Another quick and convenient option for issues with intersecting walls is to swap them to the pavilion walls from one of the recent scoreboards. They still have collision on the outer edges, but the center is completely open and clear to build in. You need to swap to a solid wall with no window or doorway first, but all of the solid wall variants can be swapped to pavilion walls and back again. I found it extremely helpful in a recent build where I was making custom kitchen cabinets with western bar pieces and got tired of the game constantly complaining that they were intersecting with the walls. It's also helpful for quick adjustments to small decor pieces that get picky about how close they are to the wall.
I was trying to edit my very first camp and got the "cannot be moves structure will not be accesible"error, I mean great feature, and I immediately freaked out but remembered the stair case trick you used in the video and it saved me! Only for me to get rid of the whole thing and use this bundle instead! Great video and thanks!

The "free" fortress partitions come with an extra bit of "fuck you". If you already owned the plank partitions, the junk wall variants with the painted planks, well you don't any more because some dipshit must have used the same name for both of them in the atom shop and overwrote one with the other. Been talking to their CS since the patch dropped because since the fortress partitions are bugged as "owned" you can't buy them without buying the entire bundle and you need to buy them to keep them or else like any other bugged atom shop stuff they remove it from your account when they fix it.
I bought the bundle and because I had the junk partitions the bundle had a discount. However I love my junk partitions and want them back and working. At moment the are legacy items so you can't place them as they nolonger exist in the build menu and ones you have built you cant remove , delete or repair.
They talk about people playing 5D chess but they have obviously not had to build in Fallout 76 yet. I guess the name fits the game 76D chess jesus building is complicated sometimes and it's not like we're trying to do something special just make something look nice lol. Truly sir I salute you for coming up with these blueprints!

i wish i had watched this video like 5 days ago... i didnt know you had a video on how to get stuff unstuck. i had a freeplaced wall that i accidentally snapped a roof to... and for whatever reason a foundation wouldnt snap to that freeplaced wall (or at least i thought it wouldnt) and uh yeah... my camp was almost done and i had to start over.... it took me 5 days to get to the point i was at lol love your content man, its made me such a better builder
14:15 you can add upper floor by adding an additional floor to the other side, setting down another corner step and flipping it, but you'll lock the floors in place.
No where near as skilled in building, but just trying to upgrade what I have and I get overwhelmed. I love my “cliff hanger cabin” as I’ve made improvements incrementally, and I’ve been playing for years, but there’s still SO much of my build menu that is locked out because I don’t have the plans and not willing to waste caps buying plans I don’t need. I would LOVE a video going over the most useful items that require obtaining plans rather than buying stuff with atoms, and where to get the plans. Keep up the great content!

Would love to catch the docks/their full bundle on the store at some point. It’s sad there isn’t even an option in the support ticket list for any kind of dock, I pretty much always build by water and they’d look great. Also for anybody with the summer camp shelter, since they use docks in the promo pics and it looks great but there’s no way to get them.
These can be used when building an underground camp to remove the stairs that are attached to the foundation. Im not sure if there was another way. It has always bothered me that there were stairs attached to my goundation i couldn't get rid of. Using the corner stairs and catwalks i was able to make my floor slightly lower than the original floor build under it and then remove the original floors and stairs. If you use the plant bed and position it well it can create an almost entirely hidden underground camp.
Interested in Mr Cs opinion of the Once Human game, and the build mechanic there in. To me, it's very Fallout inspired, with a little Conan Exiles perhaps. Has been fun playing with the building, exploring limitations and checking what tricks work. Anyways, enjoyed this vid, we always get fun content with Mr C.

