowhere to move upwards and the game could become stagnant for most

      The easiest thing that would help the longevity is if they added a good survival mode that actually incentivizes build diversity and doesn't let you face tank everything by spamming stimpacks. Most online rpgs "begin" when your build is finished, 76 basically ends when your build is finished

      @HiHelloHi a bloodied build, utilizing a quad, crit damage faster reload, or less ap cost railway, using gun fu, will absolutely destroy everything before you can touch it. I've seen it at eviction notice. It's the most powerful setup in the game right now and it's brokenly powerful. The only thing left that's truly event ruining

    Wonder what the end game and trading will look like now. Everybody will have their perfect rolls within a few weeks and then what is there left to do in the game? IMO they should’ve added 4/5 slot for legendaries and reserved this as the only way to get and apply those effects to already existing 3* weapons

      The endgame will probably be obtaining legendary items to scrap for materials for crafting. Players will probably lean toward making more builds now that they don’t have to trade all their stuff away. Bosses will be harder now due to the crit changes on bosses, which will incentivize players to make legit builds.
      As for trading, that was more of a reddit thing that a small portion of the player base used. It will most likely still be used for trading aid, ammo, almost grolls, bulk legendary weapons for mods, and as always…apparel. Grolls will still have their place with players with multiple characters, but players with one will more than likely lean towards crafting.
      Edit: Forgot to say that I like the change.

    It is expensive to craft, but just think of how many modules we all waste on completely random rolls. One problem i have though is the scrip you earn will be slowed down a little by the need to scrap all of your legendaries to build up a good assortment of mods. They could offset that by adding a chance of getting modules from scrapping as well, or add some to the scoreboard

    We begged from the beginning when Bethesda said the were going to add legendary mods to let us choose the mods. Instead they gave us a bs random chance roll system. Now they finally add it when the game is getting old, I get the feeling that they are planning on shutting it down soon and just trying make a quick buck before the end.

    The removal of legacy weapons were the last straw for me, and pretty much stopped playing since then. But if they're allowing us to finally craft specific effects, that's knowing if it's not gonna be grindy as hell, then may be it's finally worth it to come back and play again. I honestly miss it.

    The cost of crafting a new set or random legendary guns costing 30 has to be a bug because in the post they said the legendary particles would be used for that not modules. Modules are only for applying and replacing new legendary mods on an already legendary weapon.

    So instead of adding actual content (imagine it being difficult at first) that rewards you with modules. Lets just ruin the entire long term grind.

Good news right? No.. so will Everyone. Essentially making everything now feel bland. Some people like hunting, collecting, trading. This deletes content. Doesnt add it.

      A slot machine isn't content. Casino gambling is a cheap substitute for content. You don't need epic gear to complete seasons or to tag a boss for rewards. Soloing Earle in under minute gets you nothing. There are no rewards tied to some great achievement in the game. There's no point to the current legendary crafting system beyond wasting your time and feeding gambling addicts.

    With this new feature, eviction notice will be the BEST event to learn these mods, as that event drops all kinds of legendary weapons
    Edit: depending on your view on things, the overall trading of weapons and armor in the game will be less, as everyone will be able to roll their own perfect things.

    Unless they rebalance the cost of modules this is a PAINFUL change for those of us with less time to play and therefore very low ability to gather legendaries at all.
    Edit: atleast cores aren't suffering to grind up, but modules in large quantities are extremely difficult to build up.

    As a level 3000 who has most of the best armor and weapons, once you achieve those things the game loses all meaning to play and you realize the chase was what was keeping you invested. Maybe that’s just me but I can now only play for a short while at the beginning of a scoreboard or an event with new items to collect, then right back to not playing.

    as if rolling legendaries wasn't a huge slog in the RNG realm. now by the looks of this it will be near impossible to get a decent legendary item. my advice to everyone is to roll what you want before this change, because when this change drops you can say goodby to making your own legendary equipment.

      Quite the opposite. You now just roll a single three-star item and scrap everything under the sun for legendary box mods. Once you apply them, you're done forever. Only the completionists who have a few screws loose and need to know how to craft everything on demand will have problems. But you can't help crazy people.