bought the L-shaped stairs and the catwalks as soon as i saw them in the shop cause i knew there'd be some cool things you could do with them. haven't messed with em yet but i'm sure these tips will be helpful when i do lol.
The catwalks were given to me early when I first joined into this game about two/three months ago as a Fallout first member. (Free?) I was shocked that I had something that my boyfriend didn't at the time.. I figured it was kind of a random "gift". He got something in the atom shop on his account that I didn't - and I received these minus the poles. When I seen this bundle I actually went ahead and bought it because I have enjoyed these shorter catwalks as shelves and garage-like overhead compartments in my garages. Alongside the rest of the bundle and stairs I have really enjoyed how you took out some of the test work for me. I was doing a bunch of the little tricks you showed here to try and come up with various things and your explanation's helped a lot! I'm sure there will be a lot of neat upcoming builds with these too - I have adored them as paths on the ground.
Bethesda.. it just quirks. This game is now prety much only PvE so what do they expect us to do with camps? I mean buildlimit to not crash caches with loadin items... ok we all know the crash triangle from Fallout 4. But come on Bethesda just enable cliping already and throw in triangles for go measure. Not like we ask for unlimited scaling.
Hey Mr.Church! Have you got any tricks specifically for building on water? Got a CAMP in Whitespring and some places are erroneously marked as water (also, after latest update the position of water zones changed...), so it's a bit of a pain trying to blend the camp with existing structures. I mean, apart from using foundations. I'm a bit struggling with this and haven't found a single video about this in particular :/

Wonder if those new pole-supports could be used to create a moderately 'new-ish' looking wall? Can they stack up right next to each other? Maybe would need to destroy them to superimpose them into each other's spaces? I don't have them, so I can't test that myself, but they look like they could be used to do that.

When you were doing that with the door where you slid the foundation over, I couldn't figure out how to do it. My first problem is when I put the door then it won't allow me to delete the wall. How did you delete the wall?
there are a few ways! you just have to "disconnect" the door from the frame so there's no support. One way is to turn the doorway into a normal wall, then you can remove it. The other way is to turn the door into one that doesn't normally snap into a doorframe. If it won't snap into the doorframe, the doorframe isn't gonna be supporting it. To slide the foundation, I pick up the item, hold down on the place button and move it over (this keeps it level up and down)
@misterchurch666 I have it again because I moved a piece of this catwalk in my camp, so Bethesda took that as a purchase and charged me atoms to have the thing back I had before, but now I have the little pole I'll never use. Pretty sure that's called predatory business practices and is illegal. 🤷♂️
I just want the game to stop crashing every 30mins. And my objectives to show on the map correctly. You know...functionality of the actual game.😂😂 it seems the only thing they can keep running is the atom shop.😂😂but thanks for your time man. My god the horror of trying to figure out what is supporting what. One time I had to place and delete like 10 staircases and foundations to get rid of one floor piece.
hey, if you place and burn some left turn stairs, can you then place some right turn stairs in the same place, to then repair the left ones and end up with stairs that go both left and right?
@@Westville34 yes, OR the burned building set has a similar wall. The other option is to free place it in the corner using the blueprint, but it won’t be as exact and you won’t be able to get it as close
Any sense of how to get those free-placing corner stairs to place when they're not at ground level? Trying to use that blueprint on top of a roof or prefab structure just gives the delightful "Needs support" error, like yeah Bethesda I need support too I keep playing this awful building game
@@misterchurch666 First thing I tried. Just changed the error from "needs support" to the one where it's 'blocked by existing object". Hard to tell where the error is - with the stairs and/or with the fact that I want it on top of the Red Rocket Garage.
Huh. Got it to place with a rug, but apparently if any part of it (like the upper part of the stairs) overlaps the edge, it counts as intersecting. Just a terrible navcut on this object. So it has to have full clearance. Was able to fudge it a bit by placing it facing the wrong way at first and then swapping it.
Wish I watched this before I bought it because I spent 2hrs last night trying to use this building set and now I want a refund because I shouldn't have to do have a PhD in fallout merging Blueprintology just to get the stairs in the right place
The doors at 16:10 -16:20 have handles on the inside and outside. I’m not sure why you didn’t notice them. Edit: I went back and double checked. I now see what you mean. One of the doors has a handle inside, the other doesn’t. WTF is this 💩
Please... let me know this, i had the catwalks unlocked for a few months now, update came and i treid to place em, and it did not let me.... so i spammed the button and it said puchase complete and suddenly i had the catwalks(that i had) AND the poles that i DID NOT HAVE BEFORE... it kinda feels like bethasda just scammed me but i did not have nvidea replay so no proof showing i could place the catwalks before...

Yeah, but all these problems that crop up are indicative of the general problem in video games where developers are contracted for a limited time and all the knowledge of the game and its systems are gone when their contract is up. Things keep breaking, they make the same mistakes, and it takes them ages to make relatively simple things. Screams developer revolving door to me.
This is the reason I gave up with building in this game. It’s so tedious and restrictive, that any of the creativity and fun ideas you already built in your head, are completely replaced with trying to find ways to circumvent the poor design of building in the first place… I envy the patience of those who do make masterpieces in this game.
they took away my wooden catwalks with this, now i have to pay them monies for this pack to regain access to my content i already paid for... no point in ask bethesda for a fix either, they still owe me for 3000 CC coins from Fo4 that triggers the auto save bug...

Yeah same issue here. The partition pieces and catwalks were already showing as “owned” in the Atomic Shop even tho I never got the bundle

I built a giant tree house using the small treehouse prefab and free place fortress catwalks. It's pretty cool, take my word for it.

When you were doing that with the door where you slid the foundation over, I couldn't figure out how to do it. My first problem is when I put the door then it won't allow me to delete the wall. How did you delete the wall?
there are a few ways! you just have to "disconnect" the door from the frame so there's no support. One way is to turn the doorway into a normal wall, then you can remove it. The other way is to turn the door into one that doesn't normally snap into a doorframe. If it won't snap into the doorframe, the doorframe isn't gonna be supporting it. To slide the foundation, I pick up the item, hold down on the place button and move it over (this keeps it level up and down)

@misterchurch666 I have it again because I moved a piece of this catwalk in my camp, so Bethesda took that as a purchase and charged me atoms to have the thing back I had before, but now I have the little pole I'll never use.

My god the horror of trying to figure out what is supporting what. One time I had to place and delete like 10 staircases and foundations to get rid of one floor piece.
hey, if you place and burn some left turn stairs, can you then place some right turn stairs in the same place, to then repair the left ones and end up with stairs that go both left and right?

@@Westville34 yes, OR the burned building set has a similar wall. The other option is to free place it in the corner using the blueprint, but it won’t be as exact and you won’t be able to get it as close

Any sense of how to get those free-placing corner stairs to place when they're not at ground level? Trying to use that blueprint on top of a roof or prefab structure just gives the delightful "Needs support" error, like yeah Bethesda I need support too I keep playing this awful building game

@@misterchurch666 First thing I tried. Just changed the error from "needs support" to the one where it's 'blocked by existing object". Hard to tell where the error is - with the stairs and/or with the fact that I want it on top of the Red Rocket Garage.
Huh. Got it to place with a rug, but apparently if any part of it (like the upper part of the stairs) overlaps the edge, it counts as intersecting. Just a terrible navcut on this object. So it has to have full clearance. Was able to fudge it a bit by placing it facing the wrong way at first and then swapping it.
Anyone try to put the catwalks in water? This is the only thing keeping me from buying it. Looking for a dock option.

The doors at 16:10 -16:20 have handles on the inside and outside. I’m not sure why you didn’t notice them.
Edit: I went back and double checked. I now see what you mean. One of the doors has a handle inside, the other doesn’t. WTF is this 💩

Please... let me know this, i had the catwalks unlocked for a few months now, update came and i treid to place em, and it did not let me....
so i spammed the button and it said puchase complete and suddenly i had the catwalks(that i had) AND the poles that i DID NOT HAVE BEFORE...
it kinda feels like bethasda just scammed me but i did not have nvidea replay so no proof showing i could place the catwalks before...
I would make a ticket with support anyway

Yeah, but all these problems that crop up are indicative of the general problem in video games where developers are contracted for a limited time and all the knowledge of the game and its systems are gone when their contract is up. Things keep breaking, they make the same mistakes, and it takes them ages to make relatively simple things. Screams developer revolving door to me.
This is the reason I gave up with building in this game. It’s so tedious and restrictive, that any of the creativity and fun ideas you already built in your head, are completely replaced with trying to find ways to circumvent the poor design of building in the first place…
I envy the patience of those who do make masterpieces in this game.

they took away my wooden catwalks with this, now i have to pay them monies for this pack to regain access to my content i already paid for... no point in ask bethesda for a fix either, they still owe me for 3000 CC coins from Fo4 that triggers the auto save bug...