    Considering I can get like 50~ legendary items in one hour on a private server, its not too bad.
    This is gonna tank the legendary weapon and armour market sites, thats probably their intentions too.

    I've crafted hundreds of SS pieces, and have only seen a few unyielding pieces. I actually agree with the higher crafting cost, as a few modules isn't really all that much. Yes, crafting them as a fresh level 50 will be tough, but this puts value on legionaries that do drop, instead of what it is now. Being able to scrap legionaries is huge, and having used the mod that did this in 4, I absolutely loved the system. RNG Godrolls shouldn't exist in videogames in my opinion, MMOs or singleplayer. Sure, it might take awhile to gather modules, but on average, this system makes them so much faster to obtain, so much so that I'm shocked they'd even consider doing this at all.
    Currently, I prefer a drop of a regular pistol over a 3 star legendary since I can scrap the regular one. That's just ridiculous. Now I make meaningful progress towards assembling the gear I want, and can even experiment on gear before committing.
    I will say, a low chance of learning the formulas hurts though, especially for veterans. The modules supposedly being tradable does mitigate this quite a lot though.

    You know how hard it is to find a Medics, Explosive, 25 AP Combat shotgun for a medics build? its damn near impossible because no one keeps anything medic.

    So maybe incorrect but I am reading this as: We want you to be able to pick what stars you want on your personal gear but to farm those effects in the open world. I am thinking crafting will now be less about getting modules/cores and more about what you legendary guns you can scrap.

    I like this update, it might be very expensive getting legendary items what you want, but at least it's no longer tied only to luck what you end up getting. Maybe we get even event drops for those new boxes and recipes, that would be so cool, but maybe that's too much to ask.

    Even if some of those changes aren’t bugs, I would say it’s still a very welcome change. I love it!

    What will happen to the market though…? I only be using caps for plans, ammo, apparel? Why trade why have vendors. What’s the grind in this. You can’t even trade it.

    I think the module cost is pretty fair, almsot cheap even compared to how it was before, way nicer to be a ble to work towards your items properly, I have crafted hundreds of secret service pieces, deleting almost all of them and don't have what I want, with this system I could've scrapped the excess ones and then added the effects I want together manually eventually
    With the very high initial cost the idea seems to be to get the mods and particles from world drops and then choose equipment you want to kit out with it and I am absolutely fine with that you get so many legendarys anyway, you'll end up coming away way cheaper with this (even with 30 module cost for initial 3 star) 30 initial + 10 one star change + 15 2 star change + 25 for a perfect god roll that's 80 modules with guarantee you get what you want

    in my opinion instead of being untradeable, the weapon itself should be undroppable and we should be able to scrip it as we normally do.

    A player like me will finally have an incentive to run expeditions. I don't care about the vast majority of stamp plans. And so long as I can reasonably get a box mod for the effects that I want, I also don't care about learning all of the mods. Once I get the few things that I want, I'll put a fork in it. It'll be done, and I'll be happy that it's done forever. Casino gambling isn't why I play Fallout.

    I think it's a decent trade off. Increasing the price to re-roll the effects while being able to apply whatever effect you want.

    The cost of modules seems cheap. I don't have the ability to count how many modules I have spent random rolling armor and weapons. It seems to make sense to make it more expensive to grind mats for selectable mods. Also love the non tradeable aspect. That makes so much sense.

    If the cost to craft 3 star legendary is not bugged at 30 - then the reason is so we don’t use our 1000’s of modules to craft legendaries in order to scrap for box mods and to learn effects. My guess at least

    It's 30 Modules - but no cores! Perhaps they concluded both currencies to one but increased the costs?

    I don't think that the crafting cost is a bug. If the crafting is deterministic, it makes sense to increase the cost. It certainly beats rolling for years to not get the set you want. I went searching for a complete set of unyielding sentinel armor and ended up with unyielding +1 intelligence. I'm not a West-Tek runner and never will be. I'd rather pay a lot for exactly what I want than spend an ocean time chasing my tail playing legendary slot machine.

    Need more special weapons like the holyfire with cruise effects that can be re rolled but make them hard to acquire make them worth something in the game like enclave plasma flamer.
